I would like to know if they are going to update the craft system so you can constantly make one item instead of having to go back to the menu each time. Or be able to craft bulk items.

But as for a non-request question: Did they ever consider a Wii U port? Or does Nintendo have a similar policy to Microsoft in regards to crossplatform online multiplayer? Or is it simply not advanced enough to possible?

I also wonder if there was a morale issue with having to redo FFXIV after the widespread negative criticism that the original received or if it just motivated the team to work harder.

I didnt hear anything about DQX not allowing cross platform play yet.

Okay, so I just realized this might be a good place to ask a question about mining.

My log says that shards (I forget which ones) can be mined in the South Shroud and La Noscea (forget which part), Basically, the shards in the gathering log that you can't find in Thanalan areas. I've went to both of those places all over the zone, and can't find any mineral deposits. Am I doing something wrong?

After I get Lancer to 25, I'll probably spend the rest of beta leveling blacksmith and figuring out how Materia works, so it'd be nice to get the gathering log going.

You're not a high enough level to see the gathering points in those areas. The shards are level one which just means you'll have a high success rate.

Might have been asked earlier, but is there any news on the welcome back promotion yet? I told myself I'd stay away, but all the positive buzz is making me really want to play now.

Square-Enix: Wii U doesn't support Direct X11. 360 and PS3 don't either, but it doesn't matter lololololol

Right now, neither does the beta :( Not that it matters for me, I will be getting it on the PC anyway. Wonder if there "success" with the Wii/Wii U DQX factored into this.

Just that it's two weeks of free play before the sub starts up.
From the chocobo porters. It's slow and yet somehow still costs gil? Maybe I'm missing something here...
They're faster than walking and you don't get aggroed like on the personal chocobo. It's also pretty cheap compared to teleporting.

It takes 1-2 minutes to get to somewhere as opposed to 4-5 minutes or more on foot for pretty cheap. It costs far more money to teleport. The only free option you have is Return and that has like a 15 minute cooldown.

Interesting. What level do I have to be? My miner is 11. When I tried before, it was last week's Beta so I was only level 7 or 8 at the time.

It does seem strange not to be able to get the shards immediately, but I guess if I'm not using them for recipes at the moment, it doesn't matter too much. Just means I can't complete the log.

You also get to watch a sweet live attract screen if you go HUDless and first-person.

I'd like to know whether Moogles will play a more prominent role in the release version or if they're stuck with being delivery vendors. Will they be in charge of seasonal events? Are there plans for Moogles to get a storyline? A Moogle village in the wild somewhere?

11 should be high enough to see the level 15 nodes. If you have other items from those areas in the 11-15 part of the log then you can see them. Botanist can get those shards from the start if you really need them.

You can fight their God.
Oh, I thought of another question. Why did they straight-up incorporate the Magnificent Seven theme into the Chocobo Theme?
Chocobo themes are always based on different music genres so they they picked a well known song for the "western de Chocobo". I would've preferred L'Arena but whatever.

Is there a guide to improving FPS, playing on a laptop and would like to up my FPS a little. Tried randomly dropping a few things in the graphics options, but it didn't make much difference.

Getting mid 40s down to high 20s. Would I be better to cap it at 30 for smoother play?

The Direct X thing was a reference to SE's comments on why Wii U will not be getting Kingdom Hearts III or Final Fantasy XV. Wii U can definitely run FFXIV fine, and at higher settings than PS3 at that. There's no reasonable justification as to why it shouldn't get FFXIV considering they were trying for 360 as well. The no sales argument would not be valid because this is an MMO and due to that fact by it's nature it is a game that would grow over time no matter what, especially now considering the Wii U's slow, albeit steady flow of new good games is about to begin. There's no reason FFXIV should not come to Wii U and still it probably never will because Square-Enix are assholes. I'd be playing on PC either way but it would still be cool.

New Info from Yoshida on the forums regarding Dungeon Finder:

Producer/Director Yoshida here.
We are going to release features aiming for phase 4 in which will announce to the party if you have a player challenging that content for the first time, and also a feature where the party will get a bonus on reward if you clear that content with that first time player in party.

Sounds good. More incentive to stick it through with new players in Duty Finder and not just drop group the instant you see a Pugilist wearing cloth.

I wonder if that bonus stacks with the more new people you have in a group. For instance, get 1000exp for 1 new player, 1500 for 2, etc.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that excuse. Well that is balls. It is not like Nintendo kept interest up with the handheld titles they were given. Oh well, at least we don't have any of that godawful Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.

The Wii U has a terribly weak CPU, even compared to the PS3. All MMOs are CPU crushers. That alone might be a big reason why Wii U can't get a port of FFXIV. The GPU is better than the PS3's, but by all accounts the CPU is much much worse and you NEED enough CPU grunt for MMOs, there's no way around that.

It's an out-of-order CPU so it has taken developers a little longer to get used to it, the ones that care to try anyway. You are recycling outdated misinformation. Take a look at Need For Speed: Most Wanted on Wii U if you want to see an example of a good Wii U port that trumps the other console versions. Don't mean to derail the thread, but yeah.

anyone know of a way of getting help to login to the square enix site. i have my key from the original game, but i cant login to the square site because of my secret password. and i cant find anything on the site to help me out.

Faster than walker, which is free, slower than teleporting, which costs a heck ton if you just keep doing it haphazardly.

Besides, you get your own Chocobo after awhile. Than all you use Porters for, is an excuse to give your hands a rest for a few minutes.

Are they still using the same Chocobo music from 1.0? If they are, i'm going to have to find a way to disable that track or something. I hate it. Don't know why exactly... I guess it sounds like a parody in and of itself. The instrumentation reminds of the "dumb dumb dumb" song from the Mormon episode of South Park. Might as well switch it with Crazy Chocobo if they have decided to keep that one track and not others like Twilight Over Thanalan. At least it would be somewhat enjoyable.

Ask about skill speed and spell speed being negligible at best.

Maybe also how there isn't much you can do to manage TP (especially compared to 1.23). Pretty much run out and be stuck with doing nothing for awhile. Meanwhile THM has infinite MP and some sort of management mechanic.

You could also ask how devs plan to differentiate gear when classes only need 3 or 4 stats at most which already appear on nearly every piece.

It's latency. There's a huge thread about it in the beta forums. Basically, there's a great deal of lag which is caused by the server, even if you are outside the ring well in advance of the cast bar filling, you can still get hit by it. It's probably at least 1-2 seconds delay, which is much greater than your Internet lag to the server, so it has to be the server's problem.
I've actually died on the other side of the room from the bomb in mines, while someone else was standing between it and me and didnt die LOL

There's an option to specifically turn off mounted music in the config menu.
How do you turn off the HUD anyway? I've made a few screenshots, but, its always in the way.
Scroll Lock.

Do any of you guys have questions for the development team? I'll be conducting an interview tomorrow and would love to incorporate some of your questions!

Any info for them to give on the ps4 version? When it could be released? Will there be any reasons for ps3 owners to make the jump to ps4 version (other than prettier visuals).

This game is like crack, I'm gonna take a break tomorrow, got to lvl30 and just did the lvl29 dungeon (the mansion one), my tank looks fucking terrible, I shouldn't have bought the serpent armor with my points, it looks bad :(

Nothing interesting ever drop for me either, I'm always using the gears from stores!

I'm not planning on fighting a console war in the FFXIV thread but if you think NFS:MWU has any kind of CPU demand resembling that of an MMO I'm not sure what to tell you.

I was so excited when they sent me a key, but when I keyed it in for registration, it says the key is already registered. WTF. Way to go SE.

I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks the best starting area would be considering many people have had a good amount of time with the game and exploring by now. I'm thinking of Ul 'Dah mostly because the ambiance and the music at night and it also gives me a Figaro vibe during the day. The surrounding areas play a big role in where I would chose to start. The desert does seem like it could be boring, but I could be wrong. The forests of Ronfaure were my home in XI so I was considering Gridania but i'm not too sure I like it as much as it looks too spaced out and I have bad memories of the area from 1.0.

The class you choose determines which city you start in. So really it's more a matter of which class you want to be.

I like all 3 cities, and they really aren't much like FFXI's cities at all.

ive got nothing left to do for this phase. so im pretending to be a levemete officer in costa del sol when im online. stop by and say hi. ALL LEVES ARE CANCELLED! NO LONGARM!
