I am fighting this perception for a few years now. People see "Indie" and "2D" and lots of people just shut off immediately. Ridiculous. Anyway, glad you enjoy itThe bigger your recommendation is (and if it includes interesting screenshots), the higher the chances of others checking it out.
Bonus points for using gifs.
To be honest, I was definitely in the camp that neglected (and often looked down upon) the "indie" scene for years. I've never been attracted to games that had that flash-game look to them, which is often the first impression/vibe I get when I see a lot of these games. I love and appreciate good sprite work and animations, however. WayForward is my favorite indie developer, just to give you an idea (if they're even considered indie?). This year, in particular, I find myself appreciating the scene a bit more than I did initially. I've always preferred underdog/niche games, but I've mainly supported that "scene" on the home consoles and portables. I've also not had a good gaming laptop/PC until recently so that may also be another reason why it took me so long to "find" and accept these games.
As a side note, I've also been working on a game/project with my brother using RPG Maker VX Ace for over a year now. The more we dedicated ourselves to this game the more appreciative I've become of the indie scene (or really any project that is developed by a small team/group of friends). I personally value working within limitations. My brother and I are trying to make the most out of our game with as little outside help/resources as possible (if you're familiar with the RPG Maker scene, we're basically not relying on custom scripts/tile-sets made by other people). We're essentially trying to "max out" the run time package (RTP) and we're really proud of what we've created so far.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks again for creating this thread. Between this one and your primary Indie thread I've discovered a lot of cool and interesting games I would have never found out about.
