Games you remember, names you don't

I just remembered a game while browsing the "Find a game only you played"-thread.

It was a PC Beat Em Up and the setting was uh.. the inside of a PC. The main character or characters were Floppy Discs and CD-Roms and you fought in a world of Motherboards, CPUs, HDDs and whatever.

Can't remember any more than that.

There is a significant scene of that nature in Dragon Quest V, although that's a SNES title. Did one of the remakes give full anime cutscenes?

I don't think it Dragon Quest V as I would have remember Akira Toriyama art style. If it helps I also remember the hero character having to escape the villain lair, I think it was a think it was a villain lair, and he escape but hitching a ride on a yellow bird.

Well, that's almost certainly a Qix clone of some description, but there's so many of them that I don't think I could come up with specifics. I'll have a quick search for Qix clones anyway. Platform?
Whoohah, thanks to your post i found it. Volfied it was :D:D

Here's a toughy...

I'm looking for a Super Famicom fishing game with RPG elements i dont think has been released outside of japan. The game begins with you playing as a fish jumping out of the water to eat what i think were dragonflies. Eat all and the game begins.
The game is straight forward, fishing nets you extra HP which enables you to travel through tall grass to new fishing spots with new species of fish.

Any ideas?

"Fishing RPG" puts me in mind of the River King series:

There's a couple of Super Famicom entries there. Could that be yours?

Based on my random googling of Japanese only fishing games listed on gamefaqs, it looks like it is probably Tsuri Taro.

That sounds like the concept of Virus: The Game, but that was a 3d action game, not a beat 'em up... huh.

Ok let's see how good GAF is :P

PS1 game if I can remember correctly, and it was a Mech game. I was only a kid at the time so all I can remember is playing the shit out of this mech demo and walking around blasting rockets everywhere destroying anything that moves like a boss.

I 'think' it was out around the same time as G-Police (Another amazing game, needs to be rebooted for PS4. BELIEVE!)

Probably an Armored Core game.

I've been trying to remember an NES game I used to play at my babysitter's but it's all pretty blurry.

It was a side-scrolling platformer where you played as a knight. I don't believe it had a cartoony or chibi art style for the player. The most vivid memory I have is a room with stuff dripping from the ceiling that would hurt you. Pretty vague though I don't think it's a super rare or obscure game.

edit: I also think the "water drops" mentioned above may have been rainbow colored (to let you know they were poisonous or whatever)

It was a 2D fighting game for the SNES. The only distinctive quality that I remember is that every character had a "weak spot" -- some article of clothing that could be knocked off of them to make them more susceptible to damage. I think one of them was a bandana around a character's knee?

I know it's pretty vague, but I've been wondering about this game for a long time. Any help is appreciated!

NES game where you fly around in a helicopter in a cock pit view and can get out, kill guys for disguises, infiltrate buildings, etc.

Any ideas?

Ed

Fleck you may be thinking of the Wizards and Warriors games

I have played some Castlevania NES knockoff, unfortunately I don't remember much of anything about the game - only some boss/enemy that looked a bit like an egg, but even that much might not have been true...

Eight Eyes maybe? That's the most prominent NES Vania I can think of

There's an RPG I played as a kid for either the SNES or Genesis. I think you had a party of at least a few people and could equip items. The only part of the game I remember is that you can go to an area that has poisonous gas or something, and if each of your characters didn't have a certain item equipped, they couldn't breathe and died. I would be amazed if someone knew what game this was.

Unfortunately that's not it, I've searched a few lists of NES vanias looking for that game but never found it.

It doesn't help that the console wasn't actually a NES but a Pegasus, and the game was featured on one of those '10 games in 1!!!' cartridges.

before you ask, Pegasus was a russian NES clone.

There's a game on the NES called Crystalis where you have to equip a gas mask to enter a poison forest...

I'm confident it wasn't for the NES, because I never owned one. Also, I'm pretty sure battles were turn-based.

It's hard to remember, but the place with poisonous gas(?) may have been a town?

There was a beautifully animated cartoon type of game starring anthro cats? The main character was a pirate captain grey cat that had a cutlass....I remember it had cartoon animated sequences in between levels...
edit: this was on pc, around the early or mid 90s can't remember

Could be Claw by Monolith Productions.

I remember this game on PS1, it was platformer and the main character seemed to be made out of clay or something. The entire world look the same material, like clay. You might mistake him for Earthworm Jim as a kid but I just can't remember the name of the game. Anyone help me out?

Is it SkullMonkeys? I was looking for that game a while ago from memory, too.
If it is, then your description is the exact same as mine when I was looking for it.

Not exactly what you described but maybe Minipolis or Minipolis 2?

This site has a good list of games with screenshots, maybe something will jog your memory or give you something that looks/play close to what you are looking for:

It was this game called 'Conquest':

My description was waay off, but the resource you provided was invaluable...so hats off to you and thanks!

Holy crap this is the game! So many hours wasted on this game back then. Cheers!

In a different vein from some of these other things, it was an online flash game that was old-school JRPG-ish (top down with sprites). You controlled a robot on a spaceship and you tried to liberate the ship from a Guardian (or something?). You went around and fought aliens and I think there were 5 stages. I also believe that before each stage, you got to choose one of two or three robots to control, with one being attack oriented, one being speed oriented, etc.

Some really fond childhood memories of that game, but could never find out what it was. I bookmarked it as a kid, but the link became broken at some point. I believe I found the original link to the game on Cartoon Network's website (I was a kid, cut me some slack :P).

If you still have the link you can try the wayback machine.

Given the mention of G-Police, I'd be more inclined to think it's Krazy Ivan - it's somewhat more obscure than Armored Core, and both games - I think - shared demo discs for a time.

I have to just point out the irony here:

Yes! GIS confirms that's the one. Thank you sir.

I guess he was a bit cartoony looking.

It's not a rare game... but it is a Rare game.

it was a racing game, first Person racing game, the fastest I have ever played
you were racing thru pipes, just pipes the whole game, it was so damn fast
it was a pc game and was announced for ps2 but was never released if I remember correctly

key Facts:
- first person racing view
- racing thru pipes
- incredible fast

Sega dreamcast japan only game. The cover was mysterious, it had an alien or a king in it, it was kind of dark and brown with a character on it.

This sounds like Ballistics.

It's a shareware RPG I remember playing in the 90s. When you were in towns or dungeons it had a 3D perspective like Wizardry or Might and Magic, but when you were in the overworld it had an overhead perspective like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy.

Any ideas?

This reminds me of another game that came out recently (past few years) on PC. I think in the game I'm thinking of you were on the outside of a pipe though and the visuals were made up of mostly solid colours. I think it started with a P and might have had a consonant in place of a vowel. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Guessing you're talking about Proun but there's a possibility it could be something else?

I remember this old tube/tunnel shooter game where the enemies were bugs or something and your were in some kind of ship.
It was on PS1.
I think the logo was a gasmask but im not sure about that.
