Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

So uh, we still ain't got a clue whatsoever as to the identity of Shahid's mysterious can't-wait game, huh. Other than it's not a port---allegedly---what do we know about this?

Probably something that will be announced at some point, or not. I've just stopped caring about that game, really.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I never even got hyped. Not everybody has the same tastes, so just because he got really excited doesn't mean I'll be really excited. We don't know anything else about it other than what you said.

Thanks a lot. Your impression made me almost go buy the game on this instant xD.

But first i must wait that my 32gb card gets delievered so i can download it, but i guess i'll finally try the game.

Only played half of the first episode on ipad and guessed i would prefer playing with a control.
Guess i'll give my vita some more gaming to do.

It's a beautiful game. I'm not ashamed to say I cried some.

:(

He needs to sustain this hyping in some way. Maybe releasing info bit by bit. Only acting energetic the first time then keeping silent for a long while will make people care less and less and less about his promoting/teasing.

Football Manager Classic Edition I'm betting.

For some reason I thought it's going to be a JRPG, since I *think* this is also one of the other things that we know about it other than it's not a port. But maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

If it indeed that, then all I can say is, "Eh, goddamn lame." :( Not my type of game at all.

Tried Urban Trials Freestyle yesterday and man it's tons of fun. And it looks fantastic, I just wish a framerate was a little better.

Gotta think big picture--if the game is a hit and sells Vitas to the masses we all benefit. (I'm not into FM either, though maybe I could be. Just never gave the genre a chance.)

But re Shahid's tease I'm also thinking hoping it's a JRPG.

First, it's a third party game so he can't really tease any real info as that's the third party publisher's decision.
Secondly, whatever he does there will be a backlash, "surprisingly" especially from non-Vita owners...
Even here, we had some people calling him names. I don't care for his hyping, he does a great job and I know it.

It was probably Football Manager anyway, which is fine by me.

Hmm yes, you are right. If it can sell more Vitas then why not.

Anyways, I just *know* I won't like it since I also dislike soccer.

It's a great management sim, I know a few people who don't care much about football that actually love it. You have to like sports at least, I would think.

PSP had Football Manager games. Didn't see to do much for that platform.

I've no idea how well FM sold on PSP but wasn't the PSP itself considered somewhat a success after all was said and done? (Not Nintendo DS-level success, but respectable.)

Honestly speaking, I haven't even played anything from the series so maybe. I just really don't care at all about soccer though. I mean, even when my friends/colleagues are crazy about World Cups I just go meh.

Anyways, what sports I like is Tennis. I'd *really* love a Top Spin title for the Vita; the Virtua Tennis series is so silly I just can't take it seriously.

It is silly but I think the core gameplay is solid. The silly stuff is just icing on the cake.

Something I noticed about AC:L is that it is the only game I know of that runs worse with apps open in the background on the Vita. I had the photos and trophies apps open (for collectibles and seeing what trophies I still needed) and the game was running like it used to before the bug fix and performance improvement patch (sub-30 FPS). With the apps closed, the game runs much smoother (30 FPS with stutters here and there).

Thanks! This worked great.

Yes, but I doubt FM had much to do with that, lol.

Is that Sony conference in an hour?

In another thread you said SCEJ's stopped shipping Vitas in Japan. Do you have a source for that? I assumed that the drop off in sales had to do with the Toukiden bundles clearing the channels or something.

The official SCEJA store says "out of stock" for some models like 2 weeks I supporse. Note that if they are to discontinue current models then they usually say straight out "to be discontinued". That's why I'm not expecting new models (new bundles maybe). And yes, I agree that halting shipment is to clear out some of current bundles and limited editions.
As for local retailers, quite a few of them are out of stock but black model.

so

how bout that new vita

-lighter and thinner
-LCD instead of OLED
-longer battery life
-1GB builtin memory
-micro USB port
-~20000 yen
-64GB memory card 10500 yen MSRP
-memory card price drop (32GB ~6500 yen)

Yeah gross. I could immediately tell before they even said it that the screen didn't look as good as my vita. On the other hand, it has micro usb and longer battery life. Dammit.

I don't see either as enough of a selling point to warrant a new purchase. Good for us early adopters I guess. If they doubled the battery life, I'd buy it in an instant though/

So when she says collaboration-battle games, is that like the genre term for Monster Hunter-type games? Don't think I've heard it before.

64GB makes me so happy... hopefully they remove the 100 app limit to go with it

...another Phantasy Star tease of something we won't get. GTFO Sega.

Phantasy Star Nova announced, it's an offline version of PSO2 using the same environments and world but is structured as a single player game? I might have that wrong but that's how I'm understanding it. Made by Tri-ace. The speaker is citing Phantasy Star Portable as a comparison.

New Vita with OLED would have been insta-bought :/

Nah. If it is the same OLED, even with micro-usb, 1 hour extra battery life, and thinner frame it is too incremental an update to consider buying a whole new system for. Maybe the next revision.

Standard USB, same non-standard memory. LCD. Snore..
if they're downgrading the screen why is it the same price instead of a cheaper model?
