Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

My son (4) went with his grandmom to get a game yesterday. For some reason, he bought Katamari after I had just purchased it in that sale for $3.75. Thankfully he didn't open it so I exchanged it for LBP for him.

Katamari is good, but not good enough to own 2 copies of it

Well, I hope he doesn't complains about floaty controls xD. Are you going to buy him Tearaway?

This is likely their email account info@carnivoreshd.com , twitter wise no clue but heres possibly their facebook https://www.facebook.com/carnivores?fref=ts. You can also comment on the YT link I add in my last post.

I'll comment in the Youtube video later. For 13 euros the game has amazing graphics. And open world. It's a game that I wouldn't probably play in a PS3 but I'd love in my Vita. Turning it on after 1/2 hours of study and hunting patiently a dinosaur is definitely better than raging in a Killzone multiplayer match xD

I've made first rage delete since Chronovolt - controls in Jet Set Radio are so pissing me off that they make game nearly unplayable.

If you think the controls in the new ports of JSR are frustrating, keep in mind that they are fantastic compared to the original Dreamcast version, where
1) There was no right analog for camera control
2) The "reset camera" and "spray paint" actions were bound to the same button

New OLED vita owner here, I just bought the walking dead bundle. Didn't buy any games nit PS+ though since I only have enough for the console itself. I do have Suikoden, FF7 and 9 plus the walking dead to keep me occupied with my vita till I have enough money for a 16gb card and Persona 4. Thank god my brother is buying me PS+ XD

Welcome!

Get a screen protector ASAP (Sony 2 pack works fabulously: 1 for front screen, 1 to trim and protect rear touch pad). Enjoy The Walking Dead, one of my favorite games this generation and its awesome to have on Vita.

Is the bundle a standard black Vita?

I recall the CoD bundles having branding on the touchpad. My white Vita (AssCreed bundle) didn't have branding, so not all bundle do...just curious.

That 16gb is going to fill up quick with PS+.
Maybe wait to see what prices on 32gb are when 64gb comes to your region.

Frost vs. The Black Knight and the Haunted Castle in Spelunky is becoming quite the ordeal... >_<

no my vita is just a regular black vita. Still cool though, I love the screen. How much is a two pack? Hopefully I have enough money for that and the 16gb card. (32 is still to expensive)

EDIT:
LOL I can only fit FF9 in my 4gb card. The walking dead needs more space.

I have a 16GB one and I'm managing quite well. Right now I have: Rayman Origins, Gravity Rush ( it love it too much to delete it T.T), Uncharted: GA, Jak and Daxter 1, Wipeout and Soul Sacrifices demo. I have 5,6GB left.

If he isn't planning on downloading every game he has in his PS+ account, a 16gb card is more than enough. I doubt he will play more than 5 games at the same time.

thanks!

Did you get a chance to play ff9 on vita yet? I'm thinking about picking it yup and i'm curious how it runs.

Killzone is nice for a handheld game, but I can definitely understand the less than stellar review scores now. Fighting the Helghast is beginning to feel monotonous and I'm only on level 3. The frequent gameplay interruptions and unskippable cut scenes are also pretty annoying.

Congrats and welcome to the party.

when you get money again buy Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure, it's the greatest Action RPG of the PSP.

Those PS1 games aren't small. So it depends on his preferences... Sure you can juggle things around, but he may not want to. It gets aggravating constantly deleting and restoring games that are 3gb+ in size. If he starts buying DLC and stuff, it makes it even worse (I'm looking at you, SFxT). I don't actively play every game on my card, but I didn't have enough space on my 32gb to buy Killzone digitally.

For every one of the "I manage fine with a 16gb card" there's a "32gb isn't enough!". Personally, I think 16gb is too small, but then again, the majority of my library is digital.

Errr... exactly like the PSOne version, I think? ;)

I'm not saying he don't need to buy it. I'm probably buying a 32gb before Christmas too, but after spending 200 bucks on that thing, you may not spend another 60-80$ / 50-65€ in a damn card. IMO the 16gb one is the perfect balance between price and storage if you recently star playing the Vita.

Once I have a bigger one, I'll probably treat it as my secondary card. I might put there some PS1 and PSP, use it to storage indies or even make it a US PSN mem card for playing somes games that aren't available here in EU.

Runs exactly like the PS1 version, no slowdowns or anything. Its a blast to play

Kinda depressed lately and thinking about impulse buying a Vita game. Was eyeing Need For Speed since I enjoy racing games. Do you guys like the Vita version?

"The point is this. It’s NEVER been easier to get onto PlayStation. And we are working day and night to make it easier and better."

Not if you're a major third party.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Best (car) racer on the Vita by far. I've sunk so much time into it. Shame we aren't getting Need for Speed this year...

They're about $10-12 at Gamestop (the protector set). They're official Sony brand and they go on super, super easily.

smh, the question is where are bigger games, where is Diva F Vita, where is Shinovi Versus and why you don't talk to SE about getting their new annual series on Vita and why you don't work with publisher to get something worthy of my time and money, I'm sick of these smaller sized games.

Forget about Bravely Default when Square Enix is redoing Type-0 for phones (as Agito) when North America and Europe have yet to receive the real deal.

Killzone Mercenary, Dragons Crown, Rayman Legends, Tearaway and Batman Blackgate don't seem like smaller/indie games, to me....

....if they're not your bag, tough shit?

But the games are there.

You can always import, you know, Vita's region free.

it's because SCEE/SCEA guys who are responsible of getting third party/japanese games are doing a freaking horrible job, SE clearly open to publisher if they want to localize their games for their system (see Nintendo and Bravely Default) but we got SCEE/SCEA ignore that and focus on indie games no one care about. FF Agito possibly getting a localization on mobile proof the SE want to give this game for the western FF fans, so yeah I blame this completely on SCEE/SCEA for doing a shitty job with third party.

I don't get why Sony didn't take the original game Type-0 from Square-Enix and asked some developer to do a port of the game. Make it native res, with some AA and better effects and sell it as a proper Vita game for 30 euros.

People in GAF will buy it because it seems to be the unique worth FF experience this gen. The kind of people that bought FF because of its brand name (I know quite a few people that love FF but didn't give a crap about any other JRPG) will buy it without knowing it's a qHD port. Or they won't care.

I personally would take it before a Bordelands late port. At least Type-0 would have been a new experience here.

Cause SE is doing FFX for now! lets hope it sells bucket loads for SE to notice vita and port/make other games too.

It's partially on SCEJ's hands as well. All they got from Square Enix was a port of a PSP Monster Hunter clone, a game that might as well have been a PSP port, a card game phone port, and a multi-platform PS2 port. Type-0 qHD with additional content would sell in Japan too.

They are only doing it because they announced it for VITA way back, when VITA wasn't even out yet!

Then later when VITA was selling like shit, they were like oh shit, what should we do? Finally they announced it for both VITA/PS3 to save their asses and not disappoint their fans. Even though it was originally supposed to be VITA exclusive.

As much as i disagree with Totobeni or Takao, they are being honest here. I am getting tired of asking SCEE or SCEA to set up a localization department. Hey, learn a damn thing or two from Nintendo. Why do they keep wasting their time and energy on indies? Indies will keep coming to platform but what matters is SCEE/SCEA should get off from their damn ass and at least help in localizing some of the VITA exclusives in Japan.

I think the game was vita/ps3 from the start. Infact I even heard it was ps3 only and made vita/ps3 at sony's request.

and that's our daily dose of Toto/Takao negativity...

But they're right, the complete lack of willingness from Japanese companies to localize their Vita games (and Sony's lack of effort in pressuring them) is getting extremely infuriating.

For starters, Sega and Namco should be straight up forbidden from only localizing the PS3 versions of dual-platform PS3/Vita games. There's no excuse for Sony to tolerate this kind of bullshit. At worst they should offer to offset the costs of bringing those games to both platforms, with at least a digital-only version on Vita.

Final Fantasy X was always a PS3/Vita release, which makes Square Enix talking about how this is their Vita test a laugh.

I'm just wondering if there's another side of the story to it.
with all those things going on such as #jrpgvita etc, I am pretty sure Sony sees a demand for these Japanese titles/JRPGs.

Yes, Sony should pressure and offer to pay for the localization fees, offer to publish, etc. I am just wondering if the companies are taking the chance to ask for more and these "mores" are not something that Sony can afford at this time in their overall strategy/framework. and besides, these companies may be locked into certain agreements with other console makers that may hinder negotiations or plans, who knows?

We can always compare Sony to Nintendo but then again, we are comparing a Company that spreads itself (thin) over a number of products to a dedicated gaming company. There are certain strategies and frameworks that differ.

I'm not saying we should cut Sony some slack. But games are games, let's just enjoy what we have and just push and request for those we want in a positive manner.

gimme my Bomberman :(

Exactly!

I am tired of seeing full VITA games like One Piece PW 2 and Project Diva F skipping VITA launch in the States. I mean what's wrong with putting the already localized games on the store. Sony doesn't even seem to bother about them.

I see, i wasn't aware of that. Always thought it was a VITA only title.

And SE is going to use it to gauge fan's interest for their titles on VITA? Now that's funny :P

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/30/more-great-games-coming-to-playstation-via-third-party-production-team/

Moments ago, Adam Boyes introduced the latest addition to the Third Party Relations family at Playstation, a new group that I get to captain called Third Party Production. The Third Party Relations team at PlayStation is well known for developing solid relationships across this industry, and this new group will work closely with our publishing partners to bring their beloved IPs to some new places. This means you’ll see even more great games on PlayStation platforms, including new IP’s, ports, and localized products. In addition, our partners who are currently in production will have us as a resource to strengthen their development process, ensuring quality and consistency on all Third Party projects.

posting this again in this thread... but hope you guys don't mind
the Sony team has already taken notice of this game (as some of you have already posted)
so VitaGAF do support and help this game hit it's new stretch goals

I really wanna play this on my Vita :D

I think that some of you might be interested in this.

The team consists of Alex Preston (Samurai Gunn), Beau Blyth (Samurai Gunn), Disasterpeace (Fez OST) and Baths (here is a little taste of his fantastic music). Please check out the Announcement Trailer on the Kickstarter page before passing judgement (I did try to find an alternative source, but it seems like they haven't uploaded it elsewhere). The game looks amazing in motion.

They are aiming for a mid 2014 release on Steam. I think they are getting fast-tracked to Steam thanks to the confirmed Steam release of Samurai Gunn.

I hope that you guys are okay with this post, if this sort of thing is frowned upon, please let me know. I am not a part of the development team.

I guess that some of you didn't have a psp, the lack of localizations was a great plague even on psp, think of type 0, valkyrie chronicles 3, yakuza black panther 1 & 2 and many many many many more, it's totally not a vita exclusive problem...
Not that this makes me feel better... but at least now there's some hope with that new sony department.

I knew about this announcement but they only thing that the announced so far is Borderlands 2. I do hope that this works in bringing more localized products and support to VITA.

announcements take time. and you don't just throw it all out of the door.
Gamers would be complaining of a drought once the dust from the megaton settles down

Oh, I own many PSPs and despite its localization problems it was an all around better platform than Vita is. Vita doesn't have PSP's piracy problem, it has a "no one wants to buy me" problem that SCE doesn't seem too interested in fixing.

Again 8 years psp vs 1.5 years vita, can you honestly say that after 1.5 years the psp was better than vita? Imo not at all.
