in the next movie at the end when a cat 6 appears they should have all the remaining jaegers reveal their secret weapon and they all combine into one mega jaeger

That may be a bit over the top, but I have no doubt there will be an awesome team attack by two or more Jaegers. What I'm really hoping for is more calling out attacks. It's crazy to hear someone do that in a Hollywood blockbuster, and I demand more of it.

No one here cares if you smoke it, shit..I live in China's 3rd biggest city (Guangzhou) and I smoke J's in front of the theater or restaurants here all the time. Not many people here are exposed to MJ...so they have no idea what the smell is.

Funny lived in Guangzhou myself for 2 years 10 years ago, now live in Hong Kong. Be careful tho cops are unpredictable in China!

Awesome.

Yeah, I still try to be discrete. But eh, as crazy as it sounds, my customers who I do business with just happened to be potheads...and they bring it in from USA every time they are here (NYC -> HK -> China). They just put it in a sealed bag, never caught once...not that I suggest it...

Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but this article says that the sequel happening hinges on the performance in China. Sounds plausible enough, but this quote...

This article is full of mistakes. The author calls "Dark of the Moon" TF4 mutiple times and makes false statements about Pacific Rim... All issues he could have avoided with a 2 minute google research... Journalism and entertainment does not mix in any way.

Furthermore he mistakes the Korean movie "Mr. Go" as Chinese, total shoddy article!

Saw it last night (IMAX 3D). Loved it.
When I was younger I used to be heavily into Gundam, and I grew up watching Godzilla movies. So I was all smiles while watching this, even the corny comedy was well done.

Gotta say Mr. Elba and Kikuchi-san did it for me. Their performances were great, really felt their emotions.

Also,
child Mako - that little girl can act her ass off. Love that memory scene.

This thing had more destruction than Man of Steel

No way. They only took out maybe 3-4 buildings and a soccer stadium. The streets are fucked though. Man of Steel was way more than that. (Ive seen PR 3 times, MoS twice).

You are not counting the initial attacks? I know it was summarized to get the movie going and all, but come on now, cities all over the world were getting destroyed. It was years of a war against giant monsters.

I'm talking about the scope of destruction they show throughout the years. It was way way more than MoS.

Still another week until the movie hits theaters here in Japan. I think we're doing a group thing? Very pumped.

Saw this for the second time in IMAX3D and outside of the very first scene it was damn amazing. Really well done. Kind of want to watch it again.

And again.

I might go this week again for a fourth and final time, just by myself. I enjoy watching this movie in a big ass screen that much.

you know it just hit me, if we Avatar'd Pacific Rim:

Earth = Cherno Alpha: Green

Air = Striker Eureka: White

Fire = Crimson Typhoon: Red

Water = Gipsy Danger: Blue

Pretty fucking cool

Finally received the Shinkawa poster I got off of eBay. It looks so damn awesome on the wall, even though it's a bit damaged on the sides.

Also seriously considering going to see the movie again this Friday. I realised I've never seen a movie in theatres twice, but there's no way I can wait until the Blu-Ray release [whenever that is. November or something?].

Already posted, but still awesome.

Ahh, where is my artbook?! Dammit Amazon, I order a new PSU and it gets here in less than a week, I order a bunch of books and it takes ages for them to arrive...

Edit: nvm, it just arrived =D

Any interesting news coverage over there? I've seen a few random news clips on Youtube, but they seem primarily focused on Ashida Mana.

Saw this in ...

IMAX3D
and
D-BOX + RealD 3D

First time i saw a movie in dbox but i really cant think of any other film that would actually utilize dbox any better. the lumbering walking of the mechs works well with dbox and the impactful punches.

dbox itself im indifferent about it doesnt really make you feel like you're in the action just fun getting jostled around i guess. They had one showing of Dbox + 3D per day at the theater i went to.

IMAX 3D seemed like the better experience since the sound system and clarity of the picture. but then again these sorta things seems to vary from theater to theater.

Went in with only one expectation: to see giant robots beat the shit out of giant monsters. Boy, did it deliver in droves. I loved it. No pretentiousness, no bullshit, just 90 minutes (or more, I didn't keep track) of pure monster smashing.

My friend was a bit disappointed, saying he expected more in the monster department. I'm pretty happy with what we got, though.

The only downside was that, for some reason, my theater showcased the entire thing with black bars on the side.

Came back from another watch. I love that the main 4 Jaegers have their own theme music. Gipsy's one gets me so hyped, calling the film dumb entertaining is really underselling just how much heart it has with every shot. This is how you do a giant mech film!

Just got back from imax3d.

I wasn't ready. I need to see it again. Movie of all time. I need to sleep now.
That was so awesome. Epic. Glorious. Wasn't prepared.

For the folks who are just watching it for the first time now, what countries do you live in? I'm interested to know if it's just been released where you are.

The artbook is fucking fantastic. Reading the prints in Spanish (and English) taken directly out of Guillermo's diary is pretty nice, and the Kaiju section is awesome as fuck. Kinda makes wish we could've seen more detail in the last few Kaiju because they have great designs. God, I'm such a fanboy.

I'd recommend it for everyone on the fence; I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Finally going out to see this tomorrow night!! Crazy pumped to see it, I grew up watching giant robot shows, playing with my Shogun Warriors and Godzilla toys. Don't know why it took me so long to make it out to see it.

If all goes according to plan, I'll see it tomorrow. I'm almost unspoilered for it, which is fun.

One question, though: Does it have a post-credits stinger?

Saw it, loved it. Every criticism I have has been brought up so there's no reason to bring them up. But come on,
you gave us a 4 armed, buzzsaw bladed mech, and it does 1 cool thing and then dies. Boo!!

Not sure why you guys are so interesting in making this movie seem like an underdog. It took 220m to make. The director?

Anyway, found it really average. None of the charm of his other flicks. Massive dead section in the middle. Boring characters and I expected more interesting mechs and monsters. Glad you guys enjoyed it though.
