cortland_andrus said:Wii Fit will outsell Halo 3.
Halo 3 will get 90% of its total sales this season.
It'll sell more than Halo 1, and less the Halo 2. It'll sell about 5 million in my opinion.

AstroLad said:Hmmm, WRONG. How many people above the age of 30 can you name that bought SMB3 primarily for their selves? I can name at least a dozen for Halo 3.

That pinnacle is Super Mario Bros. 3, which sold an outlandish 18 million copies upon release in 1990. Despite pushes from games such as Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, and others, nobody has been able to knock SMB3 from its pedestal.
~5 million on the N64, yes, but 6 million on the Gamecube. Which is all the more reason not to downplay it.djtiesto said:I'm still shocked how many people are downplaying SSBB, look at the facts:
-It's the sequel to a game that sold ~5 million on an underperforming platform. The Wii is on track to leave Cube (and N64) in the dust
-Comes out a bit more over a year
-Online play for the first time in the series
-Has a fanbase in all 3 major markets, not just the US
-Third-party characters introduced for the first time in the series
WiiFit may eventually sell more, but SSBB will be the best selling "core" game this gen.
mr stroke said:So it might not pass SMB3, but does anyone know if Halo 3 has a chance at becoming the highest selling game in the US?? I would asume that the majority of sales from Halo are in the US and Europe with asia countries not even making a mark...so Halo vs SMB in the US who wins?

But there's never been an entertainment release like Halo 3.
It's not going to happen initially - there's only 10 million Xbox 360s sold worldwide. But it's pretty obvious that most people will start buying 360s now that it has a definitive killer app - and they'll be likely bringing Halo 3 along with it. Since Halo 3 will likely never be packed in with the 360 (due to its M rating), it's only going to find itself sold seperately. Based upon that, in 2-3 years, we could see Halo 3 take to the top of the list.
So what do you think?
