Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Ahh. Any specifics on when they update the catalog or is it just random? I assume they'll be new listings and filtering by date added will show them up even if they're old rewards re-added.

If you follow their twitter feed (which is protected), they are pretty good about letting you know when they update the site

Out of curiosity, what's everyone's go-to Vita games when they're bored? I'm not necessarily talking about your favourite titles (though they could be), but ones you consistently pick up to play to kill some time and know you'll enjoy them.

Fifa 13. Bought it at the discounted CL final price and it is my go-to game when I have to kill some time.
I play Fifa against my brothers and friends on the console all the time and having it on a handheld is great. Even though there are a lot of gameplay features missing, it is the best portable football you can get.

Right now I am playing a Be a Pro career and the stupid team AI is really frustrating. My teammates always run straight at the defenders and lose the ball. The opponent AI on the other hand knows how to pass the ball.
Last time I played that mode in Fifa 09, it wasn't that bad.
After being transfered to Barcelona as a starter instead of Messi (lol), it got a little bit better though.

It also helps to be an upgraded member. Cant remember the name. By logging in 30 consecutive days or something like that. Gives you a much better selection.

I can't decide between Hexyz Force or Crimson Game Saga.. which one is better? I'm into traditional JRPG but not into SRPG. Thanks!

man that Deus ex mobile game belongs on the vita, surely wouldn't be a hard port as the vita has the same ARM family of processor + GPU as iOS?

plz make it happen square

With Squares current attitude in reguards to PSM, and wanting to support it now apprently, its not impossible that it could come. I would imagine how much they support it will depend on how well Chaos Rings, and whatever other games they plan to bring in the immediate future do. Seems to be some concern as the Current PSM does not support 3D very well from stuff I have heard, which should hopefully change for the better whenever Unity is added into the mix.

Yeah, PSM seems to be stuck in 2009 smartphone territory (at best) in regards to 3D graphics support. It's laughable, and, honestly, a little sad.

i dont think PSM is the answer for these big 3d style games, just chuck them on PSN with trophies, and proper controls, i bet they'd sell surprisingly well for a vita game. for 10 bucks we'd eat shit like that up when you compare it to coconut dodge, zombie tycoon and all the other trash that gets through.

I thought buying these grips would be more comfortable but after using them for Velocity and Growlanser I'm not so sure. =\ The way they curve and the small rest for my middle finger looks like it should be comfortable, but it is't completely.

Nearly finished getting the Guacamelee Platinum. Such a great game. I'll have to reload my normal mode cloud save file in order to finish up the DLC trophies, because "Bone on Bone" is impossible on Hard (finishing up a lengthy round of difficult arenas without any health regeneration).

Nice little Star Wars reference.

I love guacamelee as well but the game overdoes it on the references.

For me, it's Project Diva f. The very nature of rhythm games means they're highly replayable, but it's one of the few that I've been so hooked on. I never really was into Vocaloid prior to this game, but I've acquired a taste for the unique vocals of the songs now. Really looking forward to F 2nd even though I know I'll have to import it.

Second would be Dynasty Warriors Next for the similar reasons. Nothing like sadistically mowing down mindless mobs of enemies in some short missions. It's also got surprisingly good visuals when compared to the console iterations. Though, I'm not sure if that's a knock against the consoles or praise for the Vita.

Everybody's Golf since it has sooooooooo many things to unlock and they cost so much that it's going to take a long time to buy everything. So it feels like I still have a reason to play it and it is genuinely fun to play too.

I've noticed the vita having many games that have high replay value but I'm trying not to invest time in them to get that backlog lighter. Lumines, Unit-13 and WipEout 2048 come to mind for instance.

I'm not holding back on PSM games though, I often come back to Nunnageddon, Sea Run, Meltdown Moon, Numblast and Rebel.

When is Sony gonna put some of the first party psp games on sale. There are a ton I want to play but not for the prices they are asking. $10 bucks or below and I'll bite.

I wish we had some of those vita sales even just a few of them would be enough. Silent Hill for £5. Oh man, it's depressing waiting for a proper sale since December 2012 with the anniversary one in February excluded since it was bad -_- I can't believe SCEE went like this, this long. Is there a good reason for this or are they just shit and lazy?

Started Retro City Rampage and so far it's not too bad. The aiming and jumping on heads seems clumsy but I'm enjoying the city graphics and music.

Ehh...I guess we have a different opinion of what "Trash" is, but for any game that Square releases as a Phone game I think your only real hope is going to be Playstation Mobile releases since they seem to want to support it, but so far seem fairly uninterested in pushing for full native Vita support outside of FFXHD(which is being largely ignored by SE in favor ofbthe PS3version). That could change some if FFX, and the PSM release of Chaos rings sell well on Vita, but I actually think PSM is Vitas best chance of getting support for some of the bigger publishers for the moment.

Sony just needs to start supporting it alittle more, and they do seem to have some updates planned for it, from what I have heard PSM is supposed to be getting Trophy support, and its getting Unity at somepoint, but who knows when.

I wish Mobiles had trophies.

I love playing Velocity but need trophies without buying the Vita HD upgrade.

I still will though, it's a great game

Anyone who's played it: Is Silent Hill: Book of Memories with the PS+ discounted price of $7.50 USD worth the scratch? I don't care if it feels like a dungeon crawl with a Silent Hill coat of paint, but I do care if it's a weak dungeon crawl...

Just started playing it and it is a fun game so far. I'm enjoying the isometric view (more games need to use this) as well as the RPG aspects. This honestly should have been released as a non-Silent Hill game.

The Dragons Crown ign video week is killing me, i am so hyped for this game.
Will go for the Vita version, that way this baby will be with me everywhere i go.

it's both making me excited for the game and depressed as I know regardless how long (it's at least 20 hours for the story maybe 120 if each character has a unique story haven't been able to confirm one way or another) deep (it seems to have a number of mechanics to give the game depth, between it's combat being more than just button mashing, and the unidentified items and stat managing.) or how high quality it is (I have heard nothing but praise for it so far) the average gamer will still not being willing to buy it until it gets really cheap under the idea of "it looks like it should be a psn game" because it's a 2d side scroller :/

beyond that i am just trying to convince my friends to get it so I can play with them, worst case I will just play it with my wife though *shrugs*

Pinball Arcade, Metal Slug Anthology and Little Big Planet Vita.

For years i am dreaming of a side scrolling game like the good old Capcom D&D game and its finally here.
I dont know if i will have the time to play each class and enjoy thier story but i will play it allot, count me in if you are looking for a fightning partner.

I can only count you in if you are getting the PS3 version:P, as I am skipping the vita version for now (local co op with the wife, and not needing to buy a second vita to play with her trumps portability of the vita)

If from a dungeon crawler you expect lots of loots and lots of spells and abilities then this is not for you.
Silent hill is neither a survival nor a dungeon crawler but something in the middle, you have limited resources, at the beginning you can take 3(or 4?) weapons at max(and they are destructible!), 3 medikits at max, 3 repair kits at max and so on.
You can upgrade your backpack but resources are always limited, even more now that the patch forces you to retrieve your items(and not all of them!) where you died(ala demon's souls).

None lol!
Too much backlog on vita and ps3, but dynasty warriors next first and silent hill second would probably be my choices.

Yeah, PSM seems to be stuck in 2009 smartphone territory (at best) in regards to 3D graphics support. It's laughable, and, honestly, a little sad.

From what I understand from reading the developer forums, it really is. The specs for it are extremely low, like 96 megabytes of ram usable, and the 3d performance is about on par with the PSP.

Unless that gets upped, I'm not sure more modern games will be possible on it. I'm surprised Chaos Rings can, unless there are PSM games that don't use the regular PSM development thing.

So I bought Tokyo Jungle Mobile and damn is it a fun little game.

Started of as the Pomeranian (you have no other choice) and managed to get about a 60,000 score. No idea if thats good but it opened up a bunch of other animals to unlock. I unlocked a lion yeah,,,,, but with the few points I had left I unlocked the chick..

Lion or chick...... Lion or Chick......

So I played as the Chick because..... fun.

First game died on second screen lol.

Second game died on third screen

Third game somehow lived 60 years and scored 92,000 lol. Unlocked an alligator which I havnt used yet.

Something funn about trying to survive as a chick (have a nap to grow up) in a world that slowly gets scarier and scarier to the point im trying to run away from raptors and saber toothed tigers lol. At least they are now on my list of un-lockable animals. Need like 150,000 points to get them though.

Anyway I recomend this game. Easily the best PSMobile game on there and more like this would be fantastic and what I hoped PSMobile would bring from the beginning.

Wow, Binding of Isaac on Vita?
Nice surprise, awesome game.
Let's hope they add native joypad support this time

Completely rebuilt in a 16-32bit style 2D engine, instead of flash. Overseen by Ed McMillen, creator of BoI, and programmed by Nicalis. Will contained the original game, the expansion, and an all new expansion's content... retuned, refined, and fleshed out.

Lol you know I never actually expected this not to show up on IOS, so this does not really shock me. However It does make you wonder if something went down between Sony, and Capcom. They released SFXT, and MVC3 but otherwise have ignored the Vita almost completely. At E3 they were on Microsofts stage, but had nothing to show for Sony (despite Deep Down back in Feb). In the end it bothers me fairly little as Capcom has not produced much I have cared about this entire gen outside of Dragons Dogma, but it does suck for those that still enjoy Capcoms output.

After playing Cytus Lambda I now realize there's a huge gaping void in my life that can only be filled by awesome touch screen rhythm games.

So here's a question for you guys: should I buy Cytus Lambda for a measly $12 or go for broke and pick up DJMAX Technika Tune for $45? For the premium price am I getting that much better a game? (Trophies aside. And what I like about Cytus Lambda besides the mechanics is the Japanese music. I understand DJMAX is K-Pop right?)

DJ Max is definitely worth the price. Can't really comment on Cytus Lambda since Sony loves us Finns so much that they want to keep PS Mobile from us, but if you like it, get that too. Support all the music game love as much as you can, maybe we'll get more. :)

I agree you got a point there, gotta vote with our dollars and what not. :) I just wish the Steam Sale wasn't on the horizon so I could be more loose with my gaming budget and I wouldn't even think twice about getting both. Music games are FUN.

If you have an iOS or android device you can get Cytus for $2, fyi. Less content than what you get for the $12 on Vita, but it's still 44 songs for that $2 I think. Might be worth getting DJ Max and doing that on iOS or android if that's an option for you.

I'm also curious about DJMax though. I just bought Cytus on iOS yesterday and I really like it. I'm worried i'm going to buy DJMax at $45 and then it's going to go on sale the week after or something...
