Profiling is not inherently evil or wrong. In security situations, its the most efficient way to locate and minimize preventable crime. It's just that due to history, it is often only associated (and has exclusively been used) with racial/ethnic profiling. Which is wrong.

For example: If your a security guard at the boarding gate for an airport and you profile to locate someone in the line who is nervously darting his eyes around and sweating profusely. Picking him out for further questioning due to that is not wrong. Because that persons behavior is not normative to the situation that they are supposed to be facing. And most likely, they are one of three things:

1. Afraid of flying/First time flying and appropriately nervous
2. They're ill and displaying common symptoms of sickness.
3. They're nervous Because they're committing or about to commit a crime.
a. This might be smuggling banned creatures too or from a country
b. The rare, genuine Terrorist.
c. Criminal fleeing prosecution/jail.

Now on the other hand, singling out people, just due to the fact that most terrorists are middle eastern, and they just happen to fall into the same ethnic/racial category is wrong.

He wasn't a law enforcement official. He had no directives.

I spoke specifically about Self Defense in terms of using Lethal Force. Not defense of property. Not in the defense of a family member.

There is absolutely nothing insane about someone in a physical altercation having to THINK about whether not to use Lethal Force rather than just resorting to Lethal Force first and claiming Self Defense after.

It's pretty cut a dry. See a Knife or a Gun? Doesn't matter if it's real or not, use Lethal Force and you're good. Losing in a fist fight? You better consider how bad you're actually losing said fist fight before you resort to Lethal Force. 5 guys stomping you while you're on the ground? Go ahead and use your weapon. One guy that you're wrestling with while punches are exchanged? Fight harder to get free before you pull that weapon.

It really isn't rocket science and it doesn't have to be all encompassing either.

Yeah, I guess that's where my hangup is. If Zimmerman started the scuffle, lost the initial fight, panicked and shot Trayvon, then that should've been manslaughter.

If Trayvon confronted him and then got violent, and then Zimmerman panicked, I can understand him reaching for the gun without the intent of necessarily killing Trayvon, but definitely getting himself out of the situation in a surefire way.

But from what I've gathered, we have no way of knowing how it went down, and that seems like reasonable doubt to me, however much GZ is responsible for fucking everything up from the start.

2. Rachel stated TM told GZ to get off of him which suggests GZ made an attempt to detain.

3. GZ's account of the story is full of lies. Jumped out of bushes? No bushes near the conflict. Head bashed 25 times against concrete, 2 small scratches doesn't support that at all. TM holding his mouth shut and grabbing for his gun, no evidence on weapon, and yet GZ was screaming the entire time according to the degense.

4. Zimmerman has a history of aggressive behavior.

5. Zimmerman had no defensive wounds, and also unholstered and discharged his weapon on his back. Doesn't prove he brandished the gun but makes it a possibility that he had his hand on his gun the entire time upto discharging his weapon which shows intent based on nothing besides profiling.

Because the City's Medical Examiner disagreed with the Defense's paid Pathology witness and another eye-witness (btw non of the so called eye-witnesses actually saw what happened at the time of the shot) said the opposite of the one you're citing.
