Grand Theft Auto Online: Official Gameplay Video, launches October 1st

this looks awesome right? i think this looks awesome.

i don't really want to purchase any games for last gen anymore, but... screw it.
 
I have to say, I like how V mirrors SA in that it gives us one hell of a send off for the generation.

Even has some familiar game elements from SA making their return in V. I feel like I did back in 2005. This game is going to be something special.
 
Someone suggested that the 2 week window is a very good way for R* to gauge the server capacity they will need for the multiplayer launch.
 
if gta online takes place before V, then rockstar is gonna have to describe why all the craziness and chaos of gta online suddenly went down when Michael, Franklin and Trevor came around
 
I guess I can hold off my degree for another 3 months. Gta4 online was so much fun but I can't help but feel this game will be a silent ghost town on ps3 and xbox360 (party chat really ruined the social aspect of playing with strangers)

As would I. A version that looks better. A version that runs better. A version with a higher player count online. A version I can play on my Vita with remote play. There isn't a question in my mind that I'd double dip. I just hope that if a PS4 version does come out that saves from the PS3 version will cross over.

Ah okay, I guess I was thinking of when you warp in RDR then it loads players closer to that area. I didn't really play much of RDR online so that is my bad. I did play Test Drive Unlimited quite a lot when it launched and it had the system where it'd load players depending on your location. Of course you could add players to your group which meant they would always be in your game no matter how far you went. Test Drive only had 8 players, but I remember seeing people even in the most weird locations (off the road and driving up a mountain for instance)

I don't get it. Shit is always happening in Los Santos. It's not like it only starts when the main characters start.
 
Just woke up and watched this first thing. Then started daggering my couch.
And now we play the waiting game...
 
This looks pretty great, another reason to buy gta v. Seems kind of a waste though with this gen ending.

Has there been any confirmation of a next gen port?

the map looks fucking huge.

i'm ok with the multiplayer being held a couple of weeks. seems like a shit ton of a fun and i'd rather have the servers running nicely.

Very disappointed of no mention of cops and crooks returning. That was what gave gta4 the legs it has. People still playing that mode on Xbox live as I speak . Oh we'll, at least I have no regrets now jumping into next gen and skipping this .

That was my favorite mode too but they didn't seem to mention any specific game mode. I don't think it's just going to be the lobby like area like before. I feel sertain there will be MP modes for you to start games in.
 
This is the only game that has made me look to buy a PS3, there's a GS deal for a 40 GB one and 5 games at $180 is that a good deal?

On TLOU vs GTA V:
Story wise, narrative wise, TLOU is the clear winner IMO

But pure gameplay, overall fun, and enjoyment that I'm going to have, I can't think any game beating GTA V for a long time

I don't even know why people are bringing up TLOU for. TLOU will still be one of the best games of this gen I played but it's far too different for me to compare it to GTA V. Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row now that's another story.

Totally agree. The best part of it is the relative blackout Rockstar enforces on prerelease media on all their games. There's always so much stuff that hasn't been shown before launch when you actually get to play the game.

I think they were comparing them as GOTY candidates. They're obviously two very different genres. TLOU is my GOTY for story but GTA V will be my GOTY for everything else

But between open world sandboxes, SR4 is a guilty pleasure power fantasy, Watchdogs hasn't proven itself yet, Sleeping Dogs is a lot of fun, AC4 looks like a great historical pirate game but not much an AC game

And I don't think any of those compare to GTA V

I love open world games. I love crime fiction. Rockstar has never disappointed IMO and GTA is my favorite game series. I still play IV to this day so I really can't see how I won't absolutely adore V

But TLOU was the first game ever to get me emotionally invested in the characters and story

Ok, maybe I'm being premature and overhyped. But still...it's the biggest GTA yet.
