So much more fun playing with experienced players! Of course, it is a new MMO but it is using tried and true MMO boss mechanics so far. Familiar strategy to experts, but yeah, I saw a lot of people get burnt up on the very first AE multiple times. Haha... back of the line on duty finder!

I'll admit it, I'm new to MMO's. I missed the boat on FF11 because I didn't have a good gaming PC, and most the MMO's after that, didn't have worlds I wanted to be in enough to pay a monthly fee. The Secret World almost roped me in, since i absolutely love Urban Fantasy, but I knew FF14 ARR was coming, and I couldn't see myself being able to split time between the two titles.

For context: Tolkein style fantasy tends to bore the heck out of me, since it's been so heavily used over and over. So, WoW, and a ton of other MMO's, just didn't appeal to me, aesthetically and in terms of lore.

Can you get back into that mog house looking room they put you in for the level 15 story mission? I left without really paying attention to where it was.

If you are in your main city, its located were the Adventurers Guild is (where you get your first Quests) There is an NPC "Innkeeper".

Been watching some youtube videos. This game looks fantastic. I'm going to pre order the PC version once the site comes back up.

Any good youtube videos or resources you all like?

what's left to do level 30+ after you've visited all the dungeons?

anything special to look for?

In Phase 2, by that point it was just, go around, look for fates, occasionally stumble on new locals. It was still fun, but the highly structured tasks fell away around then.

I imagine Phase 3 is similar. Square isn't going to want to put out too much of the final games content into the beta after all.

in phase 3?
other than exploring new zones and killing random mobs
nothing
oh wait, there's hunting logs
can craft/gather/level other classes too, but kinda pointless
i just started a new toon(w/ a dif race) at this point

As much as I want to play, I feel like I'm done ever since I've done the first 3 dungeons last weekend. Don't wanna experience too much content.

Really hoping phase 4 comes soon after this next test is done.

Is there a way to boost your level to 35 or so like there is to boost to 15 for subjobs? I thought I remember reading you could boost to 35 to do lvl 32 dungeon?

For beta testing purposes, the Wandering Minstrel can boost you from 26 to 29. After that, you're on your own.

i saw a few high level guys running around doing fates. not my thing for now.

yes, i've been trying the different races and see how they look played. i hope highlander will have more faces in the final version. what's available is kinda underwhelming.

The crafting in this game is really fun once you get to around Lv10-15 and you can start applying yourself to the numbers game. There's something engaging about thinking how to maximise your CP's potential. The gathering, unless I'm missing something, is less fun. Definitely the grindiest-feeling thing in the game for me so far. I'm Lv19 Goldsmith and Lv14 Miner for reference. Does gathering open up at all or is it just circuiting around nodes for five levels and repeating leves?

Also, is there a good reference site that will tell me where <X> item can be mined?

Seems like theres not much people playing at lvl 15. Took me more than half and hour to the duty finder to get me a party for Satasha, and I cant get people for the guildhests.

Anyone quickly help me?

Creating a character, selecting a server. Which is the GAF one, because I can't see any that are mentioned in the OP!

I have Balmung, Malboro, Hyperion, Goblin or Excalibur.

Yeah, I agree. While gathering was fun when I started, it got boring pretty quickly since it took so long to level up and there was really only a specific area to actually gather stuff. I also think you don't even get an exp bonus for using the skills like in crafting.

Crafting on the other hand is much more fun after learning some skills especially since you gain additional exp for using said skills. Just wish I had an use for the stuff I was making.

Not sure if this has been posted but if people were curious about Phase 3 populations...

This is from a EU Facebook page. Ultros is looking good for NA populations. :D

Buff icons and debuff icons have different shapes: they're shaped like an arrow pointing up (for buffs) or down (for debuffs).

Oh interesting, I didn't notice an arrow on either one. That'll be helpful, thanks!

Shouldn't worry most debuffs last for 3-5 seconds so its hardly even worth dispelling them :(

haha, that's true... I assume later bosses will be less forgiving on debuffs, though.

----

I met some really nice people today in Duty Finder... I really hope they add a cross-server friends list or something. I would have liked to party with them later, but... oh well.

I would have expected Legacy servers to be a bit more populated. Of course, if you're new to the game, you likely won't start on there, anyways.

Too many servers...they will need to merge some for release or Phase 4...on Ultros, around level 10-15 near the farms,it's barren, doing Fates is suicide because no one is around...

I really don't get what's going on. Since the start of Phase 3, the client keeps causing my PC to freeze and I gotta hit the reset button. I switched to the PS3 client because of this but I would really like to play the PC ver for the graphical goodies. Even after fiddling with various graphical settings, it'll freeze the whole thing within 15 min. Anyone got any idea what's wrong?

Holy shit, the White Mage Chocobo is fucking broken, i solo'ed a FATE with him.

(Btw, help only came when when he had 1% HP left just in time for the final hit <___<)

Well, I think FATEs scale down when there are less people, so I'm not too surprised you could solo it with a healer chocobo. :) I finally progressed the story enough to get my battle chocobo, and it's awesome. When I'm on my White Mage (when solo, messing around), it tanks really well when in Defensive mode.

Is the Paladin quest in the beta?

Nah. I don't think any job quests are in the beta.

Any tips for the quest "A company you keep"? I have already tried 3 times and failed, the soldiers are no problem but I don't know how to deal with the robot that appears after the first soldiers die, please any help is appreciated.

Forcing AA really does wonders for the game. Makes the world feel real, rather than a pixel'd mess. Such a difference.

@Tomodachi: Check this post by Jijidasu on how to force AA with Nvidia inspector.

Is advertising giveaways prohibited on NeoGaf? The site I work for is giving away Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta codes and I would like to share it.
