Original Vita vs Vita PCH-2000, which one do/would you prefer?

TN LCD is a poor option for devices where viewing angles are important.

I've had a vita for over a year now and I only ever have it directly in front of my eyes... I don't think that's going to be an issue.

Original, I don't like the border around the screen on the new one, also OLED probably much better than the TN panel they'll use for cost saving.

Team OG White reporting in. Sad that the OLED won't be available anymore, but hope this new model can help drive more sales. More Vita = More Awesome!

The issue with TN is not only viewing angles but also fake colors.

If TN is indeed used, then my only guess is that Sony might have chosen so for the faster response time in order to avoid ghosting.

The "bezel" around the screen in the new model looks so horrible. No idea what they were thinking, though it may just be due to the fact that they need room for the backlight in the LCD version. Still looks ugly though.

Yeah. I hadn't noticed that until that picture of the white model was posted a few posts up. That looks really bad.

I prefer the original. OLED is a big difference for me. I usually would go for battery life, but only 1 hour more is negligible.

I am going to buy the new one just for the collection but I will most likely use my 3G/wi-fi one more. Oh and PS vita TV is a day one for me! Killzone: mercenary multiplayer on my TV....yes please

I actually love the more rounded design on the new one. Will buy, don't know what color though. Maybe black to contrast my white OG vita.
Why buy any when you can get that awesome Vita set-top box?

Because I like handhelds, and playing their games the proper way.

I can't declare a team until I see a comparison. With all the problems people have had with the OLED (yes, before someone says "I've never had any problems," I *know* some people haven't had any problems, but enough had that there's an entire horror thread) I can't help but think they put an immature tech on there to look good and be a cool marketing thing.

Maybe I'm just a shitty peasant but I'm playing my PSP now and while it certainly could be better, I'm not turned off by it. It's a screen. You play games on it.

What kind of LCD is it? Some LCDs can easily outclass OLED.
How so?

There are no LCDs which can match the motion resolution, black levels, and contrast ratio of OLED. They simply do not exist.

And here's some IPS CDs AMOLED pic
Not entirely applicable to the Vita discussion as a lot of phone manufacturers tried to save battery life by using a pentile matrix subpixel arrangement which absolutely destroys text rendering. Vita uses a typical RGB arrangement.

Ok. I like the OLED, but honestly I'll sacrifice quality image for a thinner lighter PORTABLE. Because the innovation for a handheld to me is when it's sleeker and lighter. I take my OG VITA on the go, and my turn-offs are the sun issues on my screen, and I just don't like the heftiness of it. I love the improvement of the handheld on the 2000, I'd love to feel it in my hands and see how much lighter and thinner it is.

The first thing we noticed was that the OLED used in the Vita seems to be a Super AMOLED Plus display, as seen in the Samsung Galaxy S2. At least, that's what it looks like when you see the screen's sub-pixels up-close.
It's not too much of a surprise to see that colours aren't reproduced accurately. The average Delta E is 5.2, whereas we consider colours to be accurate with a Delta E of 3 or lower.

From the pic I post above, S2's white is not as white as LG Optimus's, Htc One X's, iPhone4s's

I remember how much nicer the psp-1000 was than than the 2000. Lighter and thinner does nothing for me and the screen downgrade is not ideal. Will not replace my current model.

I am currently deciding too, I want a white one so badly and it's not available here - so I might give up the OLED for the color, hehe. Or not :/

Things I like about the new model:

Better battery life. I have no problems with the current battery life but more is always better.
It's thinner. While I never considered the Vita to be bulky, I like a slim profile when it comes to electronics.
Start / Select buttons. I think it is a pain to press these buttons on the original Vita and they addressed the issue.
Colors. My black Vita looks great but if I had a choice, I might go for a different style.

I still prefer the look of the original Vita because the front looks like it is made out of one piece, while the new screen is completely surrounded by a border.
I don't think the screen would make a huge difference to me. I'm a little miffed about the burn in on my screen but it's not visible during gameplay so I don't care.

Wait, it's a TN panel? Ugh! A nice IPS panel with high PPI would've still been a decent substitute for AMOLED, but TN is a no go for me.

Well, I love my OLED vita, but the new model does look quite good. Those new start and select buttons are the only thing I really like from the new model, as battery life etc is not really an issue for me.
