A BBC team inside Syria filming for Panorama has witnessed the aftermath of a fresh horrific incident - an incendiary bomb dropped on to a school playground in the north of the country - which has left scores of children with napalm-like burns over their bodies.

Eyewitnesses describe a fighter jet dropping the device, a low explosion, followed by columns of fire and smoke.

Ian Pannell and cameraman Darren Conway's report contains images viewers may find extremely distressing.

that kid shaking with his arms held out with the skin melted off his body...

I don't want to watch it. Barbaric animals. Who authorises this?

I wish the UN could organise some sort of military presence and protect these kids.

Where is the problem? - It`s terrible but some guys here abuse this kids for her war drums.

None of this kids wants more dead people, they want a diplomatic solution.

Israel used white phosphorus in gaza, attack israel.
A civil war is awful but an attack is no solution.
It is scandalous to misuse these children for his cause.

That word again. I don't think it means what you think it means. Was Hitler a beetle? Was Goebbels a kangaroo? I don't think the nurse reported anything non-human at Stalin's birth and I don't think Kim Jong-un can lick his dick clean either.

It may make you feel uncomfortable but it's definitely human beings who did this, of the same species we belong to. Yes, we're capable of doing this, too. Precisely because we're not animals.

Was it intended or by accident? I don't want to sound like an arsehole but NATO and American forces have accidentally bombed schools and areas full of kids before. However, if this was intended then that's beyond disgusting. Either way, the civil war has claimed far too many kids. This is awful news. :(

Syrian air force jets generally fly high and fast to avoid being shot down, and their bombs are unguided. So basically it's indiscriminate. Even moreso when they use the incendiary cluster munitions that they're so fond of dropping on residential areas. They even have delayed burst charges in them so if anyone gets close and tries to extinguish it it explodes and blasts out burning thermite.

Incendiary munitions have been used since 2012.

Nope, not watching it.

this kind of stuff is heart wrenching - what do we, as the western world, do? If we go over dropping our own bombs, for certain more innocent people will die. If we don't, this savagery continues.

The west should really get together and make its mind up. Are we the world police? Should we be? And history shows, we've done much much worse ourselves, although not necesarily to our own people.

Half of me wants to bomb the shit out of them, the other half wishes the west would just get out of there wholesale and leave them to it. All societies are not created equal, and the west's involvement in that whole geographical area is just an endless quagmire.

My god, I mean seriously, I have nothing.

Edit: Couldn't watch the video more than like,10 secs. As soon as I saw those black legs under that blanket,i was done.

None of that makes actual fucking sense, why a school? Are you people really buying into this, imo all of that look fake as hell. So they drop a bomb on the school, and that's it...............what's the point? Man people go for anything, if this is in fact real, which I question, how do we know Syria did it and not the rebels?

I doubt anybody explicitly targeted a playground, but bombs striking targets that weren't what you thought they were (or simply straying off course from the real target) is not exactly a new thing in war.

Really?

The political worldview of some here is disastrous. Israel used white phosphorus, the area around basra is uranium contaminated for centuries

There is no good or evil, it's all about power politics. All nations are the same bastards, no one is better or worse.

What the fuck ...

This is terrible, holy shit this needs to stop.

....and this happened before the vote, yet Milliband still instructed whips to make Labour MPs vote against any action.

What in the actual fuck Labour? Still, at least you and your supporters can celebrate making Michael Gove apoplectic with rage yesterday. That's the most important thing right?

You have a rather myopic view of the word:

an·i·mal

noun /ˈanəməl/
animals, plural

<snip>

A person whose behavior is regarded as devoid of human attributes or civilizing influences, esp. someone who is very cruel, violent, or repulsive

I know you're making a point, but the platform of choice was a terrible one.

Pretty sure it was intended as an insult. Look up that word.

Your pretentious blathering post that insultingly implies he used it to dehumanize someone is just pathetic.

You have that backwards. It is because we are animals that we can do this.

Just because it is ubiquitous doesn't mean we should excuse it. Ever.

Since when are humans not animals?

The most important thing is that we do not ADD to the misery. There is nothing we can do about Syria. We don't have a magic weapon that can stop both sides from indiscriminately killing each other (yes both sides are barbaric fuckers).

I would be all for going in there guns blazing and flags waving if I thought it would do any bloody good, but it doesn't. What is happening in Syria is horrific, I wish it wasn't happening but I know there is nothing we can do about it.

Watched the footage on the BBC last night, pretty horrific to see young kids with nearly all their skin melted away. What made it worse was that the hospital in the footage clearly couldn't cope and resorted to putting people on the floor...

Terrible footage. Normally I'd recommend against watching it, but I do think it's one to watch to help grasp just how bad the situation is in the less reported Northern Syria.

People act as if this is any break to a norm of country at war. Read some more. Or listen to Dan Carlin podcasts at least. Or ken burns docs.

Dat hypocrisy runs deep, yo.

The US has done as much atrocities as this in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Is it real?

Are you serious?

That's pretty bad, but like some people said. If this was an accident then is an horrible reminder of war but if this was intentional then that just breaks my heart.

Assad will do worse. His already moving prisoners into military bases so they take US missiles while moving his soldiers into schools and universities.

Assad forces have put missile artillery on roofs of residential buildings

That way plenty civilians can get killed from US strikes and Assad will use them as a propaganda.

Yeah I mean the rebels magically now have fighter jets lol

If you dont know where you're aiming, you shouldn't be firing. Especially in the vicinity of schools.

Good point, because no bomb has ever hit anything but the intended target. I'm sure the airplanes and bombs used by the Syrian regime are far more advanced and accurate than the drones and smartbombs used by the US. Brilliant conspiracy theory, I really think you're on to something here, it's probably both "fake as hell" AND a rebel false flag operation carried out by their airforce consisting of kites.

So because Israel has done something similar somehow makes this a non-issue? If you really don't see the problem with incendiary bombing a playground then I don't know what to tell you. And by the way, bombing a playground might be politics to you, but that doesn't mean it can't also be evil.

Where you there?

"Were", not "where".

Also, unless I'm mistaken the Syrian rebels do not have aircraft with which to launch airstrikes.

If you dont know where you're aiming, you shouldn't be firing. Especially in the vicinity of schools.

Right, but this is a problem with essentially every airforce engaging in bombings. It's terrible but it happens. Aspirin factories getting hit, schools getting hit, houses getting hit.

I'll help you here since you're having trouble understanding my response.

"Jet drops incendiary bomb on playground full of kids"

I'm sorry but dropping bombs on children is fucking evil by any worthwhile moral standard, it concerns me that you don't think so.
