Grand Theft Auto Online: Official Gameplay Video, launches October 1st

I am very impressed by the graphics in this game. I installed GTAIV Stories from Liberty City on PC last week and I was simply amazed at how much better this game looks compared to the vanilla GTAIV on PC. I couldn't stand the bad graphics and uninstalled it.

Just curious, will you guys get it on PS3 or 360?

360, expect it to perform or look slightly better, and prefer the 360 controller. Eventually will get it on PC where it will also be played with a 360 controller, so it makes more sense. Also my ps3 (original 60 gig) will be decommissioned as soon as PS4 comes out, seeing as it has no BC, I do not want it sitting under my TV any longer than it needs to.

Just curious, will you guys get it on PS3 or 360?

360. I'm thinking it's the safer version to get, although hopefully both versions run well and judging by how they've been advertising the PS3 version either should be fine. Also I think the Last of Us has nearly killed my 60 gig PS3, so I'm a bit wary of running any new games on it.

Just curious, will you guys get it on PS3 or 360?

360. Clearly R* have learned a lot in terms of how to better code for PS3 compared to when they did GTA IV, but my thinking is that no matter how much they've learned since then they could never really catch up to their level of prowess in developing for the 360, which is essentially just an old PC inside a console shell. They can code for it in their sleep. I'm sure the PS3 version being used to promote the game is all down to R*'s current deal with Sony, and I don't think they'd have agreed to that unless the PS3 version was good enough. But I'm sure the 360 version will have a slight edge. Remember how everyone noticed trees were missing in the game play reveal video, compared to earlier screen shots? I'll bet those missing trees turn up in the 360 version.

The game was demoed on PS3?

Yep.

And, of course, the single-player demo we saw was also demoed on PS3. Is PS3 your lead platform?

Not really. This is probably the first game we've done where both platforms have been running in parallel. There's very, very little difference in the development state of them both. They're both very similar. It would be hard to tell them apart.

My local store (which is very reliable) lists the PC version for June 14.

700 missions in GTA Online!

  • The camera will zoom out and pan away to your online character seamlessly. During the animation, a matchmaking process will be in progress.
  • Matchmaking will depend on which friends are playing, and what people have ranks near yours.
  • You can do almost anything you can do in single player in GTA Online.
  • Each mission requires a rank depending on difficulty and complexity. The bigger your rank, the more difficult the missions will be.
  • There are around 700 missions in GTA Online.
  • Missions will be ordered randomly as you play Online.
  • For certain heists you might need certain weapons, vehicles or characters such as a sniper or a driver. This will also depend on the mission creator if you download the mission from the Social Club.
  • Some missions are so complex they need plenty of good communication.
  • There will be descriptions to help each character on its heist function.
  • You can change weather, time of day, time you want it to rain or to be a certain weather state, radio station to be tuned at the start of the race or mission in the Content Creator.
  • There is something called "team lives". If you have 4 team lives and 4 people, if everyone dies there will be 0 lives left, or if you die 4 times, the team will have 0 lives left, which means if anyone dies, it's mission failed.
  • You can watch races and deathmatches on your apartment TV.
  • There are masks to hide from the cops.
  • The Online will be run on the Social Club servers, data will be stored on the cloud. There are datacenters from NY to San Diego, and more Rockstar studios.

After listening to GTA V o'clock about the GTA Online reveal they mentioned a feature that if cops spot you driving around in a stolen car then you gain a wanted star. Does this apply to single player?

One thing I haven't heard at all that leaves me kind of disappointed is the talk of carry over from your Max Payne crews into GTA V. Has there been any mention of it online? Should I even keep my neogaf crew tag anymore? (No one seems to play on 360 anymore.)

I wouldn't read too much in the PR numerology.

Crews from MP3 will carry over to GTA V.
