Not a movie, but The Shield is a fantastic TV crime drama series set in LA that might keep you occupied until launch.

Hell yeah. I love this movie, and several shots from GTA5 resemble scenes from Miami Vice.
Yes, everyone needs to watch the Shield. The entire series is on Amazon Prime streaming.

I think Heat and Collateral set the best tone for the location if that makes sense. Michael Mann is just incredible at nailing the "balmy summer night on the west coast" feeling.
Actually wish Groove Armada - Hands of Time, used in Collateral, was in this game too. Just for cruising at night!

I remember in Vice City they had Michael Jackson - Billie Jean i believe or was it You Wanna Be Startin Something? It was always like that as soon as you entered the first vehicle as soon as you got control over your character.
With GTA3 i believe it was just chat radio regarding the bridge or something. With San Andreas i dont remember, since the first vehicle is a bike, which obviously does not have radio.

It's interesting going back to GTA: SA, its really full of the same super scripted missions as the ones people complained about in IV, complete with cars/characters invincible til the game decides the chase is over. Lots of on rails shooting too.
That's my one worry about GTA V, that with the focus on meticulous heists and multiple characters, it'll be missing the more open-ended missions of the early games in favor of more elaborate scripted sequences.

I just REALLY love these types of towns ( small, dusty, dirt roads and look almost abandoned) so to see this makes me super excited.
Probably the first place I will visit in game!

Man, I just thought... wouldn't it be awesome if they had high stakes poker games available in online play? Like Red Dead, only this time you can actually drop into them from free mode, and the money you're playing with actually means something since it's used for so much in the game world.

Just seen my class timetable for the year. On Tuesdays I have classes at 9.00-10.30 with my next at 15.00-17.00. Honestly can't believe this, will either attend the first then come home and then go back, or just miss the first class. Can't believe this as my timetable for every other day is sweet as hell.

My Monday is lessons 09:30 until 13:00 then I have NOTHING until 16:00 for ONE lesson. Feel bad for me!
Tuesday's not bad, I finish at 14:00, a good three hours headstart. =D
Dawww, much love right back at you! I'm beyond excited like all of us in the thread- eagerly counting days, watching GAF recommended movies, re-watching trailers, and getting mentally prepared for this awesomeness!
I get weirdly attached to GTA releases- there's so much history with each title, so many things that we grew up with during the series evolution and so much expectation. And I do post pretty critically about shit game journalism or videogame stories I really dislike- but of late, it's just been this strange feeling that this game will really be one of those titles that we'll be lost in for years. Nobody builds an open world like Rockstar- I love my Sleepy Dawgs, inFamouses, Saints Rows- but nothing feels like that hype when staring at two screenshots of GTA V for more than a year!
And that dilemma of which system to get it on- fortunate to have both consoles (thankful for that like no other!) but going 360. Just to party up with ease! How about you?!
