But this is new capcom. They have killed franchises off for less.
They could easily feel that DMC as a whole is finished. Dino Crisis 1 and 2 alone were some of Capcoms best sellers and the failure of 3 sales wise pulled the plug on that whole franchise.
I'm just talking in a general sense here though. Not saying I don't want more DMC.
I think the more likely scenario is that DmC, by hook or by crook, has been deligated to a B-tier status. Let's look at Capcom's projections for the next 3 years. Dead Rising 3 this year, Deep Down next year, Dragon's Dogma 2 for 2015 (because I don't think they can afford not to turn that IP into a franchise at this point), that means they need spring games for the next 3 years. 2014 will probably be filled by SF4:Ultra, 2015 by DMC2 and 2016 by something that's going to get announced at TGS or e3 next year. If the rumors are true and Capcom really is burning their franchises prior to this generation, they can't afford to have franchises that have notoriety simply fade away, even if that means sticking with something like DmC that split the fanbase.
Getting back to the topic on hand though, and with all that being said, It would be super interesting if the game announced next week is something brand new...but I think Capcom is too scared of that right now.
Meanwhile, that Shante Kickstarter is still going on while it could have been a Capcom game for chump change...but whatever.
Aw, you guys. Thinking Capcom will make another crossover fighting game.
So cute.
Marvel did well enough that I think they won't take the idea off the table.
Now it being announced, it being good, and Capcom having a meaningful long term plan for it are 3 separate things.
Well I've bet cash now so knowing my luck this Itsuno game will be DmC vs Capcom
You're welcome...?
I'm maining Noriko and Tripp.
I mean, let's not get it twisted, the thing I'm betting for isn't something I necessarily want, I just think it's the more likely out come. Itsuno taking the reigns wouldn't be a bad thing, it would probably mean DMC2 or DMC5 or what have you would be pretty great...but I can't see that happening when Ninja Theory has the assets and ability to make a sequel on the cheap in a relatively short amount of time. Businesswise, it makes more sense to go back to Ninja Theory, even if (and i'm not saying they will) they send Itsuno to america to frontline the project.
