It's funny that bullying, racism, transphobia and homophobia are all trending topics nowadays, and you'd have the gall to reply with this. It's called having thick skin. Can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Yeah, that'll solve everything.
And guess what? You will always get comments like those. That's the nature of the internet. You learn to adapt.
Hey could you post your email address and social media handles along with details on things you've worked on that you're proud of?It's called having thick skin. Can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.
its kind of startling to see that people are going the "he should have known how to deal with the assholes and harsh nature on online criticism" route.. instead of criticizing the absolutely disgusting internet behavior that is going on..
Oh wow. I think he has actual problems. Seriously, he needs help and support. Maybe locking his twitter was a good idea.
I'm seriously trying to imagine what it would be like to get these kinds of comments every day.
Sad but true.Yeah he has, and yes he does get a lot of hate all the time.
It goes both ways, but by this point it is nothing more than a loop he has got himself caught in.
He receives hate, eventually breaks down (like today), gets a crapload of extra hate, restart.
Yeah, that'll solve everything.
Phil Fish was being an asshole online long before most of this forum knew who he was.
He invited this himself by being a complete and utter douchebag. If you're going to start shit on the Internet you better be ready for the response.

Which I'm sure is easy for internet anons to say
Survival of the fittest, right?
Aye. Live by the asshole, die by the asshole.
Survival of the fittest, right?
Phil rants and raves, but also does have insightful thoughts, funny jokes, and completely innocent posts. Kamiya keeps it short and sweet in English and saves most of his grander thoughts and ideas for his native language so there's a bit of a disconnect. Most of the English speaking Twitterverse gets to see Kamiya as a string of emoticons, question marks, and telling people to eat shit.
Of course, amusement is subjective. I find Kamiya annoying but earnest. I find Fish annoying but insightful. I honestly don't understand why Kamiya is seen as particularly less of an asshole than Fish.
What? Do you honestly think there is any value of replying to the idiots that wrote shit like that on the post on his website? Those people will never learn, and even if they do, another 100 will pop up saying the same shit.
It's a never ending battle. The best way to tackle such comments is by ignoring them.
Probably not every day, just when he's acting like a spoiled assho... oh, right.
I mean, everybody's gonna trip up once in awhile. You'll say something in an unguarded moment that gets way more attention than you imagined, or you'll trip over some invisible wire that leads you down a bad path for a few days or weeks. If what Fish and Blow claim is true, the nature of fame would be very, very different than it is. There'd be no hope. Everybody would be J.D. Salinger and Harper Lee.
Sure. Especially when even supposedly professional journalists join in.
Being able to catch yourself is whats important. Phil doubles down on the trolling and vitriol, leading to more venom coming his way. If he admitted he trolls too much or was dickish in the past, that would quench some of the hate.
How did he expect people react to him, when he's a giant asshole 99% of the time? I'm not saying it's right that he gets so much shit thrown at him, but really, he had it coming. And what he's doing now is just pathetic.

Good. He was an obnoxious jerk who should never have done his own PR. Fez was a bad name that broke no ground.
*ahem*
"SUCK MY DICK. CHOKE ON IT." -Phil Fish in 2011.
I don't think that's "completely innocent twitter posts."
With Fez 2 cancelled, maybe Phil Fish can use the free time to go around apologizing to people he's insulted over the internet, people he's never met. I hope those victims of his are doing okay these days.
Sure. Especially when even supposedly professional journalists join in.
Fact is, indie devs get hate mail/tweets all the time, but Phil Fish is the only one who attacks them back. He should learn to hit that Block button and move on
Yeah, the guy he told to commit suicide. Such a valuable exchange between the two of them.

That didn't work for Spoony. If you do that, you just get accused of trying to get sympathy. The hate doesn't end once it starts.

He's right.
That'd suck if true. Fez was a great game and I'd love another one. He should just quit twitter and focus on making games. Quit the Internet since it brings out the worst from people. As evident by this already juvenile thread.
He is SOOOOO right. People here act like they are perfect saints and angels that they have never said anything bad. Half of them say worst things than the developers themselves. Ridiculous.
I'm seriously trying to imagine what it would be like to get these kinds of comments every day.
You misunderstood me, he has made twitter posts that are innocent and innocuous that have received hateful replies. I did not say that everything he posts is innocent.
