Honestly, even if it's smaller than 24 x 36, I'd still purchase it.

Yes, that's how much I want need that poster. As I said, I live in Canada though so it appears like I'm out of luck.

I'll keep my eye on this thread and see if any appear for purchase. I will not give up hope!

Okay, dude, here's the plan: this Saturday, you fly down to Toronto. I'll pick you up and we'll drive to Buffalo in time to catch the 7:00 show at Regal and snag the poster.

Seriously though, if anyone can snag an extra poster for me, I'll be forever in your debt.

If anyone can secure me one of those Yoji Shinkawa posters in new/mint condition and want to sell it [for a reasonable price], just let me know!

I just wish they'd sell these online, even for an inflated price. It's making the collector in me go insane. :(

That sounds like a plan!

[As preposterous as this sounds, it almost makes me want to say "YES!" for that poster...]

Yeah I'd totally buy one too if anyone can snag me one. Not being released in Canada sucks.

Our booking company gave us a free screen to put anything we wanted (very, very rare, usually they book every single screen)...my boss asked what I think we should put there. Sorry guys I said Despicable Me 2.

There's stuff to look at, but doesn't anybody care that it doesn't make a word of sense?
I'm confused about this criticism (Not about the other one, I understand it; even a dumb action movie needs characterization). The premise is incredibly simple and from what I've heard, the plot is very simple almost to a fault. The only way this criticism makes sense in such a case is if you're some stupid fuck who's asking "Dur, why does humanity build giant robots to fight monsters," in which case I'm wondering why you didn't complain about the guy who built a robot suit to fight terrorists or the secret organization that built a fucking flying aircraft carrier. Those don't make a lick of sense either from a physics, economics, or common sense standpoint.

So is the IMAX version only in 3D? I'm not the biggest 3D fan, but I really want to see this in IMAX. Is the 3D manageable?

Maybe someone will correct me, but all IMAX 3D movies don't have any 2D screens. I think it's probably the limited amount of IMAX screens there are. They don't want to dedicate the screen space to a less profitable screening,

It's this. Not that many IMAX screens and they want to get the most out of them. IMAX is pretty much 3D by default in most places.

Seriously... look at this damn beauty:

I want to frame this.

Wish the version we got had the Japanese text. Would be a cool bonus.

But I really shouldn't be complaining, considering we're getting it at all.

That style wouldn't look good unless it is 2D (Metal Gears don't look like they do in the art either). Now I want an animated short though.

That's something we would definitely get if the it becomes a successful franchise.

:(

The IMAX poster is 13.5" x 19.5". Don't know about the Real3D poster.

Is that the same sizes as the other IMAX posters (Iron Man 3, Hobbit, Dark Knight, etc)? I'm having trouble envisioning it.

It's pretty much a rule to have 3 fights in an action movie. Not too much of a spoiler.

It's a little bit of one, those of us following the movie for a while know the approx number of kaiju in it so I, at least, figured that there would be a bunch of different fight scenes and not just 3. Personally, I was thinking (with the way Del Torro talked about some of the ways they shot the different battles) there would be at least 5 fights.

Seriously? I thought it was 24 x 36.

That's disappointing. :(

Most of the IMAX posters are medium sized. It's actually reaaaallllyyy nice because it gives you more space to show your "IMAX collection", basically. I assume that's why they did it.

Well and to be cheap

I don't mean to sound as though I'm complaining, a free item is a free item! I've seen pictures of it online and it does look nice, although I won't be able to attend the first showing to grab one for myself.

Hopefully I can find one from a third-party seller for a good price. I'm more interested in the Yoji Shinkawa one, honestly, but both do look amazing.

Such incredible art.

Holy shit, the Regal is the one showing Pacific Rim around here, which means I can get that poster.

COME TO BUTTHEAD

The one they handed out for Much Ado About Nothing was also great.

So I don't understand. Does every theater's first premiere get these posters, or do you have to request them? I'm going to a RealD 3D premiere at 7 tomorrow and would definitely dig a Pacific Rim poster.

Edit: I'm going to a Century theater instead of a Regal one if that makes any difference.

With all the doom and gloom articles they've posted, you'd think that Variety were championing for this movie to fail.

Someone at Variety's exaggerating. I'm not one to trust them anyways.

A recent influx of negative press has dropped the RT meter to 76%. One review's by Rex Reed (pass), the others are negligible in my eyes, and at least one critic's begun to tirade on collateral damage in this movie. Despite all this, the movie's trending better than ever on Twitter. Good news for the box office, at least. And, for what it's worth, this is Mike D'Angelo's favorite Of The Bull flick, which must say something (he's never liked the director's filmography).

THIS JUST IN! See Pacific Rim in RealD 3D starting July 12th and receive this Regal exclusive Limited Edition poster designed by Yoji Shinkawa, Art Director of Metal Gear Solid!

edit: ^ Sounds like PR b/c it is the PR on facebook.
I live just a couple of blocks away from a Regal theaters and Pacific Rim is playing there. No need to get jealous, since I'm broke and couldn't make it to the movie anyhow. lol.

Edit: All the theaters in town seem to be showing the movie on the 11th (tomorrow) starting around 7pm, including the Regal one's. Wonder if they'll give away posters that day too.

lol...

Welp, it's back down to 75%.

I'm not surprised: the script needs a lot of work for me to call it excellent, and most critics pay more attention to that. But I don't think the issues I have with the cast and script damage this film as much as it does for them.

Pacific Rim's gonna have to work to beat Man of Steel in the "people complaining about collateral damage more than the actual flaws in the movie" contest.

I wonder what the alternative is.

Oh, that's right, horrific beasts from an alien world that rise from beneath the ocean depths rampaging and murdering billions.

I'm cool with our giant robots punching them into submission.

75% COME ON GIPSY!

Now the movie has more to fight against then just bad monsters. Now they have to fight bad reviews, too? Wasn't the marketing bad enough?
