• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

GTA V has gone gold.

I wonder what type of stat tracking will be in this game. I hope the game displays at least the same level of statistics as in IV. I love looking over that stuff and seeing precisely how much of my life I have wasted on a single piece of software!

IGN sad that code was not final one

It'll be at least near-final. Certainly past the stage where major sacrifices are made to improve performance. And look at it this way, if the performance was good with non-final code, surely final code will be even better?

So many cynics here. :(

That doesn't mean a thing. Debug consoles have the same specs as regular consoles, but can run unsigned code. It will be final code they are running, just not off a published disc.

Not entirely true. some debug console of the ps3 and xbox 360 got more then 512mb ram.

is this GTA V ?

Edit: oh my bad, its from the trailer.

Only good thing coming out of GTAForums. /rolleyes
That and trailer analysis plus summaries of articles. They also do extensive databases of the various things in the trailers. Their modding forums are good too. they may have a terrible community overall, but there are a few gems in there.

Wait, no hidden packages? One of my favorite things about open world games, especially if they are tied to bonuses or stats. Most depressing news for me so far.

Achievement Spoiler:
There are spaceship and nuclear part collectables from the leaked achievements list IIRC

That Atomic Blimp pre-order bonus content, how sure can I be it will actually be included? Because the website I want to order from doesn't mention it.

Code was probably 95-100% complete and that little percent will be on minor tweaks and such. I've played many debug titles 1 month before release and they rarely differ from the final version.

I've only noticed differences from code which is 2 months or older and since the game went gold I expect IGN are playing the final build but just not retailed.

The actual city looks small as fuck. Way smaller than GTAIV's.

Lol at mistake. Is this the actual size of the city or some BS estimation? This is my main concern.

I'm pretty positive that they were using a debug version and non final code to show them different things like the day/night cycle. At least that's what they implied on the IGN video preview.

It's not an actual pre-order bonus, it's "make sure to pre-order or you could miss out on" bonus in it's likely packed in with every first run copy of the game.

That's what I thought as well but when you watch some footage where it shows the scale then it's really big.

Liberty City in IV was fucking huge. I still don't know my way around much of it, especially on the third island which I didn't spend as much time on. Given the scale of the overall world, I don't think Los Santos needs to be as big as Liberty City. You won't be in it half as much and what we've already seen of it is already about the size of two Liberty City islands put together.

Based on the description's of the maps size from those who are working on it and those who have played it, I would say this map has underestimated the size of the city by quite a bit.

Or at least, so I'd hope, because if it's accurate I'll definitely feel a sense of let down after all the hype around the maps size.

The 'city' portion of the map is legit. By comparing the airport runways, Los Santos is about the same size as Liberty City.

Over 70 hours playing IV and I can safely say I know my way around. I can't wait to be introduced to another new city and spend so much time in it. One of my favorite things about Rockstar's open world games.

Quote from a magazine interview on GTA V with Aaron Garbut - the GTA V art director:
"I made a conscious decision upfront that the city should be no smaller than Liberty City so effectively I shoved all the Liberty islands together and that became the scale for the city."

Los Santos is at a absolute bare minimum the same size of LC in terms of landmass but from multiple scaling methods that have been done it's the size of Liberty City including the water between islands or up to 20% larger than Liberty City.

You can't compare runways because their sizes have been inconsistent throughout the series, hell GTA:SA alone had runways of different sizes.
