Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

What Vita games are you guys looking forward to the most?

I can't wait to get my get my hands on Spelunky, Luftrausers and Killzone Mercenary. I hope Vlambeer gives us a heads up on the release date of Luftrausers is.
With TWD already shipped, I also pre-ordered Killzone, Rayman Legends and Tearaway. I'm also getting Spelunky this and Kickbeat the week after. Double-dipping on FEZ & Rogue Legacy.

VITABros, i need to know when Rayman Legends will be available digitally? I have enough doughs to get it right now but i heard that it was delayed to 12 September on VITA. In that case, i might just pick something from sale and get Rayman when it is out. Please tell me if it is coming out on PSN next week?
Bumping my post for the new page.

I need to know that if Rayman Legends will launch on PSN on the exact date as Retail or is it delayed? The US launch is on 3rd September so i wanna get it through the digital store.

That feeling when everything clicks and you are able to just do perfectly on a tricky treasure stage.

Feel like I could play Rayman Origins all day today and not even get mad. It's so cheery and upbeat that I can't help but want to keep playing. My normal time of getting frustrated easily doesn't matter because lives are infinite and checkpoints are everywhere.

Might be the best $10 I've ever spent.

Got my Vita and a 16GB memory card yesterday. Used to own one at launch, but I ended up selling it a few months later.

Downloading all my PS+ goodies! Hotline Miami looks stunning on the Vita, much better than the PS3 version.

Desperate for Persona 4, think this is the cheapest site for it - http://www.365games.co.uk/playstation-vita-games/persona-4-golden-game-ps-vita--

Am I correct in saying the NTSC version will work fine on a PAL Vita/account?

Welcome (back) to the club. Vita is regionfree so the NTSC version will work

What are the best current gen ports? Need for spped or lbp any good? Hows wipeout and call of dutys mp

NfS is good, LBP the best in the series. Wipeout is also great, especially if you have both add-ons for it (PS3 ports of HD & Fury, at no cost if you already bought the PS3 version). Avoid CoD and Resistance, the upcoming Killzone seems to be the only worthwhile FPS.

Like michaelius said, Virtua Tennis is an excellent port.

Just wanna point out that the only port on that list is NFS. LBP, Wipeout and Call of Duty are all original games made exclusively for the Vita (though with Wipeout you can import all the tracks from the PS3 version if you own that one).

Had no interest n vita and just ended up buying one... Now I'm kicking myself for not adding vita games to my ps+ download list all these months. Oh well... So far I love my vita, except the start & select buttons.... Whyyyyyyy Sony? Why?

Guys, I'm having trouble understanding how video and music streaming works between the vita and PS3. I'm also wondering if you can use content manager between the vita and PS3 through wi-fi instead of cable? It's annoying having to drag that short cable all the time.

And one last thing, this one might sound silly as I've never tried it out before. If you use content manager through wi-fi on PC, can you do that while your PC is off or does it have to be on?

Just open up Content Manager on your Vita and connect via WiFi to your PC. Then open up the music or video app on your Vita and select your PC. From there you'll see your media files (just make sure that the CMA app settings on your PC point to the correct folders.)

For videos only MP4s will work but I've tested files up to 1080p and they playback smoothly without drops. But if you have a slow or busy network the Vita might take a while to cache the video and the app will just appear to freeze (just give it some time). Also I think the app needs your memory card space to cache videos so you'll need some free space on your memory card.

No need to use a cable unless transferring large games since those take a long time over wifi. And yes, your PC does need to be on for transferring and syncing to work.

Tearaway, Spelunky, Dragon's Crown, Rayman, Minecraft. I have KZM pre ordered too but only because it was cheap.

Does anyone know if we're getting another Jacob Jones installment anytime soon?

Yea I never really played a Rayman game before I came to Gaf. Well thinking on it, I never played them. Bought it during the awesome sale due to the overwhelming praise on here, and I am more than satisfied with the game. It's refreshing playing something like this, so light hearted and fun, when you don't feel like slaughtering hundreds of randumb d00ds.

Oh yeah been wondering about that, when's the next ep. gonna drop? Been months since it was released and IIRC, it was a top seller on EU PSN.

I think the JJ devs said something recently about news coming soon for the next episode - may have been on their Facebook page.

Sorry, can't check/link, on phone atm

Neat looking forward to Ep.2 (Note to self FINISH EP. 1 ALREADY!)

Quick suggestion for PSP game on my vita : killzone liberation (played before on UMD but never finished it), or resistance retribution? I think both are discounts in the Uk at the moment

This is an incredibly stupid question, but it's been a while since I last played, so...

How do I change characters in Persona 4 to direct command in battles?
Just went into the TV to rescue Kanji. I'm screwing around in Yukiko's Castle, but I can't get Yukiko under direct command.

As for my most anticipated, without question, it's Ys. Rayman Legends is close second, I absolutely loved Origins. Got the platinum for both the PS3 and Vita versions. I also really want Final Fantasy X and X-2, but I'm sweatin' those since SE has been so quiet. And I'm looking forward to Dragon Fantasy: Book 2.

When you are in battle, during the Main Character's turn there's "Tactics" option (on the left yellow commands list).
When you are in the dungeon but not in the battle press Square button and there should be an option called "Change battle tactics" or something like that.

Welp, I never noticed it so unless you're super particular about framerate then I think you'll be fine.

Yeah I play the game regularly and the framerate never bothers me. I do notice drops here and there but nothing that detracts from the gameplay itself. It feels fast no matter what.

Go for Killzone Liberation. In my opinion, Resistance Retribution is over way too quickly. I did enjoy both games though.

Another question:
I can hear The Reaper's breathing and chains. I really don't want to fight him. Is there a way to avoid it, besides not opening treasure chests?

I was wondering if anyone could help sway me on Atelier Totori one way or the other.
I've been looking for a longer/deeper Vita game to play since all I've really used it for since beating Persona 4 was short downloadable games and I remembered everyone hyping up Totori when it was on that sale on the American PSN.
I haven't played any of the other games in the series and know nothing about the game apart from what I've read in the reviews I found and they all seemed pretty positive, the only negative things that stuck out to me was that one of them said the time system is harsh and restrictive and that you basically need to follow a walkthrough to get the true ending but I'm not sure if those are exaggerations or not. If the time system is anything like Persona 3 or 4 then I'm okay with that, but the true ending thing is kind of a bummer if that's right.
Thanks, GYNGA.

As soon as you change floors it goes away, but even if you do open the chest with the Reaper inside the game will warn you and give you the option to not open the chest.

Try Sound Shapes (with headphones). You are going to be amazed.

I've played the demo and definitely liked what I played of it. As soon as I get my hands on a bigger memory card I plan on downloading more stuff like this.

I'm rocking Bose earbuds for my Vita so these music games really shine.

There are tons of endings, one for each secondary character + true and bad endings.
Imo a guide helps but it's not necessary, just read what you need for an ending and then do it alone.
Imo what is really necessary is to make all those tools that make you lose less time as soon as possible.

Tons of new Vitacats up in the thread, Welcome guys

The deed is done. My GF has her new PS3. :P

Now I have alot more time for Vita since its primarily my main system right now. Multiplatform gaming is a curse I tell you.

I got enough to play through but they'll always be something else added :P

I do need to grab a 3DS though, but not before I get a new phone... Damn thing has been annoying me. (I want an S3)

Spelunky
Rayman Legends
Killzone: Mercenary
Tearaway
Phantasy Star Online 2 :(
Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Helldivers
Hotline Miami 2
Velocity 2x
1,001 Spikes
Oddworld "New N Tasty"
Stick It to the Man
Dead Nation
FFX & X-2 HD
Disgaea 4

I really want PSO2 but I don't know if I can roll with the language barrier. I remember importing Phantasy Star Universe on PS2 and basically being stuck like an hour in. Judging from the last few pages of this thread, I might be better served spending the money on a year of PS+.

But PSO2...

So what's the deal with "undiscovered places" in Near? I find them and the radar has tons of people popping up as usual. I hope Near continues to evolve....
