Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Just bought the Vita Mega Pack and Persona 4 Golden. Now it only needs to arrive from the UK here (in Germany).

I'll buy a 32gb card next month to get fully digital on the Vita. Can't wait to play Persona 4 again <3

Next on my list: Little King's Story and Gravity Rush. Guess I'll have to check out some Soul Sacrifice Reviews as well.

What else is out there in the Adventure/RPG department?

Also what PSP and PSOne games can you recommend?

Sounds good, that sucks about GoW:A , Ive heard meh things but I really can't believe they ruined the GoW formula?? Ive heard the same for Uncharted 3 as well? Still gotta grab em.
Don't EVER listen to Totobeni when he criticizes games. God of War: Ascension is one of the best God of War games. The only problem it has is the fact it's about the umpteenth God of War in 6 or so years, so yeah, there was little reason to develop the game as the formula doesn't feel super-fresh anymore. Still, it's a high quality game nevertheless and if you don't feel exhausted by the series so far, you'll enjoy it.

And Uncharted 3 is pretty much on par with Uncharted 2 in most areas, but it is perhaps a bit too long and has a couple of more annoying parts than 2.

The idea of silent hill book of memories has huge potential imo, i would like to see it better developed in a sequel with more complex and less dungeon-esque levels that look and feel more like survival horror-esque levels and some general improvements.
Think of a sequel with levels that look like the ones in dead nation but still randomly generated, it would be awesome imo.
Oh man now i want it :(
Man the more i think about this the more i want it!

Just think of shbom with improvements and levels that are not a sequence of rooms and corridors but real levels(interiors and exteriors, still random) like in dead nation!

Dokuro

I heard conflicting reports about the quality of this game. Hmm, care to drop a little review?
Dokuro is awesome! I even liked the story lol. A must buy if u like puzzle platforming. And an attainable platinum.

Of course it will be free for plus members in the US this month so u might want to take advantage of that if u can.

Dynasty Warriors Next you say? Hmmm. How strong is the romance element in this game?

Romance is basically non-existent, if you often use his/her strategies and call him/her to fight with you then at a certain point he/she will proclaim his/her love/friendship.

Who dares saying bad things about dokuro!?!?!?!??!??!
Dokuro is just plain AWESOME!

Yeah, Dokuro is a well designed action puzzle platformer. It's not a cinematic mind-blowing epic experience, like a lot of games aim to be nowadays, but the ones saying it's a bad game are simply wrong, the game just isn't for them.

kinda figured. Just wondering if there were any under-the-radar indies or something i've overlooked as being good.

I always liked Everyday Shooter - but I'm not sure if you can play that on Vita?

Did I read that Dead Nation is coming to Vita as well? Or did I dream that...

Yeah announced at E3. Im wondering if it will just a straight port, or if it will be similar to stardust Vita. Either way it will be on my Vita once its released.

are Growlanser, Gungrir worth it at $7.50 each?

I'm so tempted to grab Rock of Ages and Trine 2 (have them on Steam) for easier co-op!

Chrono Materia looks great up there; Anything with that much of a focus on lush 2D seems perfect for the Vita's OLED :)

Anyone knowhow much Mytic Chronicles and G. Stilton will be sold for? $20 each?

MC looks like a traditional jRPG-

Would still like to hear about any impressions of it.

Siliconera Articles: http://www.siliconera.com/2013/07/02/mystic-chronicles-keeps-the-psp-going-with-a-retro-styled-rpg/

It'll cost $15 in the US.

I hadn't seen video for it; I'm impressed at the animation of the enemy characters, especially for something that started off as a Mobile game, and was later ported to PSP.

The game seems to have been out on PSP since Sept. In Japan, and out even longer (?) on mobile platforms, so there should be decent impression of the overall game out there.

Haha, damn you for sending me on wild goose chase after I assumed these were coming to vita. Trine 2 couch co-op is awesome, btw. Can't do that on a spreadsheets machine!

Growlanser is a fantastic RPG with charming, well-written characters, multiple endings, a "build your own town" mechanic similar to Suikoden, and battles that are actually hard, and expect you to use all your abilities to win. If any of this sounds good to you, it's 200% worth it, if not more!

Gungnir I have no personal experience with YET, but it sounds like one of the best RPGs produced by Sting; it's got pretty high quality production values from what I've seen, is just as new to US audiences as Growlanser (only releasing last year), and seems to be a top-tier SRPG experience. I've heard nothing but good things about it!

my apologies! those games would be awesome on the Vita indeed.
I did try them on Steam on co-op but boy was it troublesome.. had to use motioninjoy to connect my PS3 controllers.. etc etc

Just finished the main story and I agree with you. Lots of potential for a sequel. Deeper character customization, greater variety of weapons and equipment, more organic level designs. Too bad we will never see it.

Big Sky Infinity is a horizontal, sidescrolling space shmup with twin-stick controls, and randomly/procedurally generated action. Simplistic, visually, but trippy and it gets the job done. Has a nice presentation, UI & enjoyable narrator quips that keep it lively. Nice score chaser that I was addicted to for awhile, and I keep it on hand.

Got $12 on PSN Vita bros. Anything I should pull the trigger on or anything coming up I should hold out for? (Ooh and I'm a PS+ member already)

Tokyo Jungle on PSM for $3 (until tomorrow, so hurry) then you can pick up either Velocity Ultra ($7.50) or Stealth Inc ($7.99) next week. Or you could get Hotline Miami for $9.99.

I already have TJ on PS3 but I've been hearing a lot of good things about all of those. I really need to look into Hotline Miami more. Thanks for the suggestions!

What are some good shmups on the Vita? I know about Sine Mora and I have Stardust (if you wanna count that as a shmup).

I know Shahid was talking about bringing some space chicken shmup to vita. I dont know much about it though. There is also BigSkyInfinity but its hit or miss some like it, others dont. I do, my only issue with it is that because of some of the screen effects you can sometimes die for seemingly no reason.

And Velocity Ultra is pretty fantastic.

One of the things I'm loving most a out my Vita at the moment is that it (along with PS+) is causing me to try out games I would never usually buy.

I bought Virtua Tennis 4 for £5, I am not into sports of any kind, but I'm having so much fun with it, there's so much content and te graphics are great.

Rayman Origins, didn't think it would be for me, but the visuals are absolutely stunning, the backgrounds and animation are beautiful, and it's so much more fun than I could have imagined! Best proper platformer I have played in years.

Persona 4 I am enjoying a lot, and I'm about halfway through I think (
Shadow Mitsuo fight
), but I'm unsure about the structure of the game. The dungeons are starting to bore me a little and I don't like that you can't save anywhere without using a Goho-M.
Sometimes if I die halfway through a dungeon it will be a while before I can face returning to it.
And considering how much praise the game gets, it's very repetitive. I enjoy the non-dungeon part but there seems to be a lack of places to visit and people to interact with, there isn't that much to do in Inaba/Okina.

Oh and lastly, the Facebook app is dreadful. If I click one of my notifications it generally either does nothing or takes me into browser to try and load the page, it's stupid.
