Sony's Gamescom Media Briefing On "Release Plans for PlayStation 4"

For The Order, I'm guessing there will be a playable demo at E3. Just trailers until then.

Probably. If they're going dark through this fall/holiday there's just about zero chance the game releases before next fall.

On one hand, PS4 will probably have a stacked holiday next year. On the other hand, the almost certain post-Infamous: SS drought is going to drag.

I sure hope so. I played Uncharted 2, and that was enough Uncharted for me. Let's move on to something better. Or at least new.

I could see them letting another team at Naughty Dog taking a crack at it while the old Uncharted team creates a new IP.

On a side note, I felt Uncharted 2 was the best of the series. Uncharted 3 was good but the story just didn't meet 2's high bar. Also, I liked the use of color in Uncharted 2 over 3's slightly grittier look.

Either most of the talent left the building or they are working on a PS4 game. Vita is a dead system, for their sake I hope they aren't working on another handheld game. I really LOVED Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow. Uncharted GA was their first mediocre game.

Give me more of that mediocrity pls.
I loved the game. The only problem is that it has way too many collectibles.

I think they are only offering a limited driveclub because they have nothing else to offer in terms of free games. Playstation 4 has no games yet so it's kind of hard to offer free games right now. They probably cut a deal to get driveclub up (in at least a limited sense) so they have something to offer besides already released free to play games. I image ps± will start off pretty slow for ps4

Edit: plus now that xbox is doing games for gold the free game offering service is about to start getting competitive. Sony is going to have to up their game if they want to compete.

Games for Gold is only up until the release of the Xbox One

I think you're mistaken. Tretton says, and I quote:

"In addition to Drive Club PS+ Edition, Plus members will get a new title every month for free including Don't Star, Outlast, and The Secret Ponchos; three incredible titles you just saw during the first year of PS4."

One title per month, singular, regardless of release date. If two of these games come out the same month then we are getting them whenever Sony decides. Then again, if they are spread out, then yes, you are right.

We will see.

I'm sure Sony as part of this deal has planned when the titles are supposed to be released.

Lol, save this sort of comment for when you see actual gameplay. If you are still not interested then so be it.

This is precisely why I'm not interested right now. CG/cutscene trailers do nothing for me and tell me nothing about the game and if that's how they choose to reveal their big new game then I'm going to ignore it. Unless they had a gameplay demo planned then I'm glad it's skipping the conference. Save it for better announcements.

Playstation Plus members get 3 free indie games for the PS4 launch.

- Don't Starve

- Secret Ponchos

- Outlast

I partially agree. I think the first year games shown thus far are certainly in MS's favor. But the hardware isn't. I'm not a fan of Killzone, and my interest in Knack has waned considerably. And DriveClub is instantly on my ignore forever list due to 30fps. So far... the games I want on PS4 are multiplatform titles like Assassins Creed and Battlefield. Hopefully Sony announces another launch title (at least launch window) that can spark interest.

On the same token... not interested in KI, Halo, Dead Rising, Gears and Fable! But Titanfall, Quantum Break, Project Spark look very interesting.

Well you can always improve your software ( games ) but not your hardware in current consoles , so Xbone line could look more interesting at launch but in the long run PS4 has te potential to deliver better experiences. PS3 proved it at the end of its generation.

Honestly all I really need to see if the new ui/os, give me an in depth preview and some new info(if there's still more) on the system and I'll be set.

I really don't care about seeing more games now, I know they'll come.

The Order: 1886 will skip Gamescom:

Oh well. I hope it's not showed behind doors either, so devs don't waste their time doing demo builds.

Mortimer said Sony was pulling unannounced games. The Order skipping Gamescom wouldn't have anything to do with that.

He said Sony was pulling content from the Press Conference.

Anyone with some sense can see their aren't blowing their load. Order 1866 is not necessary for them to have a great show when they have lots of other things to talk about.

I don't expect every single 2014 game from Sony at GC.

You guys worry way too much lol. We all know good games are coming. Famous did hint at Sony not showing many new things at GC because Sony feels they don't really have to atm.

He said they are playing things closer to their chest. MS pretty much showed their hand at e3.

I already know I'm getting a PS4. It looks good.

The thing I need to see more of and be convinced on is a Vita. That thing needs a reboot, price drop, games... something!

That'd be cool with me. I guess I'm not against more Uncharted, it's just that I want ND's top talent working on something new.

So now they're being complacent?
They've not released the system yet, they need to keep those preorders warranted.

What did he say?

That a ton of stuff that was meant to be at Gamescon was now not going to be there.

It takes 2 click to cancel a pre order for a PS4 and order a XO. Stuff like MS announcing this alleged FIFA deal turns heads.

I do want to see the OS, but Sony showed next to nothing at E3, we are hearing rumours the Gamesom show is light on content......

If MS can show games not coming for a year what do Sony gain by keeping these 20 exclusives to themselves ?

So now they're being complacent?

I think the GT and TLG fiascos of last gen has made Sony more cautious in showing off what they have to offer before it is ready. People are still upset over how long GT5 took and it appears that TLG will be a PS4 game. Better that they wait until the time is right than to rush out and show things that may not arrive any time soon. Things already look promising and we know much more is coming.

Announcing a game that's a year or more away will not affect pre-orders majorly either way.

The reasoning, according to mortimer, is that internal Sony numbers show that the PS4 is doing very well in terms of pre-orders, over the XB1, so they feel they can afford to slow drip the information, as opposed to blowing their load on games that won't be out for a year or more.

Remember, we still have TGS, we still have VGA this year, so no they have other forums to showcase their big stuff.

Of course, on the other hand, Verendus, who famousmortimer has said he trusts more than his own sources, has said that he was told to be excited, so....it'll all be clear tomorrow.

That I can reason with, I thought you were trying to write the game off entirely.

That a ton of stuff that was meant to be at Gamescon was now not going to be there.

Gopher did say that a lot of the info in the thread was very wrong. Verendus also said that he was told that he would be impressed. We have no idea what is going to happen just yet. The Order has no bearing on whether or not this will be an impressive conference.

Yeah, it's just one game. And who knows, maybe the press will actually see the game and we'll have previews for post-Gamescom.
