Microsoft Is So Sorry About How It's Treated Xbox One Fans So Far

They should apologize by changing some of this bullshit:
xbox-one-gold-features.jpg
Someone should make an info graphic for people like me who don't play my and just want to watch effing Netflix and hbo go.

My solution was an apple TV. $100 once and $0 a year.

Who is to stay how many? What if Killer Instinct bombs? I wouldn't hesitate that Microsoft would pull the plug on DH fast if they weren't making money off KI.

That's my biggest worry behind this whole model. Playstation All-Stars was supposed to get DLC for a whole year, it bombed and Sony sent Superbot packing. We lost Abe, Dart and who knows who else.

It wont.
It's not a gull price game. They'll sell skins, characters, full versions etc.
unlike PS all star, it doesnt have a full price tag barrier to overcome and its a good game too.

Nah. It's more like asking your wife to be a swinger and apologizing when she says no. You didn't do the deed but your intentions were clear.
That's... actually a great analogy. And the wife will let her fears get the best of her for years (for good reason), because she doesn't know if her husband is faithful or will be caught with another woman one of these days. Oh the humanity!

Well, I've got to give MS some credit for actually learning some humility.

Good for them it didn't take the console blowing up in their face for them to get there. Like Sony with PS3.

It's had a lot of bad press sadly, we're going to have to wait and see. If the Xbox One itself sells well, then I think KI has a chance. That's me considering everyone who gets an Xbox One will try the KI demo, which they might not.

Please, get over yourself. People like myself aren't blind enough to easily forgive a certain company for pulling such ridiculous stunts like you are.
I completely agree. I think people will find that many people in this thread are fed up Xbox fans like myself. Microsoft has always been full of shit. I have no reason to believe they will not go back on their word. It will take the next ten years to convince me they've actually changed.

*Hipster glasses* I've been fed up with them since the RRoD fiasco. the 180 had rock solid reliability and still does. The 360 broke if I so much as looked at it wrong until the slims. Fuck them.

And fuck Nintendo for my NES's breaking just as much as the 360 as well.

There is literally nothing MS could do or say to satisfy some of you. It's a shame really. Even if you're the biggest Sony or Nintendo fan you should want tough competition.

I get the feeling people are afraid the XB1 will be a big success.

Gamers should never be satisfied period. Unless they are playing the Ocarina of time or Tetris.

It will take years for people to forget about all this crap Microsoft tried to pull. All it really need is great games and people will happily buy the console no matter how messed up launch was.

I may buy the Xbox One but I'll never forget why they tried to do so if I buy the system it's knowing that they may try to put some of the things back. This said there wasn't only bad things. DRM or always online could have brought some good features so I'll see.

Also why people seem to forget that Sony was heavily rumored to do the same. Are you seriously believing that they weren't thinking of doing this? We'll see but to prove my point I'll just start with the mandatory install. This is clearly a DRM thing... and online pass were already here on PS3 (see EA games) so they already fucked us with traded games. Go buy Fifa and try to play online without buying the pass... yeah impossible (this was also on 360 though).

Yeah both are wanting the same imo. Sony was just smart enough to wait a little and change plans when they saw what were people's reactions.

Good gif idea for this thread:

TDK, when Gordon is talking to Harvey in the hospital bed. Gordon says I'm sorry, Harvey turns and says, "No, you're not. NOT YET" revealing his face.

It was something like that.

Discussing doing something is harmless. They saw their consumers didn't want it so when it came to e3 there was no sign of it. MS went with it in it's full glory, doubled down in many interviews and even mocked people that had issue after E3. It took pre-order sales to get them to change their minds and it wasn't until just recently they allowed you to unhook Kinect.

There is no parallel.

I want competition, just not from MS. IMO they are a negative influence on the games industry. As I've said before they would be much better for gaming if they stuck to publishing software, not making hardware (something they are NOT good at doing).

I'd rather see Sega come back and compete or something like that. Not that I am entirely against Microsoft. I did buy both Xbox and 360 at launch. This time things will be different though.

As for being afraid of XB1 being a big success, personally I could care less either way. Hoeever, signs are pointing to PS4 being the big success, in the short term, at least. Quite frankly man, you sound scared of the PS4. Are you?

Press really doesnt matter, when you can try the game for free, even the netcode.

I agree. They're already becoming the next Sega in terms of losing a lot of trust from consumers (& we've seen that all happen during the SNES/Genesis era with tons of add-on's, as well as launching Sega Saturn very early & with a $400 price tag).

Not sure why MS is still talking about the past.

They would better positioned to take a word of advice from Don Draper:

"If you don't like what's being said change the conversation"

Of course it's not the same and I understand when people are saying that they don't trust Microsoft and that their behavior post 180 was unacceptable because we are what makes them exist in the first place but if it was me and if the games on the system were really the ones that I want to play a lot then I would just be happy that with this big u turn they made the system interesting for me.

Regarding Sony my point is mostly that people are thinking that they are a sort of savior that want the good and came to save us but it's just a business decision. It's still a very good decision and I'm happy with it but it's just the beginning and if you're buying a console to play games then things can change pretty fast.

First Albert and now Hryb mentions "for the next 10 years"

Looks like that's their projection for the gen's length. I mean it was pretty obvious based on trends, but still.

It's possible that the next gen consoles will be far shorter than people think. First off they didn't push the tech as much as the current gen did at launch. That means that the barrier to entry for a competitor is much lower. Apple, Google, Amazon or Valve could introduce a new console in a few years that could blow the PS4 or XB1 out of the water. Or I could see Google and Amazon going the other route. They could offer a console that matched Sony's and MS's specs, but at a greatly reduced and subsidized price. More completion would push console makers to release new products sooner to remain distinct.

Second, the specs for the XB1 and PS4 seem to be just below what is needed to support VR goggles. I think both consoles will introduce a version that will have the hardware that will enable a "True VR Mode". That would allow any game that supported it to run at the same resolution but at twice the frame rate to support stereoscopic view.

Don't believe it one bit inbetween the shit they do on windows and xbox platforms, I've had enough of them. They will only get my money when upgrades are needed and since xbox is giant paywall have little interest even with the exclusives I love on it.

This, too many people seem personally invested in wanting the console to fail. It won't. To people that ditched MS after DRM gate enjoy your PS4 and great games. But the constant need to portray the Xbox One as the worst thing to ever happen is getting old. You can barely have discussions in X1 related threads without them getting derailed in the first 10 or so posts.

.

Not sure if that's sarcasm, but if the XBoxOne hasn't blown up in their faces, that's news to me.

Um, wrong.

Also, do you honestly think that Sony would be dumb enough to risk squandering the PS brand further down the drain after what happened to them with the PS3? ROFL.

After the DRM announcement my son and his friends are all going PS4. They all use gamefly and redbox and don't want to chance it.

MS made a huge error, especially when coupled with weaker hardware and the higher price.

I'm not saying that Sony was going to.... But your evidence is a second hand source of someone who saw interviews of Sony guys saying they weren't going to do it? Uh...

Show not speak. Sony apologized for the crappy stuff they did but they showed me they were sorry. Microsoft has yet to do that. Sooooooooo whenever they are ready to stop being dirty and compete without trashing their competitors blantly and kill them with kindness, we can be friends again

To the guy who suggested it's sad how there's literally nothing MS could say to change some of our minds and we should welcome the competition, the only thing MS has successfully brought to the table this coming generation are paywalls. So if you're into paying for online, fucking yay I guess.

But you're right. There is nothing MS could say. Other than Forza there isn't a franchise on Xbox consoles I give 2 shits about. Not enough that I'd ever forget how many pieces of shit 360's I had to go through last generation because of their faulty hardware. If I continued to give MS money after that fiasco, you would be right in calling me a fucking idiot. If I said it once, I said it a thousand times: Microsoft has seen my last dime.

Um, wrong.

Ok. I may have to wait (I won't buy at launch) but I swear that if nobody tries I wont connect my PS4 to the internet for my 5 first games (if I can) and I won't install at least one game.

I'll add to my list all the things that points to a previous always online / DRM system.

If I'm wrong I'll be more than happy because I'll have bought the system which have not only the games I prefer but the system from a company that understand my point of view about video games and the relations between devs / editors / distributors / gamers.

Edit : don't forget that third party publishers can do what they want... so yes there is still DRM functionalities in the system. Only Nintendo doesn't want that people have to pay for online but now that it's the case for both Sony and Microsoft I won't see them staying like that for long. If they want more third party support (at launch) they'll have to please them (EA, Activision...) with this shitty features :(

There were mandatory installs with most PS3 games because of the slow Blu-Ray drive. It isn't exactly new. The same issue would happen on PS4 & Xbox One, regardless.

People just won't buy their games if that happens, period. Look at what happened to Capcom with the PSN versions of Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 & Final Fight: Double Impact when there was Online DRM inside those versions of games, while the XBLA versions didn't have them. People didn't buy them, & it forced Capcom to not try that again.

You don't really have a choice, they install in the background automatically.

Yes but what I didn't like in this gen doesn't obligatory have to be here for next gen. With the way you think they'll just come to what Microsoft was planning in a few years. With the mandatory updates they'll find an excuse to say "you know all the new 2015 games will be always online so...".

And I'm not buying EA or Activision's games anymore (it's going to be hard for Titan Fall but I may only play at one of my friend's house. They'll all buy it so).
I even only played the Fifa 13 demo for a whole year... Fifa 14 demo incoming lol (or PES since the game seems to be better this year).

You don't really have a choice, they install in the background automatically.

Then there's another proof of my claim. No DRM but mandatory installs and in the background.

Sorry but I'm really thinking that updates after updates they'll just fuck us (in the background lol)

PS4 also does it. It's for performance reasons.
