New Driveclub screenshots

It's ever hard to tell how a game is good simply watching a video, but it seems fun.

And IMHO it looks good. Some details are amazing. Others no.

Low quality screens from vid. Textures, shadows and lighting wise it looks absolutely fantastic. A noticeable difference to Forza 5, and I watched these two vids back to back.

Fuck this shot is insane looks real, the detail in the background!

Just watched both the Drive Club and new Forza 5 footage that was uploaded and to be honest, the Forza stuff looked extremely rough but 60 fps. Drive Club seems to have developed a bit of an aliasing situation since the old build but it looks pretty fantastic. Seems like Evolution really wanted to model lots of details in the tracks, even one's that people probably won't see. I just hope that didn't cost them too much performance because a racing game's fast and having swaying trees and fully modelled rocks/plants/backdrop is something you'll really only notice when standing still.

EDIT: Just saw the screenshots people posted and again, the beautiful realistic lighting they use is really best viewed when standing still. Maybe they need to add a hiking mode to it so we can enjoy all this scenery :)

I like that they're racing in a Masarati Gran Turismo :P

Car models seem fairly ordinary in 3rd person view (and no other real cars on track other than ghosts). But the track is very 'rich' - lots of scenery and stuff to make it seem alive.

and nice reflections in the windscreen

Overall a nice improvement on the E3 demo. Some way still to go, but 3 months until launch so they have time.

the 'inside car but can't see the steering wheel' view would be good for playing with your own wheel on a big projection screen :)

I just saw the video blim posted and I have to say that the game looks really disappointing IMO. As you said mountains need work, there's lots of jaggies/shimmering and is it me or is the skybox horrible? and that's off-screen which tends to make things look better. :/

lol, "skybox" horrible, I think you mean the volumetric clouds which move and filter sunlight.

We really do need direct feed. Can't believe Evo haven't provided any yet. Not a trailer, as in, just a race. Full actual gameplay.

As far as the Gamersyde torrents go, Driveclub has more seeders/leechers. DRIVECLUB IS MORE POPULAR, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

How much direct feed stuff have we seen of the other games? I don't think there's been much from them, either.

Can't say I saw those. At all.

Skybox looked normal, I think the clouds are volumetric, which makes sense since they talked about cloud shadows moving around. The only glaring thing was really the mountains.

Infamous Second Son had direct feed shortly after the e3 conference and that's coming out next year.

So if you have volumetric clouds which move is not a skybox? how should I call it then?

You just call them volumetric clouds. Essentially they have real volume and move, shape, shift etc in a dynamic way, and even affect light, shadows and so on. It's a far more taxing and far more realistic approach to rendering clouds than simply using sky boxes. They actually change and affect the world around them, at least in DriveClub anyway. Clouds actually cast their own shadows.

Of course it looks better! I hope some of you morons are learning a lesson about not condemning games based on super rough pre-alpha builds.

Oh OK, I was under the impression that skyboxes can have 3d objects/layers in them.

Well, technically it isn't. Skybox is, as the name implies, an actual textured 3D box (or close to it) that is simulating the sky/background.

Thanks for clarifying.

Rough in what way? Gameplay? Framerate? IQ?

Is it running at 60fps now? I know they were debating it.

Framerate and IQ could use some fixes, and I don't doubt it will be done by the release date. Showfloor demo runs at 30fps, and has a few slowdowns here and there.
Gameplay is solid, as expected.

looks pretty fantastic.
Even at 30 fps.

If this game turns out great, it may make me cancel my Xbone preorder since all I want on it is Forza and maybe KI.

Cam footage often looked better, can give things a softer edge. Not sure that's such an issue with HD cameras though, but back in the days of PS2 cam footage it certainly was...
Oh, ok! I just assumed that off-screen generally doesn't show off a game as well as direct feed. I guess it can hide a few things though - but couldn't that be taken either way?

I just hope this is like Project Gotham in some form. Really loved the arcade gameplay of the series. Also love the autolog style challenges, really enjoyed beating friends times on NFS and even Motorstorm Vita.

Can't wait.

My theory is that they're getting the core aesthetics out in public and visible as much as possible *first*, then will (obviously) be tightening up the performance of the engine.

I really doubt they will squeeze 60fps out of this game now so soon to release. I think the decision is made. They are going to a solid 30fps and making it as pretty as possible.

Perfection. It looks amazing already and I would love for them to push it. My most hyped launch game by far!

Looks great :D
I really love the cockpit view without steering wheel.
Can´t wait to play the crap out of it.

I really dont´t know if i´m still going to buy GT6. Such a bad timing.
