PSA: The Vita version of Rayman Legends is missing content from the other versions

Man, I really want to buy this game, but the silence from ubisoft about this problem is making it worse for me.

I don't want to support a company who is apparently trying to rip me off. Ubisoft needs to be clear about if they want me to buy this game full price and they better offer the missing levels as an free update.

The more time that passes the more I think they won't say anything. That or they'll come up with a bullshit excuse and then we'll never hear of it again. I think I've come to terms with me buying this on the PS3.

Even more interesting, on this tweet (not including mine at the bottom), there were several more requests asking about the missing levels on the Vita version. These tweets no longer show up. I don't know Twitter very well, but I know I saw them earlier this morning.

Are they even purposely ignoring Twitter feeds and deleting negative comments (is this possible on Twitter)?

Hopefully they follow through with adding the levels (even as DLC), after the shifty silence...

Here's hoping the follow through and comment, too!

Thankfully Amazon.ca had still not sent it to me yet so I still had the time to successfully cancel it.

Waiting for either a statement from Ubi, or the mysteriously delayed European release, to confirm on whether we'll get it or not in a future update. I would've preferred portable but if this "Invasion mode" is really fun I'll go Wii U instead.

I heard that the PS3 demo includes an Invasion level. Did they release a new demo for the Wii U that has one?

looks like they're deleting tweets

Only if a new Rayman is on the cards at that point for Vita ... Origins is a much more obvious Playstation Plus packin in the light of Legends coming out for Vita, don't you think? Just like Borderlands become Playstation Plus not long before Borderlands 2's release.

So life not necessarily easier.

They gave us Rayman: Origins on Plus ages ago here in Europe. Way before it was even pushed back for the Wii U and announced for all other platforms .....

But I do understand your point and you're right, but for us in Europe it doesn't stand this time.

Ubisoft Official Statement:

Thanks so much for you passion about this game. I'm currently playing the Vita version and loving it. That said, I know some of you have questions about the Vita version, so here's what's going on: Due to a longer development time than expected, we couldn’t initially include the Invasion Mode – essentially, a second take on existing Rayman Legends maps -- in the Vita version of the game. However, we can confirm that the Invasion Mode will be added via a free patch, at a later date. With more than 100 levels, online Coop and challenges, Kung-Foot mini-game, 5 exclusive touch challenges developed specifically for the VITA and 2 exclusive costumes, Rayman Legends already includes a lot for customers to love, and features the same outstanding graphics and gameplay design as the home console versions.

Good. Better than expected. Man just SAY IT if that was the situation. People will understand.

Ok, much much better!!!

So should't the title be changed now? Also, really glad they addressed the issue.

Edit: well, there's a new thread, so I guess not.

Great news. I already opted to buy the game on PS3, but this is great for Vita buyers.

Side question: how are the touch and tilt controls handled on PS3? I have the Vita version, and I hate the hell out of those segments.

You control is like a normal level, but you can press circle to make Murphy do his actions, or you can use L1 and R1 to rotate things when needed.

Personally I think it's much better than touch and gyro.

I really hope people now consider picking the Vita version up. If you liked Origins on the Vita, you will no doubt like this game as well.

My guess as to the reason for the silence...

They were checking out the very early initial numbers and getting a rough estimate for how many people were playing the Vita version (could have looked at digital downloads plus how many unique users were visiting their servers and had a rough idea), factored in how many people may indeed purchase the game in the near future (which was not that many if they read gaming websites and found out about the missing levels) and they figured out just how much they stood to make and/or lose by releasing those levels as paid DLC. As such, they decided the continued outrage of the community was not worth the money they stood to make off the Vita version, which I have to imagine was not a huge number to begin with.

I wish they'd allow that style for Vita. Tilting and touching suuuucks.

How do you power up the lums on PS3, though?

There's really no reason not to offer both options on Wii U and Vita.

And on PS3 the lums are just regular "the first lum is purple, do them in order" rows of lums.

i don't get what you have to go full conspiracy on this , i believe the official statement , the vita version was announce late probably because they were not sure if they could release it in the same time window, they tried to put all the content but didn't manage it in time , it all checks out.
they have business people who also know it is damaging for the rayman brand to not include it, they probably decided that better to release the version in the same timeline to have the ads for all plateform than missing the windows because they didn't have time to add theses in the game.

not everyone is out to get you, plus ubisoft is one of the only supporting vita with big titles right now ...

Conspiracy theory? I thought it was just called running a business. Which the last time I checked that is what they do. And running a business is about making money.
I guess you missed my earlier post where I gave them credit for even releasing the game on the Vita as right there that is a risk?
And why on earth would I think they could possibly do something like this considering they released a statement right away when asked about it? Oh yeah that's right, because they did not release a statement right away. Which leads me to believe they were considering their options. Which is what led me to my speculation.
I did not say it was fact. However it does make sense to me from a business standpoint.
Hardly a conspiracy theory, but hey if it makes you sleep better at night, call it that.

Happy to see at least it's coming and it will be free so I can keep my pre-order

and happy to see my theory was correct :p

If that was the case, they needed to announce it ahead of time. You don't leave out content to be put in later and remain silent on it in the hopes that no one notices. This is the internet age. Reviewers, other gamers, etc they WILL find out.

You get out in front of the negative press and let people know that they will be receiving the missing content free at a later date before the reviews start rolling in. You let Vita owners know that they're not getting shafted outside of just having late content which is better than missing content.

I don't necessarily believe the "waiting to see if they could get away with paid DLC" part, but I absolutely think something was amiss because you don't wait till reviewers and other gamers bash your Vita version for lacking content and THEN come out and say, "wait guys, I swear we planned on giving you the content later, we just thought we would see if anyone complained first."

ok they are patching it back in. That's good. Now the game gets back on my to buy list.

Too bad they didn't give any sort of time-frame. A patch like that can take quite a while. I'm not sure I want to play the game now and then come back a few weeks later to just play invasion levels. Still very happy that they are doing this.

I can't help but think its the reason they delayed in Europe. It's the only reason I can see for delay. So hopefully they are wanting to have it out by then. That doesn't explain the lack of a delay in NA, but still.

EU/UK retailers have the game in stock and are starting to send out now, so unless the patch is due imminently, I doubt it was the reason for the delay.

Well, I mean, I figured they delayed it so they had enough time to finish the patch and get it out for release on the 12th.

reading what others are writing in here, what in the world makes the vita version the "definitive" one?

Has all the content plus 5 exclusive Murfy levels, and you can take it with you anywhere. The dpad on Vita is one of the best ever, and the OLED screen is PERFECT for the colorful art style.

It's not universally "definitive". It's the "definitive" one for me and many others who aren't too interested in co-op. Wii U version would be "definitive" if you're really interested in co-op AND you like the Murfy touch stuff, and any of the other consoles if you like co-op and you DON'T like the Murfy touch stuff. Basically, it just depends on what you want. But yeah, Vita does technically have the most content, and it's portable.

You have the Murphy coop touch stuff too on PS Vita plus an exclusive Prince Of Persia Ray Man costume and Splinter Cell Globox costume. Rayman legends is definately the DEFINITIVE version to get:
