Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

What are some of the best VITA PSN games? I saw some that looked interesting like:

Doodle God
Mutan Blobs Attack
Some Ninja Rabbit game?
A-Men

Its hard to judge by the reviews because I honestly don't think I've ever seen a game with less than 4 stars...
Mutant Blobs Attack is a good one.

I don't know how they compare on the BoM, but IPS screens are a good alternative to OLED. Maybe it's a possibility should they ever make a Vita revision.

Not sure if they should change it or even think about it since Sony clearly have issues getting good screens for their devices, Xperia Z series screens are complete and total crap, Sony need to just stay with Samsung leftovers.

They might be good alternative for watching porn on smartphone but for gaming OLED is the ultimate technology right now.

Near 0 refresh time of pixels gives them huge edge when displaying motion.

CLED was supposed to be the superior one (all oled advantages without the disadvantages) but Sony abandoned that technology it seems.

Fucking Red Dinos in Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I HATE THEM. And that stupid arena filled with them never seems to stop spawning them.

And damn them for not putting back in new game + in Sigma.

Mutant Blobs from Space is very good. Better than the original

Mutant Blobs is the only really good one from your list.

There are many worthwhile PSN games, for example:
- Guacamelee
- Hotline Miami
- Limbo
- Machinarium
- MotorStorm RC
- Pixel Junk Monsters Ultimate HD
- Sound Shapes
- Stealth Inc
- Super Stardust Delta
- Thomas Was Alone
- Velocity Ultra

Ive been away since thursday, any good news occur??

Trying to dent p4g.. Bout 20 hrs in- The battles/monsters and dungeons seem pretty boring. I enjoy the writing and sim/relationship building stuff a lot more .. In fact so far - id say this game is overrated. Its good. But im shocked at its meta critic scores

it is overrated :p

This may seem like a dumb question but what do I have to do to make imported games work on the vita sense I have never imported a game before. I want dat one piece.

What Vita games are you guys looking forward to the most?

I can't wait to get my get my hands on Spelunky, Luftrausers and Killzone Mercenary. I hope Vlambeer gives us a heads up on the release date of Luftrausers is.

My list of wants just continues to grow so I would not post a full list, however my top 5 most anticipated games right now would look something like:

1: Borderlands 2
2:Minecraft
3:Helldivers
4:Assault Android Cactus
5: StarBound

StarBound would be much higher but the PC version is taking forever, so the Vita version is probably a good ways away.

Short term: Spelunky and Batman
Long term: Starbound

I'm surprised more people aren't excited about a 2D, Metroidvania Batman from some of the Retro folks.

Nothing. Buy it, play it. :)
You won't have easily access to DLC (Patches are no concern) though.

Some nice stuff on here - I'm not sure I'll get Minecraft, so many hours logged already...

1. Football Manager - FUCK
2. Starbound
3. Spelunky
4. Football Fucking Manager
5. Fucking Football Manager

Just picked up a bunch of Vita games, haven't purchased much on Vita, just been enjoying the PS+ content, but felt like I needed to support the platform a bit.

Picked up:

LittleBigPlanet
Everybody's Golf
Little Deviants
Resistance: Burning Skies
Hotline Miami
Retro City Rampage

I'm also looking at preordering Killzone Mercenary, I'm not sure which preorder pack to go with, Blackjack's Briefcase or ISA LMG? I'm not sure which is a better deal...

I've had to delete the KZ Mercenary beta - I don't want to burn out before launch, but it looks and plays so good. Cant wait

Such hyperbole. The JDI Xperia Z screens were bad, Sharp screens were good. Sony's using Sharp's IGZO with Sony's Trilumious technology on Xperia Z Ultra and it's the best screen on the market so they can easily move away from OLED.

Btw Sony doesn't make mobile screens at all.

O_o Yessss, the Klingons will never know what hit them.

Sitting here staring at the 3G/Wifi PS+ Instant Game Collection bundle from Wal-Mart that came in the mail on Saturday. Still struggling about whether I want to open it or not.

I have an existing PS+ account good through next August, so, don't need that out of the bundle, will probably sell it (for now). Reading this thread definitely starts pushing the pendulum towards opening it though. Decisions...

Picked up Walking Dead off of PSN for Vita. I figured why not?

But what's up with the panel borders during cut scenes? Is that in the console versions? I don't like it. It's jarring and crops stuff off. The Vita screen is already small so I don't get why they'd put that in there.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like it only has those borders in touch mode. But seeing Youtube videos, it looks like the ios version is similar. Please don't tell me the Vita isn't the port of the ios game? :O

Well, if you want something to push you into opening it: You can basically chop $50 off of what you paid because you're going to to have to buy another year next year anyway right? It will just stack with your current subscription.

Vita's a cool system, and PS+ is a really good value and will give you a lot of games to play out of the gate. I say open it up!

If your UK, game is doing both for preorders. Fucking hate game though :o)

Well, it is a good game but indeed overrated. The additional (story) content create inconsistency on some characters, but it is something you only realize if your seriously into story (writing).

Probably since they share a similar architecture.

I'm 100% digital only on PS3 and Vita, which really sucks when 2K decides to set the preorder for €69.99 on PSN here in Ireland. You would think Sony would offer both bonuses, plus even more as an incentive for digital sales. Maybe that's how they keep retail happy, by letting them offer the better preorder deal.

Which would you recommend of the two?

I would go for the gun, I got burnt on the soul sacrifice preorder, never again.

Tried Metal Slug XX out since it's free with PS+ - and man this is a great Metal Slug game. Plays and looks great on Vita and no real slowdown thus far. and unlimited continues.

Anyone know how the other Metal Slug games are on vita? How is Metal Slug 2 or the Metal Slug Anthology? Worth the $20 for all the Metal Slug games?

Craig

I grabbed it on the last sale on impulse. I did enjoy it more than monster hunter just hope that it's more than playable solo. The story should at least help in that regard.
Everything is doable solo. I finished the toughest missions needed for the platinum trophy by myself.

Haha, I'm aware the games you omitted aren't great, but they were on sale, and meh, I liked the resistance games, so I should get at least a little enjoyment out of it...

I actually can't comment on Resistance. I've had it since release, but only played the first mission. It was ok and I'm sure the loathing for it is a little hyperbolic.

Little Deviants I've just never played.

Anthology is a must-have. No question. 100% complete. Avoid the standalone Metal Slug 1 & 2 on the PSN section. I bought them once when I still had an 8GB card and was in need of space... it was 700-ish MB for Anthology vs under a 100MB for both MS1&2. That way I could still get my fix. One level into MS1 and the framerate was an abomination... deleted both of them, requested a refund and redownloaded Anthology immediately. I'm not one to be particular about things, so believe me when I say it was an issue.

I've warmed up to the SNK-Playmore Metal Slug games like 4-6 & XX/7.

Also get Shock Troopers, my man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Fo2Scowqk

Welp, I never noticed it so unless you're super particular about framerate then I think you'll be fine.
being bothered by 22 fps is NOT "super particular"

Yeah I play the game regularly and the framerate never bothers me. I do notice drops here and there but nothing that detracts from the gameplay itself. It feels fast no matter what.

That's the problem; the game is too fast for when the framerate drops. It really fucks me up in-game; high speed and sub-25 fps weren't meant for each-other.

Yeah freamerate drop a lot, and they sacrificed the amount of cars on the streets and lots of other stuff yet the framerate drop to turtle levels inside city or when having race/chase..just awful. and I wish it was the only problem, heavy/slow and unresponsive car handling just kill it for me it's really bad, and it's actually mind boggling since Burnout Paradise got amazing car handling but here..again, just awful.

I cannot get over how good the Killzone multiplayer beta looks. Absolutely nailed the gun play too.

That and Helldivers are my next planned Vita purchases. I was interested in Tearaway, but I've seen too many "gimmicky" gameplay videos to convince me. Too much finger poking, not enough traditional platforming/exploration. I hope someone out there can convince me otherwise.

I completely agree with this. I've been playing Paradise on the PC a lot lately; I think it's handling is perfect. It's not realistic but it's FUN and that's what matters in an open-world racing game where you can do crazy jumps off of things.
