Yeah, play and charge kit technically isn't required now since you can play wired and never use batteries. You would need a micro usb cable though.

I understand what you're saying about buying and enjoying it, which is fine. I myself just can't support them because they revealed their true colors with all the DRM garbage and other drivel they were spewing just a few short months ago. I think it all depends on what you believe is Microsoft's ultimate goal and ultimate business strategy. More specifically, how do gamers fit into that strategy? I personally believe their ultimate goal is one in direct opposition to many of the ideals I hold when it comes to gaming. That's why I can't support them. Not going to fault people for buying and enjoying the games. Just saying there's a much bigger picture here.
Not everyone feels the same about the ideas they have (had) for the One. Personally, I was disappointed when they announced they were reversing the DRM'ed disc installs as that would have been better for me. However, if it benefits more people the way it is now then I will deal with it.

You're underestimating how many people even have access to internet (those who buy games consoles that is), we don't even know how big the day 1 patch/activation will be. And also the problem isn't only that Kinect has to remain plugged in, what happens if the Kinect breaks? They aren't sold separately yet. If Kinect is required for XB1 to function, will we have a brick of a console if Kinect decides to die?

I think you mean overestimating.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty clear that MS has no interest in people who don't have the internet. Those people are basically a non factor for them because all of the crap they're trying to get out to their target audience is heavily internet based. A lot of people on here are still looking at this through the eyes of a gaming enthusiast. MS is going for a broader audience that is going to ultimately make them more money than the people who would only shell out the initial cost of a system that they only plan to play offline. They'll never buy Live, download arcade games, take advantage of streaming and other apps, etc....all things that make MS money. They just don't care about that demographic and it might make more financial sense for them to limit their inventory to the people who are going to ultimately be able to give them more money over time.

Or I could be totally wrong. Who knows.

Yea, it's getting rather annoying. It's part of the system, it's not going anywhere.

how certain are you of this? because personally, I am pretty certain that an xbox without a forced kinect will be out at some point in time, whether you like it or not.

Well, by the look of things, the Xbox headset looks so much better. In almost surely getting the PS4, but that Xbox headset looks quality especially compared to the earphone like PS one.

I guess, but looks aren't everything. Dre's Beats look impressive and my Sony earbuds look like shit, but my Sony earbuds sound a lot better than those Beats.

They're getting closer and closer to actually delivering on value. I don't know that they'll ever actually over deliver on value like what Mattrick said though.

But when you buy a product, it's inevitable to become emotionally attached and invested in it. Maybe not to Microsoft per se, but you will become attached to the ecosystem, the games, the people you play with online, etc. That's where the whole feeling of nostalgia comes from in the first place. Looking back on every console I've ever owned, it's easy to see just how attached we are to these systems. Your situation could certainly be different.

It is different. I never get attached to my products to be honest. Maybe some things like my car, but never my gaming consoles. I had my 360 since 05 (red ringed a few times), but for all the past 7 years I loved the hell out of it. Just last week I sold it and all the 50+ games I owned. I don't regret it at all. I play the games, enjoy the hell out of them and move on. Did the same with all my previous consoles and haven't looked back really...

Oh I 100% agree with you here. But for me, once that day comes is the day I'll drop them. In the meantime, I gotta enjoy my Halos, Gears, Forzas, etc until that point lol. I'll use them, enjoy them, then discard them :P

and better headset is included for XB1

What? How do you know that?

Yeah, play and charge kit technically isn't required now since you can play wired and never use batteries. You would need a micro usb cable though.

Of course it isn't required. He added the Play & Charge kit because the PS4 controller has a rechargeable battery. The controller is something every gamer will use, and a rechargeable battery is important.

I like the tidbit about the Kinect sensor acting as a an IR blaster. Hoping the Xbox One will control cable boxes that support HDMI-CEC? Thanks Xbox team for providing a headset in the box. Kinect alone was not an adequate solution. If you expect an extra $100 over your competition, you can't nickel and dime consumers

Still need an $99 Xbox 360 mini that connects to the One providing backwards compatibility to buy the One anytime before 2016. But other than that all my previous complaints have been addressed.

All they need to do now is include 2x NiMH batteries since standard micro usb cables work to charge the controller, and everything is perfect

I just did to you, I'll say it again this list is a launch window owners price and feature guide ;-)

I don't wanna start listing stuff way ahead of release, who knows what Instant Game Collection PS4 will have, PS3 and Vita had tons of shit I don't wanna get into the future.
My apologies I was referring to the oringnal list post. It never clarified just said "free games after gold"

You don't need a play and charge kit either since a standard Micro USB cable will work to charge your battery. Now the wireless radio is turned off when you connect the USB and data is sent through the cable (Unlike Xbox 360) that should help quicken the charge.

I got 2x AA batteries in the package when I got the 360, I wonder if they'll include 2x NiMH batteries unless they plan to blow up controllers with some fools connecting micro USB cables while using regular Alkaline batteries.

gonna guess a USB cable will only charge official battery packs and not AA batteries.

Wait, are you saying the micro USB connection will charge rechargable AA batteries while they're in the controller? Are you sure that's how it will work? Does the 360 controller currently operate as a rechargable battery recharger when you use standard rechargable batteries and connect the play and charge cable?

What? How do you know that?

But they stated that X1 controllers will now charge with a standard micro usb cable, which could mean that the controller will be packed with NiMH batteries, if not, what will happen if you insert Alkaline batteries and plug a USB cable... will your controller explode? yikes.

Looks pretty. Thank god my tv and all my receivers are glossy black. Headset should of came with the Xbox to begin with so I won't be dancing over that.

They're getting closer and closer to actually delivering on value. I don't know that they'll ever actually over deliver on value like what Mattrick said though.

I imagine he said this because of the money they spent on Kinect. If Kinect costs MS a shit load, it's over-delivering value from their side, I guess. It was a dumb comment for a $500 console, though.

Doubt it. My guess is you'll need the play and Charge battery pack, but who knows.

Larry = corny. If you are listening larry that cool thing you did with the on/off switch is not that cool and please if you ever want someone to believe your bs don'y say the xbox one is beautiful again. Its just not .

What makes you so certain? They seem to want that in the box pretty bad.

I'm not sure you're right about that. If they include rechargeable batteries and the micro USB cable will charge them, why would they even have a Play & Charge kit?

What do you expect him to say? It's worse than smeared gorillas shit?

You don't need a PS4 to play those either.

What is your point. You don't need to own any of the systems for multi platform games. When I got Hitman, Mass Effect 3 for PS3 as part of IGC did that not matter cause it's available for PC. F2P and multiplatform games are welcome and I hope for more as I don't game on a PC.
