Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Here are the games I want from the promotion. The numbers in parenthesis are the promotion prices and ps+ promotion prices.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus (27.99 - 19.59)
Atelier Totori Plus (27.99 - 19.59)
Touch My Katamari (7.49 - 3.75)
Dynasty Warrior Next (17.49 - 8.75)
New Little Kings Story (13.99 - 9.79)

Now, I am not a PS+ member, & honestly I am tempted to join to enjoy the discounts here, but... now that I have calculated a bit, in the end buying all those games after I sign for a 1 year PS+ will cost me more money than if I just buy them outright without a PS+ sub.

Without PS+ sub: 27.99 + 27.99 + 7.49 + 17.49 + 13.99 = 94.95 bucks.
With PS+ sub: 50 (one year) + 19.59 + 19.59 + 3.75 + 8.75 + 9.79 = 111.47 bucks.

So a difference of 16.52 bucks. Hmmmmm. Thoughts? Should I just jump in regardless to PS+ even though I only use it for Vita?

You do realise that getting a 3 month sub will cost you less than not getting PS+ ($79,46 vs $94,95) right? So not getting PS+ shouldn't even be an option if you want to take advantage of those sales. The question is if you're going for a 3 month or a year subscription.

So anybody got any scoops on what to expect from Gamescom?

Lots of this:

Is Guilty Gear XX not available in the EU? Will it ever be?

It's bumming me out that it's so cheap in the US sale but buying it on my US account to play it is such a huge hassle.
I want GGXX for £6!

I'd love to see more details/demos of remote play. I know it's going to be supported in a lot more games. Can't wait!

I hope we see a GT Vita soon. I want that kind of game in my hands, so I can play for 5-10 minutes, do a couple of races, earn a bit of money, work on my car, maybe paint with the touch screen.

GT PSP didn't really have a proper career mode.

I already have WipeOut 2048 and Gravity Rush, and to be honest I am not that interested in Golden Abyss.

I hesitate because I practically only use it for Vita, and I am not even sure I will buy a PS4 later on.

Hmm, I am rather tempted to join... but yeah, I am still hesitating somewhat.

once you get it, you wont realize how you lived without it.

try the 3 month. you'll see. the discounts on the games you buy ( and keep) make up for the games you lose as rentals...its totally worth it.

For anyone that missed the sale last week or just wants a physical copy, Rayman Origins is $9.99 with free shipping at Newegg right now. I was just randomly checking out prices on games at different places when I stumbled upon this. Wasn't expecting to find this in the under $10 pile on Newegg but I was pleasantly surprised.

we need more Vita3DS bros to do this :D

If my greeting on streetpass wasn't something related to athletics at my alma mater I'd consider it. Wouldn't feel right not telling everyone I streetpass to Boiler Up!

my Greeting Message on my 3DS XL is "Buy a Vita!" whenever people Streetpass me (lol)
This is brilliant. I will change mine to say the same the INSTANT I am home from work. Or at least, while I wait for a match to load in Payday 2, so hype! (Sorry, I know not Vita, but I am just so pumped)
What's your take on the slowdown issues?
The slowdown isn't a major problem, but yes it's there. 4 people on the screen, explosions galore, beautiful slowdown. It's what makes a beat 'em up feel so good. So right.

And I was off gaf for a few days, so I missed that hige fighting game debate. I just want to add this - Why buy Marvel (great game) or DOA+ (pretty solid game) when you could buy the only fighting game that deserves your attention - Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R!!!!! C'mon!!! Marvel is my bag, between MvC3 and UMvC3 I have guaranteed over a thousand hours logged. I still like Guilty Gear over it. Stop being a voyeur, stop playing with comics, and step up to a game that will make your fingers/eyes/brain bleeeed!
:P

Edit: It's cheaper than both MvC & DOA, too!

Thinking about it, it's kind of a pain to release things like Skylanders and Disney Infinity on Vita. Every Vita game has to be released on PSN. How do you do a digital release of a game that requires physical peripherals? Well, I guess they could make an exception and not release it on PSN, or perhaps make the additional toys just straight up DLC for this version.

I can't see SCE publishing a port of either too. They'd have to manufacture Vita specific bases and ensure continued compatibility with future expansions unless they do a "EVERYTHING'S JUST DIGITAL" release, but that would lose a big selling point. SCE typically does three game deals, so if that's the length of the agreement SCEE signed with Disney it should now be up (Cars 2, Phineas & Ferb: Across the Second Dimension, and Epic Mickey 2). If they go further I guess they'd port the Planes video game, or the new Phineas & Ferb, as neither game is even on PlayStation hardware.

It's kind of a shame too since the 3DS version of each game isn't a direct port of the console game, but something completely different.

I agree about it not making sense for SCE to publish the Vita version. However, I don't think digital release would be an issue. They would just charge a lower amount and say in the description "A character figure is required to play this game (Not included)." Or, like you said, just make it a DLC code for the starter pack digital version or something. I mean, Disney Infinity will probably be on the Wii U eShop. Well, then again, they're a little more lenient about not requiring people to put up digital versions, so I don't know.

I sat there giggling whilst I set it up, and then giggled at the fact I was giggling. The missus asked what had tickled me and when I told her she just said "you're such a fucking loser". That made me giggle even harder.

You can't beat a little childish indulgence here 'n' there.

(The similarities in our last couple of posts are making me wonder if we're in fact the same person).

Mines the same! :D except my friend just said 'is Sony paying you? All you do is bitch about the 3ds and now you're advertising another console with a Nintendo one...'

I took it when I was studying in Italy last year and every person I street passed got 'Buy a Vita!'

XP

Considering Sol1dus is a beginner at fighting games, throwing one of the most demanding/difficult games at his is ridiculous.

Also, from what I remember, the console versions have terrible online and the Vita version has no online at all (or adhoc only?).

Definitely not the recommended game for someone who is a casual at fighters.

I might pick it up, because I love Arc System Works, but then I remember some of the stuff I just typed and I might not.

Is there any reason to grind out a few levels at the end of my first P4G run to knock out a couple more persona fusions? Or should I just go find the final boss and be done with it?

It's also 4:3 aspect ratio... I can't do that shit man. Even when I play ps1 games I stretch them out because I can't stand black/empty mess on my screen.
XD

It's probably a simple demand vs cost mindset. If they don't think they'll get a substantial profit from selling the game on Vita, they don't feel compelled to port it. Their target audience isn't easy to find among Vita owners, so while it wouldn't even cost them that much to port- it's the time it would cost them that also plays a part.

I don't care for black bars on the side of my screen as well.

Marvel combos aren't really that hard to perform, ABC launch BBCS super combos work for almost the entire cast. it's not until you throw assists and TACs into combos that they become difficult, or air dash, flight cancel, air dash, flight cancel combos before it gets a bit ridiculous.

You can beat plenty of people on the vita with basic fighting games skills (spacing, sense of normals, punishes, etc)

I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with making that change. I don't play my 3DS much, but it does have SSFIV for it.

I play my vita way more, but I'm glad I own both

Yea I guess I should have mentioned the lack of online, and insanely brutal game mechanics. BUT - might as well start out on the hardest, then everything else will be easier! I started out my competetive FG's on GG on the Dreamcast. My thumb is forever callused, thanks to that pad.

I know what you mean. It was a little odd at first, but the game moves far too fast for you to be worrying about the sides. You can strecth it, but meh. The PSP version of GGAC+ is widescreen, and plays exceptionally well. It just doesn't have all the enhancements that "R" got in it's recent upgrade. If you can spare the cash, I highly recommend it! Otherwise, Mahvel is the only answer.

Just realized that Rayman Sale ends today, and I managed to buy Rayman Origins before they update the site. This is my first Rayman so I hope it does not disappoint.

Everyone who still doesn't have it better buy Sound Shapes while it's still on sale. I put the game down ever since finishing the albums last year but just reinstalled it last night and bought the DLC.

I was really bad at platformers when I first got the game but I'm slightly better now so I appreciate the game a lot more. And apparently, Beat School is a lot of fun.

I just pretend that Death Mode doesn't exist.

Since you said you pretend death mode doesn't exist, you caught my attention (I hate it too). Which dlc packs are worth getting? Did they ever make one that actually adds more levels instead of stuff to use in the level editor?

I just checked again (which I should had done in te first place)

http://youtu.be/nf37ts-4_MQ
Doa5+ has it.

I think mvc3 just has a cross controller.

I think I'm going to get both. X) they both have an 'easy mode' of sorts so when I get frustrated I can do that. Plus, I feel comfortable playing online with Vita-Gaf.

you wouldn't believe how many hours my son has put into the game on easy mode. i'm actually buying it again so he'll play his own vita

we need more Vita3DS bros to do this :D
Yeah! Vita la revolution!
Do I technically count as a Vita3DS bro if I have both systems but never actually touch my 3DS?
I have two 3DS's and rarely play them now, so you're not alone there.
I changed my 3ds message to "I Love my vita!" and my psn profile (dont have a ps3) to "I love my 3ds!"
That's a nice platform message reversal!
Can't believe I never thought of doing that with my PSN message.
I'd like a review copy too.
That makes two of us, especially after me getting a taste of singleplayer and wanting more. :(

It's a pretty enjoyable platformer (and best played on Vita imo) so I'd say it wont disappoint you.

Any Starlight Inception kickstarters around? What's up with the game, shouldn't you guys already play the beta?

Beta should be declared this month. They're focusing on AI improvements and various optimizations. Dunno if there will be a Vita beta atm but I'll be checking out the backer forums in a bit.

The Car Mini-Album adds a few more campaign levels. The gameplay's different too since you're inside a car the whole time. It's good.

I also got all the sound packs since they add new Beat School challenges. But yeah, no new levels though.
