Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Nobody is too cool for PS+.

It just makes you look foolish, really.

I mean just for the sales alone it's dumb not to have it.

I personally don't care for any of the "big" titles vita got in the US on the instant game collection

if you don't buy Spelunky I'm afraid we can't be friends

I-it's not like she wanted you to max her Social Link other anything, baka...

I-I'm not the baka, y-you're the baka.. for thinking she was worth wasting my time on.

I'm constantly surprised by the number of people on my list that don't have it, the types of people that buy and play a lot of games, and they refuse to have it. For anyone that buys a lot of digital content, it's totally worth it. Which is a reminder I need to re-up on that year's subscription.

What makes Spelunky great?

When you die 200 times just to make it to the mother ship and die from a jump jet by your own shotgun without firing a bullet and hit-stun-locked. That was a great one.

This does not sound like English.
Then again, I haven't played the game. :lol
Maybe it will make sense after Tuesday.

The story won't make sense until you've spelunk'd for at least a few hours. The turn of events were so rare that I don't think I could repeat them if I tried. One of many deaths you'll encounter that will have you shouting at your computer, or vita in this case.

I tried and failed for about 2 hours last night (spelunky) and just keep thinking I would keep at it more if I didn't have to sit in front of my computer to do so. It doesn't help that my computer is in the addition in my house, which happens to be the toy room. I'm reduced to sitting in a mini chair made for a 4 year old where my monitor sits on top of my tower.

thanks. I'll get Marvel.

The gem system is such a minor point in the game (SFxT) that I wouldn't base any decision on that. They are both extremely solid fighters with good combo systems. It should really come down to which type of characters you like and how fast paced you want the game to be.

Marvel is frantic as all hell. SFxT is slower and drawn out with explosions of actions when you confirm and switch characters mid combo

I do think SFxT is way easier to play and get to a competitive level within the game.

Implying fsteak is a waste of time.

Anyway, for those wondering why I don't have PS+ yet, it's because I barely buy stuff on sale (I'm the sucker that buys stuff at full price). However, with the advent of the PS4, it's inevitable so as I said I'll be getting it once the extra 90 day promotion is up.

Finished downloading Guaccamelee and put a few minutes on it before went back, powing through 1000-pages book. I can feel that I'm gonna love this game.

I had no idea the combo system was as deep as it is. No one ever tells you that.

I feel i was done a disservice by the people that have played the game before me. YOU KNOW YOUR NAMES!

They were merely setting your expectations low so that you could have your mind blown!

Are you guys in the US? In the EU, the 12+3 months offer is live now in the Vita PSN store at least..

I can't see it in the webstore. Is it up on the Vita one?

It's because you forget how deep the combo system is amidst the other amazing qualities to the game.

Seriously though, my favorite game of the type I've played since Dawn of Sorrow.

I've been spouting that since day one.
In fact, I know I've linked people to video of the combo trials quest.
The combat in the game is ridiculously satisfying.

I've pretty much filled my 32 gb card... I don't consider myself to be an overly "hardcore" gamer but here I am, out of space.

I've no problem with deleting and reinstalling games whatsoever... Until I checked out the complete clusterfuck that is the download list. It has, everything, just lumped together? They couldn't have let you create a custom list?

Hat would've been so easy... Tag games that you want to add to your custom list - kind've like a playlist on an iPod.

Anyway, I'll have to come up with something... I don't really want to go physical.

It's on the homepage right side of the web store but when you click on the yearly sub it doesn't actually mention anything about it. When you buy it it'll add the three months automatically. Not the best advertising really.

Goddammit Sony.

I'll get PS+ tomorrow after work.

I did my vita duties this week...

Ran into an old friend at the town fair this week on Wednesday. I hadn't spoken to him for about 10+ years after our "falling out", but anyway...

I spoke to him for a good 10 minutes there and texted him if he still played games. I mentioned I have a vita (duh) and he inquired into how much they were. I told him about the extremely current price drop and the amazing digital sale going on right now.

We're going to the mall Saturday so he can buy a vita.

I'm working on my other bud to get a vita next. I told him in no uncertain terms he needs to get one BEFORE Tuesday

I do this as much as I can too haha. Sony should freaking hire me

Just back them up to a PC or PS3 instead. Faster to get back onto the system that way as well. Can do it all wirelessly these days as well but last time I tried it was really slow.

Okay what are some of the better PSP games that are available?

I was going to pick up MGS Peace Walker but i heard it is focused on co-op???

I was also going to pick up the Castlevania X Chronicles or whatever it was, sounded like it was Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night (never played either of them). Is it worth $15?

I love 2d platformers like Castlevania, Contra, Mega Man, etc.

Last question - Is a 16gb card pretty manageable? I would like to have at least 5-6 games on it at a time.

I do to..... but no one listens :(

My brother did but he is the only one lol.

I would say 16 gig is fine if your willing to back up some stuff now and then. Can easily get 5-6 games at a time on one. on my 32 I have about 22 vita games, 2 psp games, 5 psx games and about 9 psmobile games. Plus about half a gig of music.

Good shout on the pc backup. I always forget about that option... I considered using the ps3 but space on that's a little limited too.

DAMN YOU PS PLUS!

You should be fine. Just keep in mind that bigger Vita games can be 3GB+ sometimes though. If you mix it up with PS1/PSP/PSN games you can fit quite a few games on a 16GB.

Bought LBP Vita yesterday on a whim when I saw the sale price. I'm usually not one for digital if I can get a physical copy, but at €6 something, I can't not buy it. Played the first level yesterday and it looks beautiful.

Decided to rejoin Vita hood after that ps+ bundle went on sale.

Killzone looked like a must buy from my time with the beta.

Muramasa was on sale for $20, so fucking pretty on the oled.

While bunch of free games I have no room for from plus. Shame I missed out on the free zero hour and disgaea games.

Going all digital this time, need a much bigger card.

How do you save games on vita and remove the bubble?

You either need to back the whole thing up to a PC or PS3 first or if you have PS+ you get cloud storage which will save your save files (best option). Then you can delete the game. If you install it again you just hit the bubble and on the splash screen hit the ps+ symbol, select the cloud saves option and download it. Done.

Oh and welcome to the Vita hood. The friendliest thread on GAF.

Anyone ever play DJMax Technika Tune? Ive had the game since it released and no one on my friends list has played it and I don't think Ive ever even heard anyone talk about it.

Anyhow, I like music/rhythm game. This one is cool but hard for me to get use to with the touch screen stuff....

I did a little video. pretty crappy since its a camera video and my hand is all up in the mix.

You'd find that a lot of VitaGAF have either played DJMax or Project Diva. I have both!

Sounds like you have PS+, so you can upload your saves directly from a game's LiveArea page before deleting the bubble. :)

Me, me, me! I just don't play enough of it. I find it too taxing for my tiny brain. It's a really solid rhythm game, though.

lmfao. not enough that you proselytize your kid with this madness.

i don't know if I'd go that far with my kid. I'm not the type of father that tries to force his children to play sports or live vicariously through them. i play a lot of fighting games and he naturally was drawn to it from seeing me play. I might purchase things for him that I like and think he would like but he ultimately makes his own decision.

i prefer him to play games over watch things like spongebob any day.

my OLD friend used to play a ton of PS1 RPGs. Really no reason for him not to have one.

my buddy that comes over a few times a week has almost as many games as I do but only plays a handful of them. i know he would get a ton of mileage from a vita

Can you post some details/screens?

I'm blocked @ work

I’m Al, Senior Producer at Laughing Jackal, and I’m really excited to be here to tell you all about our brand new PS Vita game, Flame Over.
Flame Over is a fast-paced, action-packed fire-fighting roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels and a complex fire simulation that radiates, jumps between objects, consumes fuel and destroys its environment in real time.
The player’s objective is simple: guide a fire-fighter through the 16 floors of Infernal Industries’ skyscraping HQ, exploring your environment, seeking out loot, secrets and power ups and hunting down blazes against the clock.

All levels in Flame Over are fully destructible and feature different themes, many room types, secret items and hidden levels, environmental hazards and tons of lovely loot and power ups. Nom nom nom!
A fire-fighting game needs a legendary hero, so we bring you Blaze Carruthers, London’s foremost fire-fighting hero. The only thing bigger than Blaze’s heart is his luxuriant moustache, and NO fire is gonna singe its tips!
The idea for Flame Over was born during a fire training day last year. I was watching a video about the chemistry of fire and got thinking about how you’d translate the dangers of fire-fighting into an action game. I spoke with a few industry peers and some of the SCEE team about it and right away I knew we were on to something hot!
We’ve created a multi-layered random level generator so the player can never ‘learn’ the best way through each level. Like a real fire-fighter you’ll be walking into the unknown every time! Each level has its own theme, room type, flammable objects, mini missions, secrets and people to rescue.
Blaze will be discovering each level’s layout using his trusty hose, extinguisher and fire axe to track down blazes, hack through doors and walls and rescue imperilled workers and – of COURSE – save cutesy cats. ^_^
With no two play-throughs ever the same, players can also save out their favourite randomly generated levels, set Challenges and share them with their friends and other players worldwide using Near. You’ll also be able to fuel the flame war using more traditional Cash Dash and Time Attack Leaderboards.
Here at LJ Towers we’re all so excited to reveal Flame Over, by far our most ambitious project to date, and we’re thrilled to be working with the awesome guys and gals at Sony to bring the game to PS Vita. It’s really the perfect platform for Flame Over’s fast-paced, bite-sized chunks of action.
Flame Over will be blazing a trail onto PlayStation Vita in Q1 of 2014.
In the meantime, you can follow our progress on Laughing Jackal’s blog at www.laughingjackal.co.uk, via LJ’s twitter feed: @Laughing_Jackal or on our Facebook page. And my own Twitter feed features some more personal insights into the game if that’s your thing: @ev4nac
Thanks for reading. Hope you’re as ‘fired up’ for Flame Over as we are (ouch!)

There are no screenshots yet as its still pre-alpha. I could sneak a quick screenshot out I suppose...

Our latest game was just announced on the PS Blog... for Vita.
