Wii U Games 2013

For my Wii U I use a 1TB external, still have over 900GB left. Mine isn't externally powered via outlet so I had to buy a USB Y cable (connects to two USB ports on the Wii U) so that it can provide enough power to the external HD.

I tried a Y splitter and it did not work. Mains powered works fine but does the Wiiu really need massive size hard drives?
I run a 250gb and the normal 32gb internal and I doubt I have used 50gig.

The Wii U doesn't need anything other than what it has. Question is simply: what do YOU need.

I bet the smallest external drive you can get right now will be more than enough for the vast majority of users. I still haven't even used half the space of the internal flash memory.

Two days ago I bought a Toshiba HDWC120EK3J1 2TB external drive. Works like a charm and it's plug & play. It does have an external power supply but that's not a huge issue for me.

Sorry for off topic but I need GAF's help.

Is there a reliabel source with an up to date list containing all released Wii U games and the following data:

  • MSRP on release
  • release date
  • developer (maybe further differentiated between co-developed/ported)
  • publisher
  • distributor

I'm interested in all the different markets (worldwide).
I'm particularly looking for data about the physical copies of the games (but download version would also be appreciated)

MSRP will be a problem in Europe, but I think the other markets should be fine.
MSRP on release, because retailers will reduce the price over time (they have their own list price...don't know if that is the MSRP)

I haven't found the MRSP on the official websites from Nintendo.
There is also a qualitative disparity between the different websites of all regions.
Most game databases from their websites aren't up to date or contain false information...

Hey guys remember those cool Panorama videos? Has big ol' ninty walked away from the plans of releasing more? I wish they had some underwater video and a couple of weeks ago i had a dream where they released one inside the ISS...

GameFAQs ist the best site for information like this.

I'll update the list soon, lot of other work to do. ;)

Anyone else get an estimated delivery of Nov 14, 2013 for bayonetta 2? Just got the email today from Amazon.

You know just as well as anybody that this means absolutely jack squat. Nintendo doesn't give out release dates more than a year early. Expect a release date for the game 1-2 months before it comes out.

This is 2 month before. :D
not that I believe that Bayonetta 2 is coming out this November. Although it would be epic if so.

I have strong feeling that nintendo will announced so many games with Wii U update this month or next month.

I hope nintendo add so many good things in system specially in-game voice chat & text.

didn't know where else to put this:

It appears this is what the final Wii U devkits look like:

Pretty much like the Wii devkits which also had that green faceplate. Seems to be the first public appearance of a final WiiU kit.

Compare with:

Man we need a green 3ds xl or wii u.

nice!

If Wii U is the same as Wii, the devices with a green or red front are test and debug units, whereas devkits come in a metal case. Wiis with a green front take burned optical disks, those with a red front have a hard disk instead of an optical drive.

Shin'en said their Wii U games will now be unveiled next quarter (starts Oct 1st), I believe that very largely points the Fall Conference/Direct for October this year. This ties to it because Nano Assault NEO was announced last year at the Fall Conference.

Also there are the rumors that Emily Rogers said about the fall update and other odds and sods for around the end of the year.

(Just going by memory):

- Fall Update
- Miiverse and NNID 3DS (and Mobile devices right?)
- Potential shared account balance between Wii U and 3DS eShop
- Purchasing eShop goods from mobile devices and PC

So that's certainly A LOT to talk about in a Fall Conference/Direct. It HAS to happen, it MUST. But most of all for the GAMES. It's just a question of when. Hopefully soon enough. The conferences from 2007 and 2008 were in early October (10th and 2nd respectively), no later than that. Was hoping for September since the last two years were on September 13th (and the 27th in 2010). But Shin'en's unveiling next quarter makes that very unlikely now.

I really hope has a full team working on the OS features. They can't compete on hardware so they need to make up for it in software and OS features. Miiverse is great but not nearly enough.

Remote purchase will do wonders for Nintendo and their online infrastructure as a whole.
It's not an exclusive thing since Sony will do the same for PS4 and most likely Microsoft for Xbox One but still, a great feature.

It really baffles me that they entered a new generation without the features of last generation.

Hardware specs I can look pass but not standard OS features. A proper friend system, notification, etc.

Here is hoping they are hard at work this whole time doing it. They had almost a year to remedy it.

Huh? There is a proper friend system...what do you mean?

Anyway, does anyone know what the recent Netflix update did?

Probably only eShop and/or low profile games. Beyond that... nope.
They have a healthy line up for this Holiday season so I think they're good for this year.

Yeah, there's not much else big to expect out of this year. Nintendo's got a solid holiday lineup that is backed up by most of the big third party game releases (sure they won't likely sell well, but their at least they'll be made available). We also know that there's more indie games coming, according to Nintendo, around 20-30 are planned, but you can likely bet that some will end up getting delayed into 2014.

We do we know that Miyamoto's teased us about two projects. The first one is a a free-to-play steel diver-based multiplayer project, but I don't think he mentioned for which platform(s). Miyamoto said he'd like to reveal it soon, so we may see it during the next Nintendo Direct video. The second title is a new IP, but no details have been announced. I don't think we'll hear about any new big game releases for 2013 or 2014 in the Fall Direct, and I doubt we'll have any significant Wii U news come out of Tokyo Game Show later this month.

Miyamoto mentioned working on a new franchise back in July during a Famitsu interview:

We’ll have Mario Kart 8 out next spring, and at that point we’ll have the whole lineup in place, so I think it’s about time we brought out a new franchise. I can’t give out details, but that’s the title that’s been keeping me pretty busy lately. -

For the record, we already know about a handful of confirmed 2014 titles coming to Wii U. These are Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, X, and Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei. Yoshi's Yarn will likely be out in 2014 as well, but I don't think it has been confirmed yet.

I would expect something before or by the time PS4 and XB1 releases. It makes sense but you already know Nintendo.

Friendly reminder, RE: new franchise, that Miyamoto also said he doesn't consider "new franchise" to constitute as "new character".

You mean it can be a spin-off like Kid Icarus: Uprising or Kirby's Epic Yarn ?

Yes. It could be anything, including something staring the Mario series characters. For example, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, and Mario & Luigi RPG (and so on) would be considered "new franchises", because they're not part of the Super Mario Bros. umbrella. Miyamoto said he didn't consider new franchises as needing new characters if other characters fit.

Given that we didn't know about any of this holiday season's Wii U titles until June, it's possible, particularly with regard to DD titles.

You don't group the mainline Mario games and Mario spinofffs together. Then within the mainline there are 3D Mario games and 2D Mario games. There have been 5 mainline 3D Mario games in the span of 19 years? 11 mainline 2D Mario games in the span of 28 years?

In one gen we got a CoD every year, there is a big difference in timespan. This current gen has the most mainline Mario games (5) spanning across both the Wii and the DS.

wat? you can't be for real with this
