Well, New Avengers is all about the multiverse collapsing, hence the incursions. From what the Black Swan character has said, this has been going on for some time in other dimensions. Perhaps the LT being dead ties into everything. Also, I don't really think that it's a coincidence that Thanos is showing up, basically being an avatar of death and all.

Not gonna be able to make it this weekend, but definitely going to the Expo next weekend. I have so much stuff for Mahnke to sign, it's gonna be hard to whittle it down to a few things.

It's hard to say how much cash to bring, just depends on what you want. Comics and tpbs will probably be fairly cheap, but sketches can be fairly expensive. For example I know Chris Burnham will be charging like $60 for b&w head shots and $120 for full body.

Yeah I'm thinking issues 0 and 20 of the N52 and then my GL Blackest Night and War of the Green Lanterns trades. Otherwise I'd be the annoying guy with the giant stack of floppies. And yes I have Johns entire preN52 GL run in floppy and trade, once vol 3 is out of his N52 run I'll double dip on those as well.
 
Man, Simone's Ventriloquist is really dark.

What Kindt did with Deadshot was pretty solid though.

I like the Villains Month concept so far, even if they aren't all hits. Nice to see different teams mix it up.

Yeah, that panel popped for me too. He does amazing shit with just some blobs with lines coming out of them. How the fuck does that work? Dude is amazing. There is also one panel of young iceman reaching out and yelling, just amazing use of a single line to suggest shadowing on his arms.

I thought that with Emma being around, that we HAD moved on.

Even with the time-displaced team, at least there were signs that Teen Jean was dropping Teen Scott.

But alas...

Man, it would have been nice if upon her return OG Jean and Scott could be friends without all the bullshit...

I'm not quite sure that this is the case, as their is contradicting evidence. Later on (when it became clear how much Batman was retooled despite initial claimes) the ZERO issues and several flashbacks contradict too much of this. Spoiler for NW0, TT0 and a few of the Batman Series 0 issues follow:

We see that Dick lost his parents at age 16, Tim is using a faked I.D. and his parents are placed in a witness protection program acording to his origin and he seems to be around 16 at this point too. Which would most likely place him at around with Jason we don't have enough evidence to put a age on him.

Regarding the Famliy Status: Nightwing 0 explicitly shows Dick in the youth home, and has Bruce broker a deal to have him help out at Wayne Manor/Industries to get him under his wing. And he is close to 17 as he creates his first Robin outfit and sorties for the first time to save bruce. Other information puts him in the Robin suit for close to one year, maybe a bit more.

And than there is Batman Inc. - Bruce told everyone that he funded Batman and expanded it to Batman Inc. - So at least the ID of Bruce is save. He gave a young man a coverjob while in realtiy he was one of the Batman Inc. agents. No need to get the close family relation etc. going. That their are close ties behind the scenes is another thing and does not concern the public identities of the involved. The boys are family, but not in the literal sense they were since the Zero Hour Reboot up to the New52.

tbh I thought it was settled, which is what made NXM so sad. Scott had moved on to Emma leaving Logan with Jean. And then Jean goes and karks it before Logan can get his feet under the table. I think that old-scott's reaction to young Jean is understandable, you would be floored if the love of your teenaged life turned up as a teen again too.

No idea what Wolvie's gonna do now though. Should be interesting.
 
If there was never another Scott/Jean/Wolverine love triangle I would be happy. I never believed the Jean/Wolverine thing and love triangles are one of the weakest forms to drive up drama.

They seem to fit a hell of a lot better than Scott and Jean.
 
Well, this was certainly unexpected. I finally got around to reading Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men and it's.... shit. It's just a parade of dumb ideas. I give up. 15 issues is my limit.

I hope they don't go there again.

I mean Scott and Jean have history and a special one at that, but it is history and Scott knows this. NXM made a very very good point about it. There was the Madelyne storyline, and the Phoenix Clone storyline etc. The way S/J was treated in the 90ties damaged both their characters as they become very stale. Jean was both stale and incredibly complicated. The best thing that ever happend to Scott was the clean cut from Jean (and to a equal amount: Xavier). And that he got to be with Emma.

Now going back to a S/J or even S/J/L situation may be idiotic. Especially as the characters are all in places where it would make no sense at all at the current time

The most interesting thing is that dull Scott and fiery Jean of the end of their run weren't a great match, but current fuck the world Scott and that Jean would be great together.

But we know how this ends, right? Jean and Logan get it on, but Scott makes a big enough fuss that Emma leaves (they've alluded to this already).
 
I dunno, I don't see them getting back together for some time. After what Scott did to Xavier? No way.

OTOH, I suppose she can relate. ;p
 
I grew up with Jean/Scott, so I miss that pairing, but I've grown to like the Scott/Emma pairing better. It serves both characters better.

But, we know relationships have a very limited expiration date in comics and Marvel loves them some Logan, so it just all feels inevitable.
 
I only got one question from the recent X-Men issue

Where did the grandson of Xavier come from?! The future I know but who gave birth to him in the present day and where is he then?

I didn't read it yet but I expecting it would be. I was never really into Andy Kubert (Adam either) but I've never read anything he's written. I wonder if that Damien book of his will turn out ok..

I really don't think they'll go back to scott and jean again, I just meant that Scott would be spooked seeing one of the most important women in his life as the teenager he fell in love with again. That would mess with your head in all kinds of ways.

I think Scott should be with spooky Illyana for a bit, she's great.

I'm not proposing a theory, I'm just repeating what Marvel spokespeople have said themselves :lol

First it was Disassembled/House of M/Civil War as a trilogy. Then the trilogy was Civil War/Secret Invasion/Siege, with a separate mutant trilogy of House of M/Messiah Complex/something else (dropped off these books a long time ago). Then it was Siege/Fear Itself/Avengers vs. X-Men. And World War Hulk is somewhere in there as part of one trilogy.

One event just builds to the next and the events are placed together retroactively. There's no huge, decade-spanning overarching plan to it.

I'm not saying there's no connection between the time travel/universal breakdowns seen in Age of Ultron, Infinity, Superior Spider-Man, Avengers, Thor, Hulk, etc. It would be absurd if there wasn't since these are all coming out at the same time. I'm just saying I don't think what we're seeing here is either the payoff for a long con or the beginnings of an even BIGGER event; it's just, to co-opt Rafa's phrase, another cog in the machine.

I hear to. Too many joints in the figures. But the 2013 DCC lineup seems to move towards this 25 PoA layout. (The Snyder/Capullo Batman figures have them too).

But I think the sculpts are strong and under regular lightning and size the may not look that "cut up". And the plastic used by DCC is getting better so the issue of breaking or bedning may not exist and the details will be sculpted instead of the painted on like Mattel used to do.

kitty looks like she's in her 50s or 60s. beast is probably older, given the cane. lady xorn is indeterminate but late 30s to mid 40s is plausible.

given those ages, xaviers grandson does not yet exist in the present. dude looks early 20s.
 
Hey got a question guys. I love to wait and buy the volumes of certain Marvel comic series for the Kindle. Does anyone know of a good site to see and keep track of upcoming releases for them? I really hate having to guess when they're releasing them in and then having to surf by every so often and do a search in the kindle store for the new volumes.

It'd be nice to know what changes, specifically, are being made last minute. Because everything about these tweets is pretty much the status quo at the moment; The comic book life cycle of Sales -> Drop Off -> Attempt To Revitalize -> Cancellation. Only high profile or successful books get to break out of this loop.

The only abnormality about this change is that it happened a bit sooner than I'd have expected. Only Justice League International was canceled at a higher pull count. By DCs usual standards, Batwoman had a few thousand more sales it could lose before it began the "re-energizing" attempts.

Sounds like an interesting premise: a young woman develops superpowers and decides to become a superhero. The difference? She was an unlikeable b*tch that everybody hated before she got powers, and she's using the hero identity to redeem herself without letting everybody know it's the b*tch they all hate.

"'I used to try to tear to people down; now I can physically tear them apart, and I'm trying to not be that person' is a lot of the conflict of the story," he said. "Furious, the character, is looking into a very dark mirror, and saying, 'How do I get out of this hellish hole I dug for myself?'"
