I've never played or heard of the game, and the first thing I'm told is that it's not popular. Why would I therefore want to purchase it? Bare in mind that I haven't actively payed attention to anything Nintendo has done since the Wii, so my trust is all but gone.

Punch Out!! isn't. The world is balanced.
Something that isn't popular doesn't make it bad. Rhythm Heaven came out at the tail end of the DS lifespan (this is a remake of the GBA game) and got somewhat overlooked but its one of the best rhythm games out there. Honestly, it's a great game that deserves better recognition. The game just oozes charm, I'm disappointed we haven't seen any character spin offs.
I want my DJ Yellow game, dammit >_<

If Rhythm Heaven somehow gets a character rep I will be ecstatic. Since the StreetPass Plaza update included a Rhythm Heaven hat, maybe...? At least I think it will almost certainly have a stage or two between the two Smash Bros.

It was sad when Nintendo let them rot and die on the vine. They need all the support they can get at this point. I wish they would throw there money around a little bit and buy some more studios. Iwata is too conservative on this issue.

Since we already know we are getting console exclusive stages (I think I remember reading that somewhere), and we might possibly get console exclusive characters, i'd love to see Wonder Red as a Wii U exclusive and Mallo as a 3DS exclusive character.
