Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Heads up, the new firmware makes it so each of your ps1 games' settings gets saved (controller, screen size etc). It's nice not having to change them for every game.

Also in FFVII- In the sector 5 slum where an I supposed to go? I have aeris in my party.

And for those wondering Rayman 1 plays great with the vita dpad. The music and visuals hold up.

Can someone recommend me a place where i can buy (digitally) US PSN codes ? I usually buy from Amazon, but the 20$ ones are out of stock.

Top right there is a light, you will find aeris' house. Or if you already spent the night there you need to exit her house leave section 5 and take the fork left to head over to section 6/wall market

You can $10 ones on gamestop

Mystic Chronicles got added to the Vita Store last night but you wouldn't know it. SCEA didn't add it to the New Releases section. You can only find that game if you go through the PSP section or use search.

SE is really making me scratch my head.
They are aiming for 2013 release of FFX HD collection and it still doesn't even have a target release date.

Found a nice little PSM title. First mission is free then its pay to unlock

Shuttle Quest 2000

Shuttle Quest 2000 is a blend of side scrolling shooter and craft-em-up RPG. Use money and resources earned/found on missions to buy and craft bigger and better weapons to help win the war against the evil robot empire.

I still haven't forgiven your act of betrayal. You sir, can go get your own corner.
Fine then! Be that way! It's not like I liked your corner anyway!
;_;
It didn't even get an Australian release ;_;
Isn't it going through the ratings board now and that's the hold up? I seem to recall someone on VitaGAF mentioning something along those lines before.

That's quite handy.

Well after looking into gaming laptops to buy at the end of the year I have decided its way to expensive to get something that would truly last me for the next gen. Considering I only want it because I want off TV play I am just gonna go the PS4 route.

I hope that remote play stuff works well enough. If if all down to router speed and I need a new one then thats fine. Wife is gonna go pre order one for me today.

ahhhhh feels good to finalise a decision.

And I bought pixel junk monsters HD...... because I have a purchasing problem.

------ Well actually I just kinda got distracted when playing the PSP version and kinda needed to restart the game anyway so may as well get this one so it has trophies and online play.

I just bought the Super House of Dead Ninjas DLC on Steam and gifted a copy of the game to a buddy, all with the intent of convincing the dev to bring it to Vita....that's how this works right? ;)

I usually buy PSN codes here: http://www.pcgamesupply.com/buygames/sony-playstation-network-cards/

To be noted, they also add in a tiny additional fee when purchasing digitally. Say you buy $20 then they add around $2 IIRC. Then after purchasing, you gotta wait at least half an hour before you can use the code.

Also, heres a neat video detailing some features of update 2.60: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bODUOyaXG00

Strangely, not on the main PS YT channel.

You got that right! The game will look swell on the Vita OLED! Are you gonna tweet them or something?

Does anybody have news about Fifa 14? (hopefully not Fifa 11 3/4)

Had a quick look and found nothing in regards to the Vita version. The only details that I found was the launch date in Ausland: 26/09/2013 and that on the cover says: LEGACY EDITION. wut?

Does it means that now we will have 98 dressed as 14?

*1st post, hurray.

I'm really enjoying Superfrog HD, and I have zero nostalgia for the original Amiga game (got it on GOG a while back, but never really bothered playing it). My only problem with the game is some of the enemies tend to blend in with the background. Oh, and the music seems to be getting worse with each new world introduced.

Aside from that, it's just so nice to be playing a newly made platformer which actually keeps things simple. No stupid gimmicks, just straight up runnin' and jumpin'.

Yeah, at the beginning was difficult to distinguish certain enemies while running in certain places, but it's almost a world 1 problem, in the other worlds there are no(or at lest amost no)problems.
About the music i found the new ones bland, while the original ones that you can hear in the original levels are better imo(especially the egyptian one, i love it)
You don't know how much i missed amiga-like platformers, neither stupid gimmicks nor boring small left-to-right mario-esque levels.
Having 48 metroidvania-esque levels feels soooo good :D
Just a little note: if you attach the 24 original levels alone you get an area that is bigger than old metroidvania maps, if you add the other 24 new ones that are even bigger than the original ones...

Man i don't even know how could i survived passing from these kind of levels(level 2-4 of the original superfrog, not the last level) that i LOVED in the amiga platformers:

To modern boring left-to-right mario-esque levels...

Just got my account approved today and I'm here to say that I'm Vita owner (and proud).
I've yet to buy Guaccamelee and Hotline Miami. Is that make me a bad guy?

That depends?

Do you have Persona 4 and Mutant blobs? ;)

Err......Just P4G. Its day one by the way.
What is Mutant Blob? Have heard so much about Guaccamelee (I also interested in the art style but it just the backlog that keep me from buying) and Hotline Miami, but don't have clue on Mutant Blob.

It's from the same studio as guaccamelee. Really great platformer

The European version of Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims in HD! is now done, and ready for release. It’ll be hitting the PSN Store in SCEE regions (list below) on the 7th August.

You can add a third vote to Mutant Blobs Attack being a great platformer, that ad Guacamelee are really great games. (imo)

I never played the original, but judging from a trailer it looks like a fun shoot-em-up. I'll be sure to pick it up when it releases on PSN if it's not too expensive.

Is Urban Trial Freestyle worth it for £3.50? I know it's a crappy Trials rip-off, but I love Trials and would like to play a similar game on Vita. I've heard mixed things, but it doesn't seem anywhere near as bad as "Motorbike" on PS3... http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-motorbike/2300-7648/

Has anybody picked up 10x8? I picked it up based on the strength of the video and the fact I never buy PSM titles and should be supporting the platform more.

Couldn't install it though, and gave up trying. Might try again later.

Love the art style.

Makes me wish we could play GB games on the Vita.

Damn, I wish Nintendo would put Virtual Console on other platforms. Free app then buy each title with-in it. Could see it EVENTUALLY (like, in years and years) happening on iOS, but it's just a shame we could never see it on other platforms.

Earthbound on my Vita? I think I'd finally play it.

Guys i ain't even looking for cheaper memory cards, i gave up on that. I JUST WANT BIGGER SIZED OPTIONS FFS!!! Does anyone think they'll announce anything regarding this at Gamescom?

64GB for $250,bundle for $480 announced at Gamescom.

I will slap Shuhei in the face if they announced that. Seriously, these prices are killing the Vita. It's all well and good lowering the system price, but no internal memory and exorbitant memory card prices are what will annoy loyal Vitabros.

Can i buy a Vita game on my ps3's US account and then transfer it to my Vita (which is an EU account)?

You can get as far as attempting to sync the files via Content Manager, but then it will error out saying that you need to use the account that it was downloaded with. Speaking from experience.

Wow, I actually signed up to Twitter for that contest (OH here). I can't stand twitter or most social media, though.
That's my OH code you're eyeballin'!!
Fellow Ohiobros! Vitohiobros? Vitabrohioan? Good thing I already own VU, else id be competing as well :D

Retweet (: I posted the link earlier. I won one too :D
Awesome, congrats! Also, yea it WAS you! I forgot who it was, and was too lazy busy to check.

Welcome new vitabro! No, but you should get those ASAP! Also, I just picked up Rayman Origina for 6.75. Never played a Rayman before, but it's 2d platforming puts pretty much everything else to shame. Animation bested only by the new hawtness, Dragons Crown.

would love an old school 2d platformer on Vita in that style as we have none

but concerned with superfrogs jump... it just appears to be REALLY floaty and doesnt seem like its conducive to tight concise platforming

is superfrog more Mario or more sonic?

I like how the pre-order section of PSN has Rayman Legends listed as more expensive than the RRP of the retail version of the game in Australia. I really wanted to get it digitally, but if it's more expensive then I mayaswell just go physical and save some money.

I'd say morelike Sonic. (although still very different to it because of the level design) SuperFrog has a sense of speed to it mixed with normal and tight platforming along with collectables, the level design's certainly something you don't really see in platformers nowadays.

As for the jump, yeah it is really floaty and I've stumbled a few times on platforming segments that required precise jumping, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't bother me too much. The floaty jump mixes well with the sense of speed you get when moving around. (imo)

If you are after 2D games maybe check Thomas was alone. It's very basic graphics wise but still fun.
No please no one should waste his money on one of the most overrated game i have ever played.
Do really some line of text cover how mediocre the game really is? It's really short, easy, annoying and repetitive, the only good segments are some with the green square and even them are not that good.
A very mediocre game with blatantly "artistic" coat of paint.

Superfrog jumps are not floaty, they are high, it's very different ;)
In superfrog you can do a short jump with a short press of x or an high jump with a long press.
Superfrog is an "explorative" platformer, it's like a metroidvania but without abilities and backtracking, it's not a simple left-to-right steeplechase like mario, you need to reach high spots with those high jumps.

All true, but nevertheless I absolutely adored it. In the case of Thomas Was Alone, yes that dialogue did do a damn good job covering up the mediocre to average gameplay.

.

For a free PSplus game it was fine. I don't care that it was short. It was just no challenge at all. The story was kinda sweet though so I liked that side of it.

Not the sort of game I would go out and buy though. Im not huge on platformers. Only really like ones like Guacemelee.

edit

Oh and when do we in the EU get Dragons crown? It looks really good. Not fussed if its not till next month as Im still going through soul sacrifice

I was playing the original Sonic game via the Megadrve Collection last night... I'd be all over a HD remake of that game like a fat kid on a cupcake.

It's only got a release window, but the Australian date was apparently confirmed for October 17th and Zavvi listed the date as October 13th for Europe, so it seems like October is likely.

There is a brilliant iOS remake/remaster in 16:9 that even adds Knuckles and Tails as playable characters. I wish it would get a Vita release but it probably wont :(

Sounds cool. The memories came flooding back... That first stage is just perfect level design IMO - I remember doing time trials with my mates back in the day on that level... Over and over again. I'm so much worse now!

Still looks great on that OLED.

So far away. :C

Though, that is around my birthday, so it could be a present to myself.

Got a little taste of Dragon's Crown last nite. Didn't get to complete the first mission.

The game looks PHENOMENAL on Vita's OLED. I mean this in every sense of the word, no usual GAF hyperbole here.

Colors have intense warmth and saturation, The clarity in the lines is visible. The backgrounds and forground scenes have a nice sense of depth. The artstyle really shines well on the screen. I started as a Dwarf. Can't wait to play more later during my lunch.

I think Im gonna be stuck playing this and Soul Sacrifice for right now. My PSP games will get shoved in the closet. Top tier handheld gaming here folks. Vita hasn't let me down since Day One.

Pretty freakin awesome firmware update we just got. So random too!!!
