Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

The seemingly 99 to 1 ratio of games to apps on PSM would say it's a platform for Android game development moreso than it is anything utilitarian. Sony released a game for PSM and no apps, so they must consider it a platform and storefront for games.
Problem with PSM is that only people in 9 countries get to enjoy it.

Finally got Rayman Legends in the mail today. I played Origins on PS3 and loved it, but I have to say that it looks and plays fantastically on the Vita. Really pleased so far, and I love the touch levels that everyone was worried about. They remind me a bit of Jungle Run.

I backed this and based on the comments, the dev is putting the Vita as the platform they really want to develop for! hope VitaGAF can take a look and support

They are off with a rather slow start so do check them up! the video makes the game seem rather interesting I must say!

Companies typically want to target the largest userbases. Why are Wii U, Mac, and Linux lower goals than PSN or XBLA? lol

you really need to go read their updates, etc.
the game is on Unity. Wii U is a lower goal because they can get that Unity Pro license kinda free thanks to Nintendo...

not sure about Mac and Linux.

With PSN, they need to pay an expensive $40K for using Unity.. but they have been advised to get in touch with Sony for help with that.

So the next "AAA" game for Vita is what....Tearaway or...Ys?

I think Ys actually comes out 2 weeks earlier. 11/5 vs 11/22 (?) US anyway.

Gonna buy Batman & Angry Birds retail in October. Then Ys & Tearaway in November. My kickstarter backs should clear, and there'll be a handful of indies to buy... I'm deciding not to buy a PS4 anytime soon, so my wallet has it pretty easy this quarter, finally.

My vita cant connect to my wifi it was fine until i started playing mlb on ad hoc mode. I go into settings and it cant connect. How do i get it off ad hoc ad back on wifi? Heck it doesnt even show the A anymore just nothing.
Edit - well turns out restarting the router worked but idk why. Other devices worked fine while the vita didnt. Yet restarting it fixed the problem.

turn your vita off
turn it back on

Love KZ:M but--

1) HATE the damage effect (black & white, can't make out a thing).
2) While I'm totally satisfied with the AA in KZ:M, there is no way this is running 4x MSAA as the devs claim (correct me if I'm wrong). It looks more like 2x, but also resembles SMAA.

OK so my Vita arrives Monday along with a memory card but the big problem is that Persona 4 comes WEDNESDAY!! OK Gaf, what do I play in those two days that's going to be a good introduction to the Vita?

While the game is the best racing game on the Vita, that doesn't exactly say much; the graphics are BAD (b/c of non-native res and texture filtering), sound quality is absolutely atrocious (don't even think about playing the game with headphones), and the handling of the cars plus the pop-in equals a lot of crashing (extremely boring crashes compared to Burnout Paradise, mind you).

Still, if you really want a racing game, it can't hurt to try it out.

Oh man thats crucial... I thought it was native res... =/ Sound is also important to me. Ok I will hold off for now and grab something else. Thanks a lot!

Anyone planing to get that Batman game?

I am

^_^

Can't progress because i'm CONSTANTLY overwhelmed with GG Cambridge's amazing work

I have the same problem. I completed the campaign today, going through again - but - trying to do levels with the different objectives. I've taken over 300 screenshots and still take more....of just this one game. It looks, plays and sounds phenomenal!

Congrats.

you want a short game? Gravity Rush is nice and short.

I want to pledge, but the vita goal is looking a bit impossible to reach at the rate this kickstarter is going. If they show signals of reaching it, I will back it.

There is another promising kickstarter that just announced a Vita stretch goal though, River City Ransom: Underground.

Looks cool, right? Here is the link if anyone else also wants to support it: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/combitstudios/river-city-ransom-underground

I already pledged to Liege, Project Phoenix, Mighty No. 9, Shantae, Hyper Light Drifter and River City Ransom hoping for Vita versions, because I love the platform, but we really shouldnt have to do this. Where is the Pub Fund to secure these promising little games? It sucks that the PSN version is always a stretch goal and not guaranteed.

If we can reach $280K during this campaign, we can begin to develop a port of River City Ransom: Underground for PS4™ and the PlayStation®Vita (via PlayStation® Mobile)

Hmm. Not sure why it's such a massive stretch goal for a PlayStation Mobile port. PSM development is dirt cheap, like $100 or so.

wonder if Takao is going to back this now or is he going to come up with another dose of cough syrup

That's a bit ridiculous. ... 220k, really?

True... and ports there end up as ever-burning dumpster fires.
Look at that Square RPG... Chaos Rings or whatever.

I'm pretty sure Football Manager Vita has been confirmed for a US release.

As for Persona 5, I don't see why you wouldn't think it would be a PlayStation game. The real games have never been on non-SCE hardware.

Sorry for late response. I meant that the fact Football Manager is coming out in the US on a PS system over something like OreShika2 would have been hard to believe for me back in the PS2 heydays. Not that FM manager is hot shit in the US by any means, but it's just trippy to see it come out on a system here.

And I hope Persona 5 comes to PS4/Vita. The large number of 3DS RPGs Atlus has been involved in lately just makes me feel they could be focusing that energy there. But it is a good point that Persona has always been on a PlayStation.

and why Vita one is a PSM version instead of a native release?? putting it on PSM is like sending it to bomb.

I don't know if it's running xMSAA or not, but it could very well be doing this while being hamstrung by the base resolution still being so low. It also has dynamic resolution to help maintain framerate.

I am so sick of Kickstarter, kickstart this kickstart that.
Omg I have failed to see any successful kickstarters.
To top it off the stretch goals are insane holy crap.

judging by the speed this Kickstarter is going, I'll say 220K is within reach.

It's still ridiculous.
Give me another $20k so I can make a better intro movie... and if you keep donating once I run out of goals, I'll tack on a Vita/PS4 port.

Lucky for him, the game looks good.

What the hell does that mean? :lol

Love how most projects do PS4/Vita together... and this one is "want Vita? add 90,000 after we hit the goal for PS4!"
