Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

What a beautiful sight. You make me want to double-dip and pick up some retail games.
I like to have the digital version for convenience, but the retail games usually fill up my 16GB memory card so fast due to their bigger size than most downloadable games, that is why i like physical games better. And also due to the collection purpose :)

No, but almost everyone on this thread who bought that game promising us impressions never came back here again. :P
Ah ok. I havnt tried it myself yet. I probably wont get around to try it before next year or so, mostly due to other games to play, but also due to low interest in the game. It might be a cool game though :)

Completed rayman origins today, it's a great game but the last level is so hard I must have died at least 50 times. I really struggled with the timing on the final chase, you had to get everything spot. So annoying at the end as well that you had to watch the credits.

Hey Vita-GAF, think I'll most likely pick up a Vita by the end of the year. Did Sony announce if they were going to release the new models in the US? I know I'll be missing out on the OLED, but I value a better battery life a bit more.

I have to be honest, Vitabros. I have a hard time seeing myself buying many Vita games after PS4 comes out. Unique stuff like Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway, sure, but it feels like we're moving away from that type of thing and into indie games that will be on other platforms and the occasional console port. I feel like, if I play my Vita at my house 95% of the time, I might as well just buy PS4 games and play them on Vita with Remote Play.

Essentially, I wish there were more unique exclusive games like Tearaway on the Vita. I have a massive Vita collection right now, and I feel like I probably won't be buying Vita games much at all anymore with its lack of exclusives looking forward. It used to be that I would buy multiplatform games on Vita because I love playing on that thing and not being tied specifically to the TV, but with Remote Play that advantage is gone.

I haven't played PS1 games back and forth between Vita and PS3 in a while, but now that I have PS Plus I'd like to know...are you able to upload a save from your Vita with Plus, and get it from the cloud on the PS3 to continue?

No word on when the Vita 2000s will hit North America or Europe. It's only been announced for Asia.

I thought about what you said too. Kind of relieved though, because when the PS4 drops, I can focus on that and not worry about spending extra money on Vita for a while.

Don't bother. Indie games are cross-buy (mostly), Vita native titles are still cheap that a PS4 game (although it will be quite a downgrade graphically) and there are a bunch of exclusives like Soul Sacrifice Delta, Phantasy Star Nova, Danganropa and some more that will probably get announced as times passes, especially if you like Japanese games.

Just do what you want. Anybody is going to criticize you if you don't buy 5 games a month. You have RP, you have PS+ and you'll still buy games because VitaGAF loves suggesting (forcind xD) people to buy games.

Ok, I need to vent, sorry in advance:

I am just realizing some people are going to have to connect their Vita TV to a PS3 to get certain games to transfer, because I just don't expect SCEA to ever remedy this.

That's just stupid Sony. I would like to be optimistic and hopeful that the Vita TV getting thrown into the mix will lead to some existing Vita issues finally getting addressed, but these problems have been sitting there forever now.

And then there's the account-switching, which isn't a restricted practice, but still left in a state of needless hassle. I know there is likely an element of deterrence at play here, but it's pointless if you're still allowing account switching, and with the game transfer nonsense being the way it is I cannot be certain where the deterrence ends and the jank begins. I know handhelds are typically a more personal system, but let us decide that for ourselves or you come off as anti-consumer.

Sony, please, pleeeeeeaaaaase, you have been making some good decisions lately, and really do seem the most pro-consumer of the big-three, but I think we supporters of your handheld deserve to finally feel a sense of consistency and completeness for your online services. This has been ridiculous long enough, many have let it slide since launch, but please fix it now that you have everyone's attention.

Thank you.

I have absolutely no idea what people excited for the PS4 launch and remote play are going to play on their Vita -- if you want next-gen Killzone, there's always that, I guess?

I'm more excited about having a next-gen console than the launch games. I am getting Killzone and it looks great, but it's more that I'm a gadget fiend and have to have it. I even bought the Wii U at launch and this seems much more like a no-brainer. Besides, it won't go down in price for probably two years, and there will be plenty of games I want to play by them, so why don't I just get it on day one? That's how I view it.

I do admit that I find it amazing that SCEA has yet to offer an explanation for this. It's frustrating as there's notable content that only works via PS3 transfer.

Oh damn, how would you even do the transfer on a VTV without a screen? Will we need a separate handheld Vita and PS3 to get the game on the card, then throw the card into the VTV?

This actually makes me more hopeful that an overhaul may be around the corner, at least for the VTV. Everything feels so mismatched as is.

After beta testing this current generation of consoles with 2 360s dead and 2 ps3s dead so I will not be going through the growing pains here. Watching the library for PS3 grow slowly before there was a mass of games I feel like I needed to play didn't help either... especially not when there's still the ability to buy a lot of these games on PS3 (or Vita). For me a PS4 will be for the Sony exclusives and Killzone or inFamous:SS or anything else currently announced screams out to me "RUSH OUT TO BUY A PS4".

Hell, I'd not have bought a PS3 when I did either, except I was scared into it by the removal of BC, which I used a fair bit but eventually didn't end up mattering to me. The only benefit I'd get is the Vita remote play (but with no games that are system sellers to me, it's pointless) and the fact that I already have a PS+ sub through 2016 so online would be free.

For me, I just don't get it.

I keep failing the precision type of the first contract of Killzone Mercenary on Veteran by like 10 seconds. How infuriating.

Just out of curiosity, whereabouts in DC? I'm in Rockville.

Not actually DC, but Woodbridge VA! I flew back in to DC this morning!

I feel bad neglecting my Vita as of late. I've actually picked up my DS again, getting in the spirit for Pokemon next month... (Im an addict.. Please let me be)

I've been playing small bouts of Hotline. I wanna get back to Soul Sac and pick up DCrown again... Sigh.. so little time to play games.. really pisses me off..

Its a good thing I didnt buy Killzone or Spelunky because it really would be ignored.... Not good...

But with Pokemon coming on my birthday of all days... Im finding myself getting a hold on a 3DS..

How do you balance playing both Vita AND 3DS guys? 1 game on each?

Ah yeah, see I haven't had that problem at all. 360 has never broke (doesn't hurt that I never use it), and I did have my old 2008 40GB model PS3 break a couple of years ago and replaced that, but that's it.

Do you just not often play consoles? Or are you a PC guy? I know you like playing games and you mentioned how a possible PS4 would only be for exclusives despite it most likely having the best non-PC versions of games, so I am curious. For me, I don't game on PC, so I will have the PS4 for both exclusives and multiplatform titles.

I just hardly ever play my 3DS. I'll occasionally play a game on it, but if I do, it's never for more than a day or two. Like, for instance, I got it out and played DKCR 3D a few days ago until I got frustrated with the controls and unresponsiveness after about half an hour and I was back to the Vita, lol.

It depends really. I have a massive PSP/PS1 dl library so my Vita does get more playtime than my 3DS. Apart from theatrhythm & pxz I use my 3DS solely for DS gaman (so really, my 3DS doesn't get used at all, 3 times a week tops) but that will change soon when Sernan and Pokemon drops this fall and Bravely Default comes rolling along next year. Then again, when I'm all done with Killzone, my Vita will be seeing less usage in the near future because the only thing I'm looking forward to really is FFX HD and to a lesser extent Tearaway. I might import GE2 or maybe Miku.

Overall, my handheld usage goes like

Vita > GBA > 3DS > PSP > GB

anyone know how to find where exactly you are in corpse party? bought book of shadows and want to beat corpse party before i play it and haven't touched the game in roughly 3-4 months and have no clue what the hell i was doing

Why not start over at the beginning of the chapter.

Don't get your hopes up too high. I might be remembering wrong since I haven't done this in a while, but when you plug a PSP into a PS3 for transferring games the the only information it displays is "USB Mode"—a status indicator that could easily be handled by a single LED on the VTV. Anything important is on the big screen. Doesn't seem like much of a stretch to figure they'll handle VTV transfers similarly.

Between a variety of factors, I'm currently shifting from console to PC. I see no reason to buy a $400 PS3 when I can build a more powerful PC for not much more, the games will always have free online, the games can run mods, the games have Steam sales and humble bundles and the like to get better prices than consoles, etc. Hell, even Rayman Legends, which is arguably best on PC is the SAME PRICE as the Vita release -- console tax is $20 more. Factor in that my entire library of PS3 purchases won't work on the new machine (so I have no reason to migrate early when I can just play what I have now on PS3) and I just don't have a reason to stick with consoles anymore -- it doesn't make sense. The only reason Sony has my attention with the PS4 is -- literally -- the Vita remote play option (combined with exclusives). Sony will get an additional boost if their DS4 is actually PC compatible this time around without needing to jump through hoops to get it to work.

To answer the other question, I'm mostly a handheld guy now... but when I play on my big screen, I don't care if it's a console or a PC. With the arguments above, I've decided in the future, it will be a PC, not a PS4.

Considering how JP handles the PSP and PSOne digital libraries, I don't think they have anywhere NEAR the problems we see with this crap, especially in NA region.

What game is everyone looking forward to at the moment?

Soonest, Tearaway and 1,001 Spikes. Not the only stuff I'll buy, of course.

Further away, Helldivers, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Fez & Hotline Miami 2 are the things I'm most looking forward to, I think. A good 10 or so things I know I want, though.

What would you guys say the odds of Senran Kagura Shinovi Versis getting localized? Sort of unknown until we saw how Burst performs for XSEED? It's a game I'd really like to import, and I'll just do it if I know there's no shot of a localization.

I have the same dilemma. I was getting every game I could on Vita mainly because it was new to me and because I was on the verge of selling my 360 (which I did). Depending on what gets released from here on out, my Vita may just turn into a Remote Play machine.
