Seizure inducing SHMUP where your music influences the gameplay. Perfect for those with a huge music library.

And I'm serious about those seizures. Screenshots don't do this game justice

Kind of off topic, but I think every GAFfer should see this.

From the awesome GAFfer Monk in the Stream thread:

A wise man once told me that if we collect all the Rocks we found on the ground we could, one day, build a Castle with all of them.

Sometimes I think that we, as a Community can become much more powerful when united. I believe that we have the best members on any Website or Message Board ever known simply because no matter how different we are, we share the same love for Games.

That is what makes me proud. All of you, fellow GAFfers.

There is a total of 335 fellow GAFfers in this picture that posted in this thread. There's more but after so many hours collecting these Avatars I might have missed some. I'm very sorry for that but the reason why I did this is:

We are one, we love Games, Steam, Backlogs, threads, hype trains, gifs, and so much more but all of this is unique because, when everything fails, we do not.

I didn't realise I'd already bought They Bleed Pixels a while back, so decided to give it a try. Holy crap, it's really really good!
Platforming feels very Super Meat Boy, but combine that with super fluid and varied combat and you have an absolute winner!

I think this was a game with very mixed reviews. Heard the difficulty gets really frustrating and there are some control issues...?

'course, I already own the game so I should probably try it for myself :p

Got a few, but hoping for a good discount on a these:

Ms. 'Splosion Man
Bleed
Dustforce
Sacred Citadel
Monaco
Fist Puncher
Skulls of the Shogun

A few are still kinda new, though.

BTW, how is Rush Bros.?

Explaining Eversion would spoil it a bit.

Let me try.

Eversion is a short experience that boils down the ability of games to surprise you to its simplest possible execution. Start with a platformer and a single, extremely simple mechanical twist; use that mechanic to wordlessly drive forward all of the narrative and meaning of the game; make it short and quick to let the player engage directly with what the designer is saying, without any cruft or unnecessary baggage.

tl;dr if you like cute little platformers it's totes worth $2.49.

Hey guys, what you think about Puzzle Kingdoms? I know that a 90% discount is pretty tempting, but I want a second opinion before buying it.

PS: First post here on GAF! =D

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is on sale (under £2) along with the other M&M games, well worth getting as it's more like a Japanese SRPG / puzzle hybrid than a western tactics game.

Lumunies is on steam for those who don't have it one console. Not on sale yet though

I really want to play the Exceed games but am so bad at those kind of games =/

The 3rd game is quite noob friendly, with it's easy mode and autobomb (automatically drops a bomb when you get hit) makes beating the game much easier. Just memorise where the enemies appear and point blank them to quickly kill them and increase your score multipyer.

Speaking of high score, I need to pick up the PC version Xotic (FPS with shmup score chase system)

Community choices:
Baldur's Gate
Legend of Grimrock
System Shock 2

I'm leaning toward Legend of Grimrock.
System Shock 2 had its day, and is already a well known game.

Give the indie a chance...

(Please don't hurt me lol)

Eador: Masters of the Broken World is looking like it needs to get got. Another endless game for me. Why.

Also Arcania + Gothic Pack (Gothic Universe Edition + Arcania) is on sale for $12.49 (75% off)

I second the recommendation for 1000 amps. It's a puzzle-platformer with metroidvania elements. Each room is dark when you enter it, but pieces are revealed as you move through it. Your goal is then to find all the special blocks called "nodes" in each room without leaving it. If you managed to do that, the room will be permanently lit. However, sometimes the nodes won't be accessible the first time you enter a room, you will need to collect one or more upgrades and then come back later. The level design is really good, puzzles and rooms layout are varied, so the game never gets boring or repetitive. It took me 5 hours to get 100% completion, more than worth the price.

Got a few, but hoping for a good discount on a these:

Ms. 'Splosion Man
Sacred Citadel
Monaco
Fist Puncher
Skulls of the Shogun

Yeah, I'm after all of these too. Some of them are on special but kinda holding out hope they'll make it as a daily/flash/community choice...

Anybody else feel that Noitu Love 2 is way too fucking easy? I mean holy shit I'm at the last boss after playing for 68 minutes. I've died only like twice up until this point.

Can you talk about how Nimbus plays?

I've played Nimbus for a little bit. It looks a bit like old sonic games and it's pretty much that, except that instead of playing as a hedgehog you play as a little space ship that is able to dash through the courses by way of flying.

If I remember correctly you pick a trajectory and then boost to "launch" yourself for a certain length of time.

It has quite a few levels and I imagine trying to beat your scores could be addicting. I would have played it more if I wasn't so burnt out on indie platforming games at that time.

I think this was a game with very mixed reviews. Heard the difficulty gets really frustrating and there are some control issues...?

'course, I already own the game so I should probably try it for myself :p

I did actually hit a difficulty wall last night, but I'm gonna give it another try. There's these little flying guys that speed towards you and they just destroy me.

Yeah, it's region-blocked. :/

The Walking Dead for $6.--... I keep hearing good things about it but what does Indie GAF have to say?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Also I just dropped the current deals thing from the OP, sorry but I dont have time for it (vacation and travelling, etc). Most of the current deals should get much exposure in the main thread anyway. I'll still add the games to the main body of the thread.

TWD is not an indie game.....

Rather true, but I can see why he would ask a different community (compared to the main Steam thread) for an opinion on it.

Can you talk about how Nimbus plays?

And what do you mean by "play it backwards" in Retro/Grade?

Both look awesome

In Retro/Grade, you start at the end of the game and work yourselves backwards, you avoid enemy fire and you position your ship to where your shots are coming backwards in reverse. The game is played backwards so you have to undo actions in the game instead of playing it forward. It's all timed to a rhythm, so it's really a music game

I am out taking a longer walk at the sea, will update the thread when I come back (5-6 hours).

TWD is not an indie game.....

If you want to try to cram everything into genres, then I can make the argument that TWD IS an Indie game. In an industry where no one is quite sure what "Indie" even means, I'd wager that your statement is probably bolder than mine.

Putting that aside, maybe I want to hear the opinion of people who are more interested in "Indie" games; people who are more likely to share my tastes - namely innovation, creativity, or aethestic-heavy titles. Or maybe I like hanging out in this thread more than Salsa's mega-thread. Not saying that the peeps in that thread are bad or anything, this one is just a bit more relaxed.

Thanks for letting me know your opinion on the game, though.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to create the thread and meticulously finding and labelling each game, much appreciated. As a result I'm going to pick up a few really cool games.

5 recommendations to add, if they have already been mentioned then take that as approval you should buy them already.

50% OFF - EVERSION

55% OFF - STARSEED PILGRIM

75% OFF - RETRO/GRADE

66% OFF - RUSH BROS

40% OFF - RECEIVER

I appreciate the recommendations, and they are good games, but it would be awesome if you could follow the format in the OP since those missing the current price, links and description, which costs me a lot of time to add.

Dust: An Elysian Tail - $10,04 (33% off)

A platforming and adventure game in the vein of Castlevania and Metroid with a surprisingly wonderful story and highly satisfying combat. The scenery is gorgeous too. Someone put it nicely into words: "There are games which you just need to see in motion yourself". I wasnt interested in this game much, but it looks GREAT in motion and plays better than what I'd expect judging from the screenshots. Definitely one of my surprise highlights last month in the indie thread.
