Very exciting stuff. I'm assuming most people from this board will be joining the GAF FC's on their respective servers.

If FFXI taught SE anything I would have hoped it would be that having strong ability's on super long cool downs does nothing but wreak havoc on end game raiding. Having to wait 2 hours for everyone's cool downs to be up in order to make a full power "real" attempt was a nightmare.
Making it a week long cool down is kind of absurd. Just hope they are really kind of weak I guess or its going to bring alot of the same issues as 2 hours did.

What? Everyone in XI had a 2hour. Content was designed around this fact.
In ARR, not every FC is going to conquer the available-once-per-week primals to get the ability to summon them. Content will not be designed around requiring these primals, don't worry.
Since you're not even guaranteed to be one of the few FC to get one

That's cool, I was just going off what he said I hadn't actually looked into it. I just really hated how the 2 hours worked in FFXI not to mention how awful the balance on a class to class basis they were. Stupid THF 2 hour.

You can't. It's more of a Tetris thing where you pack the UI elements as tightly together as you can on the bottom of your screen and take a screenshot and hopefully replicate it when phase 4 finally happens.

I would love that so much. I can't wait to play now because during early access I won't be able to play much because I'm throwing a baby shower for my sister in law and I'll be super busy. So I'm totally down with phase 4 starting ASAP.

Well, Live Letter is on the 8th so if they announce it for that weekend, that would be pretty dope. It'd give it a good week's time. Two weeks off then right into early access. The shoe fits but we'll see how it plays out.
Well, it's speculated that it'll be august 9th, being the day after the next live, and it does say "tentative", so I guess it's going for that. That would be indeed 10 days.
The early access date sounds too optimistic for me, though.
You were right the first time, the code woks for both (since it's for the SE account). The problem is that there is a separate code required to download the client on PS3, but if you can get someone who has it on their account to help you can get around that.
Need PC one.

I'm confused. Open Beta and Early Access are different things, right? Does open beta carry over, and will it have voice acting etc? ...and will it be on PS3?

Yes, they're different. Early access will be sandwiched in between open beta and full release.
Yes, open beta progress will carry over to release as long as there are no game breaking bugs that force the development team to wipe everything.
Yes, phase 4 has voice acting.
Yes, phase 4 will be available for PS3 but you'll need to register a code to gain access. Signups have ended but I'm sure there will be plenty of codes given out over the next couple weeks.

guys is there anyway to tell if ive registered for the beta? i received the beta key but its not working. im thinking maybe i tried it and missed that it went through and now that im trying over and over the key isn't working. is there any place to login to see that its connected to my account. i tried support but they havent gotten back to me yet :/
