New Driveclub screenshots

I really doubt they will squeeze 60fps out of this game now so soon to release. I think the decision is made. They are going to a solid 30fps and making it as pretty as possible.
That was expected. Unfortunate but not unexpected as it's a launch game and they didn't take the decision to build a 60 fps at early design stage.

I hope the framerate will be stable when the game releases though. The game will have to go gold around mid October (one month before PS4 US release) so time flies.

Sony should really have pushed for GT6 on PS4 imo. I don't think racing fans will want a 30fps game over Forza 5.

Racing fans know the difference between an arcade racer and a sim. Going by this logic nfs won't sell at all this holiday because gt6 and forza are coming out the same time.

The only thing for me that looks odd is the hand-movements in the in car view. The constant swerving of the hands doesn't fit well. Maybe they're placeholder animations ;).

But I have to say it looks tons better now that we have decent footage. The sense of speed is great, I had to check the video info to see that it was encoded at 30fps.

I don't think racing fans are suddenly going to flock to Forza/Xbone just because #DC is 30fps.

It didn't happen with PS3 and it won't happen with PS4. Forza sales prove that.

I'm not quite impress with it at all based on the game mechanics. Seems to be an ordinary racer with huge Text Alerts on the screen. You really don't get a sense of scale since the track is so small.
valid point in the first part. the way that the maserati turns in this video is not very convincing either.
about the second part, the scale, we dont know yet. environment sure looks rich though.

Car models seem fairly ordinary in 3rd person view (and no other real cars on track other than ghosts). But the track is very 'rich' - lots of scenery and stuff to make it seem alive.

and nice reflections in the windscreen

Overall a nice improvement on the E3 demo. Some way still to go, but 3 months until launch so they have time.

the 'inside car but can't see the steering wheel' view would be good for playing with your own wheel on a big projection screen :)

agreed.

also my favorite camera seems to be the same one. I dont really like cockpits as they take too much road space, but this "just behind the wheel" cam looks like it could do it 8)

blim wrote about minor framerate and iq things, but i also believe these will be ironed out.

the sense of speed in the bumper cam looks good.

This video makes me really want to play the game. I love the details. Even the plants bend over when you drive over them.
Aside from that a lot of arcade racers are 30fps and they still sell as long as the game is fun.

of course not! microsoft makes damn sure of that, by having ridiculous policies for wheels, amongst other things...

Must be something like photo mode(bullshots), the game does NOT look like this when playing. It looks very avarage, like a ps3 game.

They are too scared to put up a direct feed version of gameplay.

Wut? This is offscreen gameplay. BlimBlim played the game and recorded it.

EDIT: Oh nvm, I keep forgetting this thread started off with screenshots.

visting this thread...

... and i'm out.

But he's right. It really doesn't look impressive at all in that Gamersyde video. Colours are obtrusively bright and I see quite a bit of aliasing. Also, choppy shadows. It's sad that FM5 runs at double the framerate and still manages to look better.

I think we should compare it to Forza Horizon given the circumstances. 30fps, open-world-game. This is more fitting. I think the game looks good but has to look way better than it does now, given PS4's power and "only" 30fps. Still could be fun, though.

where is driveclub open world game?

I know it was heavily hinted at the beginning, but i havent seen a single thing yet that makes me think that this is not just another closed cirquit racer.

tracks shown until now are in the 1:00 to 1:30 radius per lap. hardly long closed courses, let alone open world....

Dat windscreen reflection unf

That's nothing. Look what happens when the sun really pops though:

Game looks phenomenal, best looking console racer by far.

It's not, it has detailed open environments like their WRC 1-3 games on PS2, each environment will have a network of roads snaking through it, tracks will be point-to-point and circuit based.

I wonder if we can make our own by placing barriers? Need details on tracks Rushy...

I know its not open road, but I keep seeing this reference almost every day.
also, I dont know if there will be shortcuts and stuff like in nfs, or even networks of roads like you say, suggesting different courses to take in the same race etc.
but what I have seen until now, has shown none of the above. yet.

I swear, this is just flat out trolling at this point. Either that or you people have some visual deficiencies.

Drive Club looks great but am I the only one that if were told these were from the same game I would believe you?
These are from a 2010 GT picture thread http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413235

That's not Forza 5? Well damn.

Like I said in the other thread, this looks great. The scenery is clearly on another level compared to the likes of Forza. They never should've said they were targeting 60fps though.

Honestly, NFS(which is 30fps) will outsell the shit out of F5.

Honestly, probably the biggest issue here. It's not that it isn't, it's that they said they will try to target it.

Having said that, if they can actually hit it whilst looking like it does with ZERO compromises... fuuuuuuuck (but I doubt they could. I doubt anyone could).

I think majority of Neogaf were prob giving them shit about 60fps here and on twitter so they said it just to get the heat off. I love 60fps too but only when it's within developers vision or titles that have a history with it, not new IP's that clearly were never meant to have it as it was never a selling point to begin with.

I'd love to say this is a stupid question but you never know with these new consoles so here goes.....does Driveclub have a single player mode or campaign?.

The game looks MUCH better by the way, much better and i'm fine with 30fps as long as its locked.

Personally, I think they've gotten more shit for saying they were aiming for it and then showing stuff that was 30 (2 demo builds in a row now)

it's bad PR. if you're not sure you can make a certain framerate, just keep your mouth shut and focus on the stuff you CAN do (dynamic lights or car details or online stuff, etc, etc)

Pretty sure there is a single player mode.

-Jaggies
-Sub 30 FPS frame rate
-1 car on screen
-no collision detection
-ugly hud
-no cloud shadows
-no cloud movement
-screen tearing

+tracks look great

yea.....no wonder why Sony is giving this away for free on PSN+

are you suggesting the game doesn't have collision detection or are you upset that there's no collision detection with ghost data?

-Jaggies where?
-Sub 30 FPS frame rate WIP stage demo
-1 car on screen WIP stage demo, we know it's not just 1 car in the final game.
-no collision detection lol?
-ugly hud subjective
-no cloud shadows WIP stage demo, confirmed to be in the game already.
-no cloud movement WIP stage demo, confirmed to be in the game already.
-screen tearing WIP stage demo

+tracks look great

yea.....no wonder why Sony is giving this away for free on PSN+

.

I don't understand why they keep showing ugly builds of this game. it is doing more harm that good. Forza 5 at 60 FPS looks orders of magnitude better

I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. All they've showed so far are time trials. What is going on with this game? If this is all they can show so far maybe it needs more time in the oven. Considerably more time in the oven.

DriveClub is shaping up to be a complete disaster, that's what's going on. It does not seem like a launch game to me....Forza 5 is a launch game! not this IMO

It is unbelievable how much better and polished Forza 5 looks compared to this.

Except it doesn't. This looks great, and the lighting and envirnments in this Gamescom demo look way better than Forza 5.
