Today was an okay day. Unlocked Scholar and Summoner, ran through Hakke Manor as a Scholar (too bad the tank had absolutely no intention of even trying to tank more than one target at a time).

Overall, lots of fun, even if I wasn't able to push past the errors and log in until late afternoon.

Any tips for the last boss on Brayfox's Longstop? We wiped a few times and only have 15 minutes left. I'm also running out of mana while healing.

Our tank seems to be out of the rectangle but still gets hit.

oh game, why you look so good

Wow... that's freaking stunning...

Do they still have plans to implement Direct X 11 features for PC users? I can only imagine what it would look like then!

Are you wiping on the final boss? (edit: sorry somehow missed the part where you said it was the last boss)
Just make sure the tank keeps him out of the poison pools, and it shouldn't be too hard.

I think FATEs should have a base difficulty that increases when the number of people increases over X.

I think they actually might. The other day I was doing the FATE in southern thanalan where you have to protect the immortal flame soldier guy as he walks to ala mhigo. By some miracle I was the only person in the fate the entire time, and each wave consisted of 2 or 3 enemies. I don't know if they dynamically change, or make some calculation based on the the size of the nearby player pop., but I've definitely seen that same FATE with tons of Amalj'aa in it.

Even with a ton of players its basically 2-3 from the front, then closer to town its around 3 front / back on 2 separate stops. Its not that many really.

they may increase the number of mobs, but I don't think they're any harder to kill. It just becomes a war of attrition.

He kept hitting our tank for 80% damage. I'm not sure if he was undergeared or what. Group ended up disbanding. =\

This game really is perfection. And I can't wait for the breath/diversity of new content :D houses, pvp content, more high level primals, more classes, gold saucer, etc etc

He was getting hit by the big move. Sometimes it's latency, but that will not lead to victory. When there's no adds, they often make sure the avoidable stuff hits extra hard or even one-shot like a certain earthy guy.

I went to see the odin fate today on gilgamesh..

The weather in the zone when he spawns is just awesome..

They got him to 1% but he used zantetsuken and everyone died.. hundreds dead.. including me.. was totally worth the trip.

80%!? Sounds like the tank maybe was undergeared. How much health did he have? I had about 2000~2100 when I was doing it I think.

Apparently the DX11 upgrade and PS4 version are the same thing and both should be coming early next year.

I figured. He kept saying he was outside of the box, but it looked like he was in. Could have been lag. Hopefully next tank can do it. :o

So I played back in 1.0 and I grew really fond of Limsa Lominsa. When I do manage to get a copy of ARR I was thinking of going arcanist just for the sake of ending up there first. I want to play conjurer with the purpose of going white mage so at some point so I'll eventually have to get arcanist to 15 anyways. Is it worth it to play the class I don't particularly want to play first or is there an easy way to get to Limsa Lominsa from Gridania?

I think he had about 1400. That explains why I was burning through so much mana trying to heal him.

The tank makes all the difference in that fight. If you get one that knows how to position him properly and keep him out of the poison pools, it will be a cakewalk with everyone doing their job.

Is there...any way to dodge that?

Nope.

It says FATE FAILED and then he hits everyone for 99999 and they die.

Only way to survive is to not be in the FATE

...after two hours of trying to get into a server it through me in a Queue...wtf?? Since when did we get Queues? And why didn't I get one before?!?! I AM SO CONFUSED.

Uh...so. I just logged in, I havent had the chance to play until now. Went to start and it dumped me into a character screen that has no HUD or character, all I could do is turn the camera and back out. Huh? Anybody encounter this?

EDIT: Nvm I guess. It eventually loaded to tell me that Ultros is full.

Just wait awhile and it'll pop.

While it's not the easiest way, you can walk to any of the three cities.

Are there mobs that aggro along the way? I'm leaning more towards getting arcanist out of the way if it'll be too much of a problem. I guess it also depends on when I get the game and who I'll be playing with. Really wish they had kept the ability to pick your starting town but I understand why they changed it.

Hey, if you guys want to make someone's life a living hell, feel free to lay into Xzeal Rivera. He was shouting story spoilers in multiple zones. I know it's a MMO, but I kind of care about that stuff. Stupid kids.

Your group disbanded, but for next time the tips are to make sure the tank doesn't eat the poison breaths (they are avoidable and do a lot of damage) and don't waste your mana on Esuna unless the tank or another member is at 3 stacks of poison.

am i the only one who does a dungeon at least 3 times before moving on? i never had any shortage of quests that way.

I do a dungeon until I've got everything I want from it, which is why I'm level 40 on my White Mage and still have to do the dungeons after Brayflox.

You may as well just follow story quests up to level 15 in Limsa as you'll get airship access and can freely travel between the main cities.

Well whereever you start is where you are probably going to be for awhile. it's pretty dangerous to travel all the way there without a Chocobo, and the storyline quests send you to all the towns via airship around lvl 15? if you keep doing them. But the Shroud area is pretty cool too if you like CNJ, that's where I started in 1.0 since ACN wasn't around.

Yes, there are aggro mobs, BUT with Sprint you can just keep running!

I personally have found aggro much easier to avoid than say, FFXI.

Thanks! Hopefully our next tank can handle it a bit better. :P

I managed to complete my only goal this weekend, to get my chocobo, so I'm happy. I've really been enjoying the story quests so far, to the point where I started skipping out on a lot of other quests to continue it. I guess I'll have to go back and grab the ones I missed when I level up another class.

I do have one question about enemy special attacks. If you are in the attack area and use an ability that doesn't complete until after the enemy uses its special attack, does it hit you even if you are not in range anymore? I've gotten hit a few times by attacks when I know I made it out in plenty of time. I assumed it was lag, but someone mentioned you will get hit if you haven't completed the animation yet and I just wanted to confirm.

Lvl 50 done. SCH and SUM all pre AF up. Just the last bit of the story quest then it's go time for instances and HM action. Super stoked!

From my experience, if the enemy finished the cast/ability and you're still in the affected area, you'll suffer damage. Sometimes the attack doesn't connect until a second or so afterwards.

lol it was insane running like half a mile away from a too strong enemy, only to have it clothesline you from behind, out of nowhere.

It was easy to exploit enemy pathfinding to escape, unless you were in a desert or something, or extra squishy.

I'd use mob tenacity for my amusement, like casting on a mob on the ground floor of Oztoja from up high and watching the fallout.

same. i don't expect 100% completion, but i try to get as many items as possible. makes solo quests even easier. i could have been level 50 days ago, but it would've been time wasted, cause fate farming is so boring. exp in dungeons is not so bad.

I'm really regretting logging out last time I played, but being AFK for almost two days (worked 17 hours yesterday alone) would have been way too mean.

Our tank seems to be out of the rectangle but still gets hit.

He might be.

The ground effects that show where the attack will hit are screwy as hell. In GW2 or WoW if you get out of the area before the red disappears you don't get hit...end of story. In this game you may or may not get it, it's different for each attack, and the ground marker only shows you where it's going to hit, not when. I can't tell you how many times I've been nailed by attacks long after I've moved out of the warning effects in this game, and it's not lag because everything else has no delay. There is really no rhyme or reason to it either, some attacks you have be out almost as soon as the warning shows up, others you can stand in right until they are about to disappear.
