I think its one of the "I know, I'll exaggerate so I have the MOST controversial gaming opinion!' posts. This thread has been loaded with hyperbole.
Rarely do I come in contact with the pure troll language. It's best to ignore it because there is little to be gained from understanding its worthless and confusing prose. This post is making me lose my mind.
Secret of Mana is a mediocre game with flawed mechanics, boring dungeons, and a lame story. The pacing is particularly bad as well.
- ICO is a horrible game with a stupid ass girl that no brain to do any shit but to hold hand
- GOW sucks after the first one
- Never liked any of the super smash brother games. they are just awfel fighting games. Tobal 2 was more fun than that
- Metal Gear Rising sucks outside the graphics and some flashy moves. invisible walls. horrible story. hell even NG didn't have invisible walls.
- i found the new mario game on WII U is more fun than any mario galaxy game. mario galaxy is probably the most hated mario games ever. i enjoyed mario sunshine more.
- The new killer instinct looks really fun. and i didn't play the first 2 games
- FFX is my fav FF game of all time. 13 is just pure shit
- Okami is a boring game
- i like BF3 story
- i don't know why i keep getting killed in BF3 multiplayer when my ratio in COD is 2 +
So what is your "controversial" gaming opinion, GAF?
Hating on stuff you don't like / haven't played / haven't finished and then not backing that hate up with anything that resembles an argument or reason isn't controversial, it's stupid.
GTA is overated. Its a spectacular achievement but overated.
Esport or/and streaming games in general are dumb, I don't see why I would want to see someone play some game when I can play the games myself.

Final Fantasy 7 was overrated, and 8 was much more superior. The only reason people love 7 and hate 8 is that 7 was their first JRPG experience and 8 wasn't a direct sequel.
Say what you will about 7, but I don't think people disliked 8 because it wasn't a direct sequel. The game just had some broken gameplay and story details. It's not like 7 is perfect in those regards, either.
GTA games basically play themselves. They're all so boring.
I wouldn't say the 16-bit look is hiding a piss poor art skill, it's just that making a hand drawn game that is visually appealing to a broad audience requires extremely good art skills and a ton more effort. Have you ever animated anything by hand? It's a lot of friggen' work!4) I'm sick to death of indie games being intentionally pixelated for the "retro" look when in fact it covers up for piss poor art skills and budgets.!
My working theory is that people who had no idea the FF series changed as much as it did learned/like the Materia system, and when the Junction system came around they were upset they had to learn a new mechanic.
By no means am I saying 8 is without flaw, but it's much, much better than 7.
Clarifying my case on Bioshock, i just think it was outdated. With all the modern technological marvel in gaming and they choose to tell their (very good) story via a silent generic faceless gun totting protagonist. These type of FPSes belonged in the Doom and Quake Era where story didn't matter and you were merely a generic space marine. But games got a lot more serious and these kinda protagonist/style of FPS don't suffice anymore.
Hydrogen by M.O.O.N is one of the worst songs on the Hotline Miami soundtrack.
I loved when the Xbox one got boooed on stage at this years evo!!
I think 2007 wasn't 'the greatest year in gaming', not even close.
I havent played a Mario game since Mario 64 but for some reason that Mario cat suit looks pretty dope. Maybe because I'm a Jacksonville Jaguars fan?
Uh, Bioshock was great. Also, you haven't played it and therefore probably don't know that the story and setting are actually pretty decent.
You very well could be right, but I'd love to hear your counter argument and which year you think stands out.
In terms of the depth of games released that year, it's tough to beat. I don't think it features pinnacles in gaming, but in terms of the depth of solid to really good games, 2007 was a truly standout year.
I bought the Orange Box back in 2008, and I have to agree. I know people love the series, but I couldn't make it through HL2. The game has not aged well.Half Life is boring.
League of Legends is not fun.
I'm surprised anyone liked this game. The gameplay is fucking dreadful. It's about as interactive as a DVD menu.
