what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Replaying Nier atm.

I was hesitant to replay it for the longest time because I was worried that the experience would be ruined by fore-knowledge of the story, and I really didn't want to tarnish my memory of it.

That said, I'm loving it just as much second time round. Biggest shock for me is how humorous the opening few hours are; the way the game gets darker and darker makes it easy to forget how entertaining and plain laugh-out-loud funny much of the banter is.

Oh well, off to help an old man find his dog next... and knowing how that particular side-quest pans out I guess the "happy days" are coming to end real soon.

FFV for the Fiesta...though I'm nearing the end.

Also Ace Attorney trilogy, halfway through case 5 of the first game. Not an RPG, and barely a game at that, but a really satisfying and humorous visual novel of sorts that is pleasant on the iPad.

Earthbound for the 1st time (dodges aerial cookies) & loving it!

My man! Any new EB fan is a friend of mine. :)

I am currently playing Persona 4 for the PS2 and SMTIV for the 3DS. Both are god tiers of RPG's.

I'm in the middle of a few replays of Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, & XII. I still got Kingdom Hearts (on my very first playthrough) to finish, but those controls put me on hiatus for a bit, lol...

Final Fantasy XIII, and I think it's alright so far. Chapter 6-8 were wonderful, 1-5 and 9,10 were mediocre to bad. Chapter 11 is awesome again, though, and the chapter I'm currently in.

Earthbound, for the first time. Quirky game.

Earthbound and it's way better than I'd ever imagine. It has common basic mechanics, but what makes it so different are some pretty neat things like ordering pizza, using ATMs and using seasonings to make the foods better.

Ive been thinking of starting a couple ive had for awhile but not touched.

Enchanted Arms
Blue Dragon
Infinite Discovery
Star Oceans
Phantasy Star

Any help making a choice?

trying some of the fft hacks for the first time. 1.3 sounded a little too hardcore so i went with fft rebirth for now. unsure if i'll get through it all in time though before open beta + early access for ffxiv starts. i know i'll abandon everything when that time comes.

Star Ocean is always a good choice.

Still plugging away at Xenoblade. Just hit level 47 and arrived at
Sword Valley.
I just clocked in at the 25 hour mark. How much further do I have to go?

Digital Devil Saga 1

Completed Dragon Quest 8 and i am looking for new RPG's to play for PS2. Anyone have suggestions?

I have and have played all the usuals like P3, P4, FF10-12, KH1-2.

Second playthrough as in literally second, as in you didn't get the other endings when you first played the game? Cause then you missed a whole lot!

Personally I'm really trying to like Ni No Kuni but I just fucking can't. It's very charming yes, and pretty and feels like a grand adventure but there are so many things I hate, I don't think I'll ever finish it.

Just give me that SMT IV already Nintendo, dear god. Why must you torture your European customers like this.

SMT Nocturne if you like DDS

Yeah, I mean, I like it, can't say I hate it, but geesh, its just a little too...I don't know...

I recently picked up a 3DS and Im going effing JRPG overload...Amazing titles.

Fire Emblem
The World Ends With You
Etrian Oddesy 4
Radiant Historia
SMT IV

Feels good man...feels read good.

Just started Demon's Souls again (NA version, going for the second plat)

I genuinely cannot get enough of this game. Such a close battle between this and TLoU for game of the generation. 5th playthrough of DeS

I've recenty had this argument with a good buddy of mine.

Two games that are polar opposites of game design, but achieve amazing things.

Just finished the main quest in Ni No Kuni. I do plan to return to finish up the side quests and bounties.

Brilliant, brilliant game but damn that A.I. can really screw you when you're in a tight battle. Thankfully those moments are few and far between.

I am currently playing Persona 4 for the first time, I have to save Yukiko from the TV world but I'm not sure how to proceed with this since I have limited amount of time before she dies.

Shin Megami Tensei IV. Firstgame I have played in the series and loving every minute of it.

My next JRPG will be Etrian Odyssey Untold The Millennium Girl.

All kinds of Atlus love going on over here.

No, I've already fully completed Nier with all 4 endings +DLC, this is a full replay from scratch.

Its interesting because thanks to Nier's NG+ system always starting you at the midway point, you tend in hindsight (at least I did) to forget that the first half of the game contains a lot of unique content.

Funny thing is I think its aged a lot better than I expected; coming off the back of 6(!) playthroughs of TLOU I was concerned that it would just come across as cheap and clumsy, but it feels more charmingly retro than anything else.

I just wanna point out how much better this year is for RPG releases than the kinda disaster that was 2012. Whether old (Soul Hackers, Eternal Punishment, Earthbound) or new (SMT4, Ni no Kuni, hopefully Dream Team, South Park and Fantasy Life) my favorite genre is treating me too well this year.

Tales of Vesperia, Fire Emblem Awakening, FF XIII-2, FF VII, and DQ IX. I have a problem. At least I have a good memory so I remeber what's happening.

I'm about halfway through Tales of Vesperia and I'm not enjoying it anymore. The story just seems to drag on and on, which sucks because I enjoyed it for about the first third. Does the game pick back up or should I just retire it? I have too many games to play to grind out 30 hours of mediocre gaming.

Okay GAF, I like NieR. I can't imagine playing this game with Father NieR, though. I can't really even begin to imagine how he would fit into the story to take the place of NieR and what sort of a relationship he would have with the other characters.

And boy is it taking long.

Also beat FFVII: Crisis Core....
SQUEENIX WHY WONT YOU PUT THIS ON VITA!!!! (HD with Type-O would be amazing)

Hi gaf,

I need help with choosing one of these games as my primary:
Mugen Souls
Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2
Atelier Rorona (I have Totori+ too)
Ar Tonelico Qoga
Star Ocean Last Hope
Disgaea 3 (vita)
Persona 4 Golden

I've started the top 3 and disgaea 3, but just having a hard time deciding which I should focus on. I don't really have a preference as to what I like.
