How do you feel about PSP2? :P

Oddly, I don't mind it. My hate towards the title "PSP Vita" is completely irrational, I suppose.

so now that Killzone is coming out... beautiful might i addd - are there chances that other studios will utilize their engine or techniques and we will be seeing nicer looking games across the board down the road?

I sure would hope so! I'd love if the development studios for the Vita shared tips and tricks for optimization and such (maybe they already do; who knows). Yes, they are competing against each other, but they all want the platform to succeed as a whole (so their game will sell more).

So much this.

Two friends at my work ended up buying a Vita after they saw mine. We usually try to make a weekly get together to do some MP, whether it's Wipeout, NFS, Unit 13, or even those AR games. Two other friends outside of work I know have Vita's, but both are new dads (within NB-4 years), and don't have a ton of free time, but they LOVE the Vita because of it's ability for those shurt burst play sessions. This is far more people than the number of people I knew with PSPs. I am aquaintances with 2 other who have them, and they are on my friends list, but I don't talk/see them much.

All my other friends say, "I want one, I just don't want to spend the money on it." *Sigh.* So I send multiple links from Craigslist to them, or let them know of good bundle deals I find. Sadly, still nothing.

The mass market don't usually use those webpages. In my case, I'm always saying some friends they need to use Amazon for buying games (here in Spain, most games cost 65-70 euros, there you can buy them day-one for only 50-60). And I even offered them my Premium Amazon account so they can have free delivery. But they won't do it. Why? I think becuase they simply feel safer going to a retailer. And I've always receive the games I bought in Amazon in day-one. Amazon and SEUR (the company who delivers the games here) has sent me a message saying the game will be here tomorrow, in its release date.

Changing the subject, lately I've been playing GoW: Chains of Olympus. I think I just wanted some no brainer hack and slashing. And it's ok, but after playing Ghost of Sparta in my PSP, I found that Kratos has a different feeling when moving/atacking than in other entries I've played (Completed the 1st and Ghost of Sparta, played Ascension beta. I'm not a huge fan of the saga, so I simply buy/play them when i feel like it).

Dragon's Crown does drop frames more often than I would like. Mostly during four player games but occasionally with less. I'd say about 30-40% of the battles I've fought in have dropped to about 20-25fps. Nothing gamebreaking for sure, but it is noticeable imo.
The game looks great and I'm finding it much more fun than Muramasa Rebirth.

For some reason I had figured that DC ran at 60 fps. I guess that's too much to ask, hm.
No purchase here.

everyone in here will tell you to get it

i personally don't care for it. not sure why I would play it over a mario game

Because it's better than any Mario game (2D or otherwise) I've played in the last 15+ years.

I wonder what the likelihood of DC receiving a patch for it's framerate jankiness is... If it was constant 30fps, I'd buy it with the PSN credit I have coming... at this rate, it looks like I'll just grab Muramasa instead.

Aw. You really should have specified that since there are 3 Rayman games you can actually play on Vita. Naturally just saying Rayman I assumed you were talking about Rayman.

Well....get Rayman 1 anyway. But if you're dead set on Origins then get it. It's awesome too, albeit in a more blissful fun way instead of being a great challenge.

I second this. For a $1.50 game is DOOOOOOPE. But a little hard. -____-

There's a rumor about a redesigned Vita being announced soon (GC or TGS). Mainly due to new platinum games getting released in Japan in October, some store clerk saying that Sony is adjusting hardware shipments for September and also because there was a hardware bundle announced for God Eater 2 and no console was shown.

It really doesn't happen until later in the game, where you fight enemies in larger numbers and have access to flashier abilities. But yeah, it doesn't maintain a constant 60fps on Vita.
I'd be lying if I said that it affected my enjoyment in any significant way, but it was initially disappointing.

I've been having this issue lately where I wake up my Vita and the touchscreen doesn't work. Can't even turn it off. What's up with this?

You just want to be that guy huh?

I'll show you to the door.

I knew he was talking about Origins. And I meant what I said. I put Origins up there with Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3. Definitely better than the dumpster fire that was NSMB (DS). I liked it more than what I played of NSMB Wii too. And It was definitely better for me than anything I played in the 3D Mario genre since SM64. I <3 Rayman Origins.

That said, I just bought Rayman 1 because it has a good reputation. Rayman 2 looked a little... mediocre to me based on quick YT gameplay video watches.

I NEED VIDEO.
I'm tempted to buy it, I made space for it, but depending on how badly it chugs, I don't want to support it without a patch or something.

That's kind of the joke. Last year Sony gave a "summer" launch window for PS1 compatibility for the Vita. I think it turned up at the very end of September.. :)

I think it was the last week in August.

Indeed it was.
They were cutting it close and NA still really hasn't delivered, IMO. Still waiting for all those extra titles that EU and JP can play.

To be honest Mario platformers are pretty overrated a lot of the time anyway so that isn't saying all that much to be honest. The only Mario platformers that I've particularly liked have been World, the Galaxy games and 3D Land. NSMBW was pretty solid though.

I consider Rayman 1 leagues better than any 2D mario game and I consider Origins better than any 2D Mario game by a reasonable margin. The only one that even comes close for me is World. World was surprisingly great for a 2D Mario game. Only twice has a Mario game ever been the best platformer of a generation for me. 8 bit era and the Galaxy games. And the Galaxy games only fill the 3D section, with Super Meat Boy being the current 2D platforming king for me and multiple others above Mario as well. Sonic 3&K for 16 bit era, Rayman 1 and 2 for 32/64 bit era and anything but Mario Sunshine in the PS2/Xbox/GC era. God I hated sunshine. I wasn't big on 64 either, but Sunshine was a game I especially despised.

I'm well aware these opinions won't be popular.

Oh and I'm not sure what you don't like about the look of Rayman 2. I think it holds up very well. Still to this day one of my favourite 3D platformers ever.

Free my ass.

It's a timed demo, with a timer that starts when you've downloaded it.

I installed it yesterday, wanted to play today, all my lives are gone.
I didn't even get it to play it once.

Thats not true. It's a freemium game that lets you start with 33 free balls. More balls are sold in packs. You have to download them from the store as DLC though or else you have 0 balls.
Right now the store is bugged and you can get your 33 free balls as often as you want to.

You like what you like man. Don't ever worry about trying to fit in due to game taste. Kills me when I see people lambast others for liking different games.

I've never finished a 2D Mario game. I've gotten close but I've never went all the way. I did finish Galaxy tho. Great game.

I love Crash, Rayman 2, Spyro and pretty much any well like platformer as well.

I guess I don't have too much experience with Mario due to never primarily owning Nintendo consoles. To this date I've only had:
NES
GBC
GBA
NDS
Wii

But yet somehow... I've played a lot of Ninty games from past to current.... I guess I have good friends lol

Well, I did not like the Galaxy games, so we can share having "crazy" or "unpopular" opinions, even if they don't overlap. Put them on my list of games everyone raves about but I just don't like. 8)

As far as Rayman 2, I only scoped early level gameplay but it looked barren and empty and slow. Add that to not having an idea of how the camera controls would work on Vita (no idea what buttons do what) and I figured I'd put my $1.50 toward Rayman 3 HD instead. What is used to control the camera? And I just skipped around a long play -- it looks like it was a solid game at the time it was released, but between the fact that it's 3D (not 2D) and how old it is, I don't think it's for me regardless of the controls.

He says shortly after that point "a little bit of slowdown there." Yeah, you can see the choppiness ass the cloud of damage is popping up and then the needles or whatever are spit.

Best I could find so far.

I would disagree with Rayman 1, but everybody has differing opinions of course. The field of view is SO small, with it zoomed in to an uncomfortable degree, and it's so darn slow. I didn't play Rayman when it came out. I only played it after Origins and I just couldn't bring myself to get past an hour or so of playtime. To me Origins was absolute platforming bliss. Such a great experience.

I don't really understand why you two don't at least like Super Mario Galaxy 2. The reason why Galaxy 2 is so great is why Origins is so great (creative level design, tight responsive controls, great gameplay, awesome visuals, nicely challenging). From a level design & creativity POV it's basically to Galaxy type more linear 3D platformers what Origins is for 2D ones. Such imagination, super-tight controls & absolutely breathtaking visuals (can't believe they pulled that off on Wii). I think Galaxy 1 was a big disappointment because you could basically just run through most of the game without any effort. But Galaxy 2 fixes that and adds a fuckton of variety & more interesting stuff.

And I've just got to say lol @ Rayman 2 being better than even the worst of 3D Marios (it's better than the incredibly mediocre NSMB DS). It's simpler, has worse level design and doesn't do nearly as much with platforming as Marios do (Marios moveset in combination with the level designs allows for so much more freedom & skillful play). I like the kind of eery, yet often beautiful & relaxing fantasy atmosphere of Rayman 2, but from an actual platformer gameplay POV, it just loses to every 3D Mario. It has way less emphasis on creative platforming challenges and it's more about just exploring some nicely cartoony dark worlds, while having to do some simple platforming on the side.

The FLUDDless levels in Sunshine alone defeat anything Rayman 2 (& 3) have to offer to the platforming genre, they are platforming bliss, and FLUDD with the better levels of Sunshine are some of the best platforming money can buy as well. And I do like the 3D Rayman games, but for completely different reasons (not because they are some awe-inspiring platformers, they do an adequate job "only" on that front, but offer a distinctive atmosphere & "good enough" gameplay instead), there's just no way it has any say against even controversial Marios like Sunshine, or at least the best sides of it. FLUDD is fuckawesome apart from the cleaning aspect (the stuff that it adds to the platforming when you really dwelwe into its uses are superb) and the FLUDDless stuff is superb as well

That said, I do agree that Rayman Origins is better than most recent Mario games (though I'd put Galaxy 2 on par, if comparing 2d & 3d platformers is allowed :P ). It's great for exactly the same reasons that Mario games like Galaxy 2, Sunshine & 3D Land are (though, I'll add that Sunshine isn't perfect, but the highest highs that it reaches with some of the FLUDD stuff & all of the FLUDDless levels are some of the highest highs of the platforming genre).
