Killzone Mercenary Beta Discussion

I've always enjoyed KZ multi, but I'm honestly surprised how good it has transferred across to the Vita. Looks, sounds and plays great.

Quick question....do you lose you valour/stats if you get disconnected from the host.
 
So, you're one of those unkillable laggers that kills others! :p

I was actually worried about being "that lagger", but I did ask the friends I played with, and I'm good :). I actually haven't encountered any laggers as yet either strangely. Though I am only 1 day into the beta.
Had my first 1v1 and 3vs1 match just now - was terrible D:

Edit - wish there was a way to join a public game that's lacking in players instead of just being able to join friends.
 
Anyone got any handles they use on their vita. Is it any easier to play with them and which ones are you using?

I use a Dualshock 3 like Assist Grip and concave analog nubs. It definitely helps and it's much more comfortable for long sessions.
 
Please can anybody tell me how to improve the controls?

I activate the use of motion controls (worked fine in Uncharted GA), but nothing happens.

I have tried with the configuration, but still, is very hard to point and shoot, sometimes I bump in front of somebody and I can't not even aim right.

It only kicks in when you're aiming down the sights (default controls: left trigger), I had the same problem.
From the one game I've managed to play, I think it will take me a while to get used to the controls in this game, but it looks stunning.
 
Okay, so it seems like everybody's spending their cash today on the big guns today. Just had a rather "explosive" match :)

The plights of having a shared economy and progression between singleplayer and multiplayer. A grenade launcher is objectively better than a pistol.
 
played a full match last night and i'm very impressed. It looks incredible and plays well. The gyro aiming could be a little faster (even at full speed in the options) but other than that it controlled tightly.
Can't wait to pick it up in a few weeks!
 
I got a King (of Clubs) Valour card.

What does that mean?

"Valor Cards follow the same ranking as a normal deck of playing cards; 2 being the lowest, Ace being the highest.

The suit of your Valor Card is determined by attaining consecutive kills with different weapons:
Diamonds - sub-machine guns
Spades - sniper rifles
Clubs - assault rifles and light machine guns
Hearts - secondary weapon"

That's the explanation, just got Queen of Clubs but I've been using the incendiary shotgun a bit lately so I might end up rolling over to hearts.
 
Love this game a lot but I definitely feel like I'm being held back in some scenarios by the controls. I'm sure I will adjust over time though, something not quite right with the analog sticks but I can't put my finger on what.

I just tried this for the first time. Was seriously not expecting it to be this good. Graphics, framerate and gameplay were all excellent. Definitely picking this up when it's out. I think I'm just gonna play this the rest of the day now.
 
Is it safe yet to say that this beta has pretty much taken the crown of "Best Handheld FPS Ever Made"?

At least until the main game comes out.

Not a lot of competition I know, but I'll be damned this thing wont be eating up a TON of my free time on the train....

lol, the animation you get when you fail to pick a buddy up off the ground is hilarious. Your hand kind of just misses his, awkwardly.
 
I think this game is awesome. I played one game so far, but was immediately and ended the round first place in my team 24:27.

This game is a buy.
 
game is nice..scenery and object popin is done amazingly well (fades in kind of pixelated). but..would be better with a mouse and keyboard
 
I have both been spawn killed, and killed others who have spawned in front of me. Kind of annoying :/

Very impressed with KZM. Played about 4 hours of the beta so far. Wish there were more maps to try.
Only gripe so far: Guerilla should fix the spawning, but otherwise I am buying this Day 1.

I got an Ace of Clubs Valor card - I don't think I am that good. Wonder what criteria the issuance of a valor cards is based upon.
 
How do you throw grenades? Can't figure it out!

You need to have grenades equipped on your loadout (they aren't there by default).
You can tap the grenade icon to equip a grenade, and press the right trigger to throw.
Or press down on the D-pad to quick throw a grenade.

Can somebody explain me why are there invulnerable players?

I emptied three cartridges on a guy, one of them only in his head and he didn't died, later a fellow and me targeted the same player from different angles and he didn't fell, just killed us one by one without even looking for cover.

Sounds like lag/bad connection. I could be wrong though, haven't experienced this.

Is there a Van-guard that has a benefit like this?

I feel the same. I think it might be because the analog sticks are a little short and don't have quite enough "throw" to them. That and maybe sensitivity settings which I've been experimenting with.

I have been checking the trader and I think that maybe is the ballistic armor. But if so, that would be an absurd amount of protection.
 
Checked this out and GODDAMN its fucking beautiful but man its really network sensitive :(

Getting eventual disconnects from matchmaking is a bummer right now.
 
I jumped on this for the first time last night, and all I can say is WOW!

First off, THIS feels like the promise of the PSP and Vita of console game on the go brought to fruition. Everything about this game screams top notch production. There was thought put into this game. I really like how this game introduces some new things to KZ MP. Picking up the valour cards is a fun idea, and I like the power ups that drop around the map. Piloting the Mantis system for the first time was awesome, I was not expecting to drill into peoples heads like that! Coolest weapon in an FPS in a while. The framerate never dropped for me, which was incredible, and the game was just super fun. The only reason I stopped was because I found out it was 2 A.M, but man I wanted to keep going. The controls feel great too. This is easily, EASILY the best FPS on a handheld, and it makes me more excited for Shadowfall as well !

Great job GG CAMBRIDGE ! Day one purchase for sure.

My first match I couldn't even see anything because of how wild the controls were. I ended up having to lower the sensitivity to just 4 notches, it's much better now and I can actually see enemies.

Conversely, motion control seems to be a lot less sensitive than UGA, you might want to bump that up a bit.

Graphically, this game is astonishing, and it's super crisp. I do wish however, that we were given some sort of short tutorial, I have no idea how to deal with those mini-games you're presented with when you engage a vanguard pod.
