Nintendo doesn't really announce things for 2+ years in advance. Zelda is about the only exception. I don't expect any of those to be delayed until 2015 either. There is no way they are letting Smash slip and that is probably the big holiday game next year. The rest should all be before.

Sometimes they do. With Wii U they were obviously eager to prove that there's stuff coming for it down the line. You think we would have seen reveal trailers of Bayonetta 2 and FExSMT with nothing worth a mention to show if that wasn't the case? I'm confident most of those games are coming out in 2014 but something like FExSMT isn't a lock. 5-6 big games is about 2/3 what I consider healthy from Nintendo.

Biggest question is whether they can keep up with releasing games for Wii U between SM3DW and Mario Kart 8.

My guess is Wii Fit and Bayonetta will be what comes between those.

Konami wants nothing to do with nintendo unfortunately.

Well Konami is dropping the ball all over the place they should just rename themself to the Metal Gear Company.
If they put some effort in a 3ds game it won't be that high budget. I am even happy when they re release Goemon 2 from the n64 on 3ds that game is just made for 3d. we are finally getting yu-gi-oh so i hope they release that in the western lands and is the start of Konami dropping some other games then Metal Gear.

Never forget:

That's the question mark part. Might as well happen but we don't know.

Well it isn't definite, sure. But those two are the only ones that were playable at E3 without firm releases. It makes complete logical sense that that is when they would drop. I'm more worried about next summer (after MK8) tbh since yoshi and X seem like early fall games.

Little-known Thunder Monkey fact: The "FIGS" stands for "French Italian German Spanish." All of Europe is in his rectum!

I expect everything.

And I also expect nothing.

I'm perfectly prepared, GAF. * bails out until tomorrow morning *

Harvest Moon, likely. New Beginning came out this time last year for the 3DS, and I do wonder if they're working on a Wii U iteration.

Its the secretive behavior and false rumors which lead to fantasies of an epic AAA budget title. Instead we got Tropical FreeZZZe.

And somehow Tropical FreeZZZe looks much better and more fun then Super Mario 3D Land Part II. People were expecting SM64-2 or SMG3 and they got a handheld game's sequel in 1080p. Whatever, Donkey Kong looks good haterz.

I'm on the #teambothlookgreat. People need to relax once in a while. This world will never have enough good platformers.

Cool. Hope to see a couple Nintendo eShop game announcements for Wii U. We haven't had any yet, have we? Kind of strange.

Also hope to see more information on upcoming Wii U firmware, hopefully along with some substantial features.

People praised Retro as geniuses when DKCR came, a game people wanted for years, claimed Retro only could have managed to forge such a masterpiece.
Then Tropical Freeze is shown, suddenly they don't want that because it's not Metroid and proceed to claim someone else should have been doing it.

People expected a AAA game or a new IP. Nintendo being so secretive did not help either. Instead we got another Donkey Kong, nothing bad, but nothing surprising. Its the surprising announcements that make ND's or E3 conferences amazing. You only have to look at past E3 conferences or KH3 reaction vids to know this.

I see. I forgot it came out so long ago. ANB was announced like 4 or 5 months before it came out, so I supposed the could announce a new one now and have it come out by the end of the year.

Nintendo is always secretive about their projects. We had zero legit rumors about Retro's next project before E3. People setting themselves up for a disappointment is quite another matter. To be honest a sequel to DKCR was way more surprising to me than the next Metroid would have been for example. DKCR:TF is also very much an AAA game.

I just wanted something new and exciting. A direct sequel to 3D Land isn't that. In fact, this is the first 3D Mario to debut on a home console that is a direct sequel to another.

And this is made worse by the further homogenization with the completely stale NSMB brand. Emphasis on more 2D style gameplay, digital control with a run button, flagpoles, timers, three star coins (I mean, green stars), etc.

I wasn't asking for SM64-2 or SMG3, but something that would live up to 3D Mario's track record of innovation. This isn't that game.

DKC:TF does look good though.

Your in the very tiny minority here. Also AAA refers to budget. I refuse to think this is a AAA game when it looks like this (and its a 2d platformer, not really the most expensive of games to make)

Evidently it surprised a lot of people if they were expecting a "AAA game" (whatever that means) or a new IP.

What about this art style is cheap to produce? Where are you getting the figures of 2D platformers just being inherently cheaper? Even if you're looking from a fixed camera angle, it still takes just as much art to make a game on a 2D plane with 3D assets.

I guarantee you the budget for Pokemon X/Y are smaller than whatever Battlefield/AssCreed 4/Watch Dogs/Destiny/Titanfall, and its going to probably outsell them all.

Well this is the game Retro spent last 3 years working on. That's already 3 * 100 * whatever the average Retro employee makes yearly.

What's wrong with how it looks? I never understood this complaint personally. It's still running on Wii U at 60FPS. 2D platformer is easy to make but is it easy to make a good 2D platformer? I'd have to guess the answer is no.
