I picked this up for FF14. It's definitely saving my hands, compared to using a xbox controller, and its pretty useful. I would say the two biggest negatives is the joystick takes some extra time to get used to and the buttons aren't arranged in the most convenient way.

Thanks for the response & feedback. Am looking at that one or the Razer brand one. Though the other looks a bit smaller than the logitech model, though is about 30$ cheaper here in Japan. Its too bad wasnt in the US as the price would be about the same for the two.

I'm playing Bard right now and the MP regen is really helpful for my Healer/SMN buddies. I've noticed the regen on it is fantastic so I'm pretty okay with taking a hit to my damage. Also, you are a ranged DD, so you can easily get out of range for some stuff. And Silence is really really great.

Bard is super fun!

It's impossible to play on Ultros. Just tried to log in for 2 hours (woke up earlier before work) and I live in germany so you guys would go to sleep but nothing... nothing. First days were easy to get in, but now it's just not possible. I give up. :-(

Alright, it's 12am on the west coast and people have work/school tomorrow, log off suckers! I want on! (Not you, GAFfers, I mean all the other suckers out there :p)
 
To all you guys reaching max level already, were you playing as legacy charactes or started fresh? I see way too many posts talking about endgame dungeons and level 50 job quests etc.
If progress can be made that quick from 1 to 50 in a matter of days (with server problems), it can be a bit troublesome for the lifespan of this game.

Word on the street is, if you are a maniac its possible to get to 50 within 3 days. But thats playing as someone who knows what they are doing of course. A lot of these games there are always folks who scramble to the top just because. Wouldnt put it in the same category as the average player. But this game does indeed make it easier to level than a lot of other titles out there.

That is just confusing. So they just took a couple of servers from JP and turned them into EU servers? Also strange since I'm on Shiva from the Early Access and I have always seen German/French/Dutch/... but never Japanese.
 
Is it possible for me and my friend to start a 2 man party (tank and healer) then use the duty finder to to fill the other 2 dps spots ?

Hahaha. That kind of stuff is frowned upon in MMOs, and it can get you banned. Especially so because it was pretty bad in FFXI and people are watching for botters. (didn't stop people from doing it even to this day though) I have no idea how fishing works in FFXIV, however.

Hmm, I hit 50 DRG within a few days and hit 45 as a WHM last night before I was DC'd and went to bed. I'm leveling on Tonberry (JP) as I'm Australian though, so I haven't suffered as many server outages as NA.

I can't really say that leveling is too quick, as according to XIVpad I'm only 9% through to a "completed character" and I have been going pretty hard at it. DoH classes are going to take a very, very long time though.

Endgame dungeons are interesting and have some pretty fun mechanics. Apparently it also takes roughly 26 hours to get a full set of the Darklight gear from dungeon tokens.

Now that I think about it, I'm probably the worst example to use as a measurement for the "lifespan" of the game. Some people are only just hitting 50 on their first class.
 
I had fun in the first 2 dungeons. They are.... pleasing. I guess. i don't really know whow to explain it. Lots of MMO's have instances, of course, but a lot of them look very rigid and feel kind of like you are walking from box to box. FFXIV has the same feel as a well made WoW dungeon. Feels very organic.

Am sure the numbers might potentially be higher now that launch is active and seeing all the problems the JP servers are having now too. Ive seen the same thing also and it seems to be legit according to my friend.

I think its more the fact that you need to take into consideration how many people potentially click the "Join Party In Progress" or whatever box before starting the DF.

Since thats how you get 1ups to fill up spaces of members who turned tail & ran or dropped for whatever reason.
 
How the fucking hell am I supposed to do the Heretics Among Us story quest? No matter what I do I always fail to some sort of stupid shit. The npcs can't tank worth a damn, the healer npc only heals me when I'm at 10%, and even if I do kill the main enemy without dieing because the healer actually healed before I died, then the adds still kill the npcs and cause a failure. As DRG I have no cc, and this quest has just been pure grade-a bullshit so far.
