Nah.. its not really a big deal but I'm glad that Sega is putting effort into the port that I was supposed to have in my hands next month.

unless the aa has been changed since the last round of shots, it obliterates some texture detail along with the jaggies. i don't really care for it. it'd be great if sega patched the ai in the ps3 version, but i doubt the ps3 version is even patchable. i vaguely remember a report to that effect before its release.

It's not a big deal, it's just to cool that it's better, that's all.

Being a fan of a game and knowing about it are two different things. I'm a huge fan of Tekken, but hell if I know the vast inner workings of it. Milky may be a fan of VF, but I'm not disputing that. Who am I to say what being a fan constitutes? But he doesn't know the game, I think it's pretty obvious from the way he talks about the game.

Wow, let's take things to the extreme.

"Hey look, that guy does some cool art" other dude "pff he ain't got shit on Da vinci, he is ok at best"-

Nice call out. How is pointing out bs crying? It was only rumored that the X360 version is based on Version C.

As for imporoved AI, again, does it use new arcade data (as in ghosts of other users)? It's not something done because of system power, but because of new data that was available.

I will see it for myself, and then I will judge it.

Yes, they've had host/server problems since SBO because Myke (the site owner) went to SBO and the site went down while he was in Japan. Things have been fixed so you can access the site via IP address only (I forget atm but if you go to #vfhome on EFnet it's there). The domain should resolve soon enough though.

Latest VF5 update in the arcades.... for replay matches, you can now choose to show off your promotion intro before the match starts. Previously these promo intros were only shown on VF.tv as well as the character select screen (without text, just the character + background), but now they've made it possible to tack it onto the replay matches.

Just.... don't expect this to be a standard feature for the 360 version. :)

Saw Tokido and Ino play this weekend at Evo. Not sure who took it. I auto qualified to the semi's, but got peaced out pretty early. I need more practice, but learned a lot. :lol

edit:

official results (i think)

1st. Itazan
2nd. Nuki
3rd. Otome
4th. Tokido
5th. Ino, Myke
7th. Renzo, Sean Howard

Itazan's Shun was sick.

bumpin this... just got the game for free this past weekend at toys r us with the buy 2 get 1 free deal I figured I'll take advantage of it, and try to get good at the game. I've never truly got into a fighter, any tips? So far I've been using el blaze, learned a decent amount of his combos, but I dunno how to put it all together, like I said I'm lousy at fighting games, I just barely get by in arcade mode it usually takes me 4 or 5 tries to get past akira, and I can't even touch the bonus stage. I really could use some motivation i always give up on fighters, and usually get annoyed, so any good websites? Any tier lists? Any suggestions, techniques? exploits, such as wave dashing or l cancelling in super smash?

Go to mycheats.com and look at the VF5 guide.

If you need specific combo tips with el blaze let me know.

thanks... what's your strategy with him? Just how good are you?

Don't play the arcade mode, the CPU is overpowered. Play Quest and find opponents of low ranking to practice on.

really? I can beat it just fine, it's just I get stuck sometimes.

go vfdc or VF.com

I have only been playing for 6 months now

My suggestion.

1. learn all of el blazes moves, but mostly learn which attacks are low,mid and high
2. learn to evade
3. learn to block low, middle, high attacks.
4. learn to recover from falling down by pressing p+k+g when your about to fall down, you
can also add a directional input.
5. learn to get up in different directions when your down, by pressing guard and pressing the
direction you want to get up
6. learn when to counter attack and throw
7. learn his combos, i suggest you go to vfdc to find all his combos and practice them in the
dojo mode

8. learn the difference between counter attack combos and normal attack combos.

9. learn throw evades by both ducking and entering throw escape command

the above applies to every character, except some have reversals, which el blaze doesnt

I don't use El Blaze, but from what I've seen, FF+K into his run + throw is strong. Shadow Hammer is his main combo starter. He has a very fast punch and a lot of really strong strings.

This is a really good El Blaze, you can see his potential :)

Combo at 2:22 is good, practice it.
Combo at the beginning of round 5 is also excellent.

Also do all the stuff that the previous guy said.

jeez that's so much to learn... all kind of overhwelming. that's what usually happens with fighting games, how long did it take you to get the hang of it?

Virtua Fighter does take a lot of time to get really 'good' at. But it's very rewarding.

I'd suggest taking things step by step, and focusing on beating the computer before trying to do difficult techniques. Find the moves that either knock your opponent in the air, or cause them to crumple onto the ground. Then find the combos that follow those moves and practice them. Also practice evading consistently.

It's overwhelming but once you get into a groove, it's fun.

I've got one or two moves that knocks em up and a quick combo to follow as el blaze, also i can hit em while they're down right after, but the problem is pulling off the launch move which is near immpossible once someone is blocking. Also evading feels kinda iffy, almost unresponsive I'll tap it, but they'll just crouch or not move at all really.

evade is very important to master - its a basic move that's simple once you get it.

once you master it, you can easily throw your opponent, which is very rewarding.

it took me a while to get it.

you simply tap up or down when an opponent is about to attack you

keep in mind that you don't push down or up and then hold it.

you need to quickly push down or up and release it quickly.

if you hold it too long, you will simply move slowly up or crouch.

try practicing it at the beginning of each round if you know the opponent is gonna attack immediately, the CPU will in higher difficulties

The game takes a lot of practice but it is really fun because the gameplay is so deep.

hope you enjoy it and stick with it

I've never played a VF game before (shut up) but the more I play of the demo the more I like it. I can see myself picking this up. The only two fighting series I ever got into were Street Fighter and Soul Calibur (and I only have SSFIIT out of the former series). I need something new. I meant to pick up VF4:Evo when I finally got a PS2, but never got around to it.

MUST HAVE PS3 -> 360 CONTROLLER ADAPTOR

Got the game today. I haven't played this series for many, many years. I only went through arcade mode once on normal and played 1 player match online. It's a lot of fun so far, my only complaint is on normal mode the cpu basically just stands there. Player matches also do not let you do rematches afterwards, just kicks you back to the search menu.

Oh, and apparently there's no option to rematch on either ranked or player matches at all.

There is for player match, but you have to make a private room and invite someone. It is the games way of making sure that you don't trap a player there who you don't know and doesn't want to be there. Not a bad method if you ask me (you found them randomly anyway, so you SHOULD make a room and invite them if they whooped you and you want another chance).

They've done it to stop rank abuse. So you just don't sit there with a friend and rank up on him. Anyway seems DubC got there first :)

Enjoy!

Yeah it was pretty humiliating in DOA4 when an SS would constantly rematch you with no way to decline, but there's a simple solution to that. In SFIII3S on Xbox, both players have to agree to a rematch. That works.

I'm glad the option is there for unranked matches.

Man this sucks..at least they should give you the option for both players to agree on ranked matches :(

any word yet on the "lobby" system???is there even one? please tell me its set up like
DOA4 where people can watch others play while they wait.

Then two friends would STILL rank up forever. No need for rematch on ranked, only on unranked. Make people work to abuse the ranking system.

I got mine modded from srk.com to both work for 360 and to have a headset. People generally charge 50 (I got mine for free).
what is the page in which people are modding, is anyone there from Texas?

So Im bringing this back up, good reason for it too (I think)

Im gonna get the game for 360, superior version and all that, but I really dont want to buy the arcade stick because I want to use my PS3 for fighting games mostly (got the Street Fighter Collections, KOF compilations and all that)

So, whats a good solution for the stick? Get the PS3 high Grade one and get a 360 controller adaptor? Find a stick that works with both?

I was wondering, I haven't really played the series much since the original VF on 32x, does anyone have any suggestions about characters suitable for beginners? I used Kage back then.
