The screen on the new Vita seems to be a bit smaller. Any official specs?

The screen looks slightly smaller on the new model.
It doesn't look bad head on. Less saturated of course. Who knows if it holds up at various angles, though, and how the contrast and black levels are.
Nah, I think the OG Vita is just closer than the 2000 in the picture.
They could've at least used the same coloured background for a fair comparison...
You can still look at the bubbles for a fairly accurate comparison. The white in the LCD version is a bit yellowish, and the blue is a deeper ocean blue on the OG vita compared to a greenish sea blue on the LCD version.
Where are the battery and clock icons on the new model?
I think the background color affects the lighting on the bubbles to an extent. But yeah, the screen differences will change the colors a bit.

I actually use both of them so I don't have to switch cards, but I think I'll probably put one into storage so it stays in good condition in case my main Vita breaks.
It's a minor thing which is hard to notice, but you can kinda see it on the edges of the bubbles on the OG Vita (they have a slight red glow). Also, such a large body of colour creates an illusion that warms or cools the entire image, which is why I have my problems comparing a grey and red background.
You can still see the differences, but I can't call it a "fair" comparison.
Wish I could get it. It seems crazy that me, the person with like a 100 Vita games, doesn't have it. I just don't have the money right now.

But I think the bigger factor here is that that's probably an old Vita unit, and the blue colors have degraded a bit + the LCD/OLED differences.
I've been having fun playing it since its release here in Aus back on the 4th. Really impressed with the graphics and how smooth it runs (though there are a couple of hiccups here and there).
However, I still haven't tried out multiplayer as I'm hooked on FFXIV right now.

The retail is bloody expensive where I live (like, around 47 bucks) and so far only R3 copies are available, so I have been holding out.

The edges reflect the background color, but the body of the icons show no discernable difference.
Overall, it is very mediocre. The gameplay becomes really repetitive once you gain a couple of key abilities midway. Once you have them, there is absolutely no reason to use any of the others you gain. It is also relatively short for an RPG.
Honestly, the entire world and character would've been better used for a third-person action game like Devil May Cry.
I still enjoyed it, but I find it hard to recommend to others unless you're a fan of the character designs.

I'm considering doing the same thing. Hugely disappointed in the apparent downgrades from Vita 2.0.

Isn't this a mock-up, not a real Vita 2000? There are no battery or clock icons, also there are 5 apps in the background but the ">" button/icon is missing.

I played some Lumines while the KZM patch was downloading, along with some other stuff, and never got started with KZM. Lumines is pretty fun. I don't know why I didn't enjoy the demo a long time ago... shouldda got this game at launch. At least it was only $11.

As for Vita 2.0, a few Japanese game stores are displaying demo kiosks already I heard. However I still haven't seen them in my eyes.
That said, reports from bloggers say by itself screen look nice and motion blur ghosts (or whatever they are called) are unnoticeable. Of course it's not like those stores are displaying Vita 1.0 and 2.0 side by side, so it's just an impression, not comparison.

I kind of like the new Vita.
I hated Chie at the beginning of the game, but now she's one of my favorites. Her special move where she punts the shadow out of battle cracks me up.
Hmmm...no page "dots" on the left hand side either.
