FEZ 2 (possibly?) cancelled | Aka: Phil Fish acts like a 5 year old on Twitter

Also, Twitter is as much a means of direct communication as anything. It isn't like he went out and contacted the press to make a story out of it and did the interview rounds. He made a single small tweet to announce his intentions and that was that.
 
This just goes to show that instead of giving them caring and compassion, the world hates insecure people, will push them to being volatile then blame the insecure person for it, and would literally segregate them if they could so they wouldn't have to see them, deal with them, or be annoyed by them.
 
The irony of all of this is the comment section of that entire website. Nothing but straight insults from people who don't know him personally, whom he's never spoken to, never insulted in their face, never killed their parents or harm them in anyway.

It really sucks that you can't be human at all once you get money. You must be "them". I still love Fish and is even a bigger fan of him because of this. The man did something half the people on that website sit on their asses and demand, bitch and cry about all day not doing. He deserves some damn credit. This is so messed up, like it just..Ugh.. Disgusts me.

Maybe he can just stick to his royalties and do something else with his life.

This is just an elaborate prank. Look at his avatar. Andy Kaufman. Someone who was known for pulling shit like this. Fish probably thinks it's funny.

Some people on GAF adore Kamiya not because he's any better than Fish (he's not, Kamiya is a grade-A dick) but because he makes Japanese games. Not everyone on GAF likes Kamiya though.

Phil Fish acts like an ass occasionally and has said some stupid fucking shit in his time, don't just gloss over that. He definitely helped bring things to this point, even if NEITHER SIDE, not Fish nor the pitchforking hordes, wants to ever admit any part in the escalation. One look at damn near any internet discussion involving him, though, and it becomes apparent that he's just one loud Fish in a big old fucking sea of shit fish. And by shit fish, I mean shit people

It his demonstration of "Hey look, I can do this. I can get rid of this. Look at me. I just cancelled a game. Like it didn't matter. I don't like gaming. I don't like gamers. Look at what I done". Piss off. More like "... we just can't think of what to do with FEZ 2 ... wait a second ... 'Fuck you, gamers. We just cancelled FEZ 2, which was totally going to be awesome' ".

Why would the internet be a nice and heavenly place when there's a myriad of problems, complexities, perspectives, and realities outside the internet? The internet isn't a funnel, its a gigantic gaping hole where things simply happen.

It's just totally 'Kotaku' to be pretty much the first to react to a twitter-news-thingy like this. To give them some credit, they did actually reach out to Fish to clarify the situation.

(To be honest, I don't even hate Kotaku like most of GAF, it was meant to be a bit of a joke)

I'd say one has more emotional interest and personal stake vested in their medium, stands only to lose in equal measures anything they can gain in a situation like this... and the other is someone who could care less, has nothing at stake or in contention, and can only benefit from the situation. Annoyed Gamer is plying his trade, Phil Fish is having his trade plied. In all fairness, the only way he could properly respond is via game development, because that's his element. As it stands it's like a bad battle rapper vs an architect.

With Fez 2 cancelled, maybe Phil Fish can use the free time to go around apologizing to people he's insulted over the internet, people he's never met. I hope those victims of his are doing okay these days.

I don't mean to victim blame, because honestly those kinds of comments are gutter trash, but if Phil put even the tiniest bit of effort into improving his attitude toward both his (potential) customers and the industry in general, he wouldn't get 1% as much of this sort of reaction.

Yeah he has, and yes he does get a lot of hate all the time.

It goes both ways, but by this point it is nothing more than a loop he has got himself caught in.

He receives hate, eventually breaks down (like today), gets a crapload of extra hate, restart.
 
Phil Fish was being an asshole online long before most of this forum knew who he was.

He invited this himself by being a complete and utter douchebag. If you're going to start shit on the Internet you better be ready for the response.

Phil rants and raves, but also does have insightful thoughts, funny jokes, and completely innocent posts. Kamiya keeps it short and sweet in English and saves most of his grander thoughts and ideas for his native language so there's a bit of a disconnect. Most of the English speaking Twitterverse gets to see Kamiya as a string of emoticons, question marks, and telling people to eat shit.

Of course, amusement is subjective. I find Kamiya annoying but earnest. I find Fish annoying but insightful. I honestly don't understand why Kamiya is seen as particularly less of an asshole than Fish.

See, I'm conflicted because I know that Phil Fish is a dickhole and have recently rescinded my old defenses of him, and to be honest I didn't even like Fez as a game. I thought it was pretty awful or at the very least, not for me. I however always get shit kicks out of people who want to call someone out on being an asshole when their demeanor and dialogue on the internet would lead me to believe that they're assholes too.
