3DS Streetpass Experiences

Des the 3ds disables the streetpass while on DS mode ?

There was a guy on the buss with me for at least 10 minutes playing a red 3DS and ... no streetpass =(

After 10+ flower types in Flower Town I think I can definitively say Mr. Mendel is my least favorite Nintendo character of recent memory, and maybe of all time. Stop following me into my shed and just let me garden in peace, I fucking get it already. Don't you have your own plants to deal with anyway?

Yeah, how his re-explanations escaped QA will forever remain a great mystery.

Whats most annoying are the things he does not repeat. The only way to see the seed preview of something planted is before you start watering plants that session. If you need to investigate it a lot (say you've got two very similar looking ones and want to know if its worth bothering to water it or sell it off) you have to swap it out then swap it back...

There is also plant pals. After a certain event he won't go "oh I wonder if your plant pals are here". I can't remember my entire plaza and who is over level 1 (and therefore a plant pal) so I end up wasting plant pals on watering when they could have helped me get seeds.

6 today

I actually think I know who three of them are based on how they look like and what time I got them, which is pretty cool.

3 guys, 3 girls

Gamed being played

Animal Crossing NL x1
Fire Emblem x2
Mario Kart x1
Pokemon Black 2 x1

Only got one tag at the Blackhawks game tonight. A let down of sorts after getting over a dozen at the Cubs game. The relay carried me to most of those.

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN LOOK AT PERCENTAGES TO DETERMINE WHICH PLANT WILL BE WHAT?

Also, are the percentages bullshit?

According to this Japanese wiki I think it say they are advisory and seed shapes can override them (online translators kind of give you half truths though). So tap R and look at the shapes.

It also says seed sales prices can make you tell but I really wonder if that is the case (or if it is really helpful).

It also says that rarely you get Miis visiting with non-blooming flowers which means you don't get seeds from them.

I see this all the time from others who also have Flower Town and don't have bloomed flowers because they're still in the process of growing them, but I've never seen a randomly generated flower from a person who doesn't have Flower Town show up as a baby plant.

7 days until National Streetpass Day.

Nintendo will have to send out special Spotpass Miis if they want anyone to notice.

I am constantly surprised by how many people who own a 3ds and don't have street pass function activated. There are several people where I work who have one and only one of them had street pass activated.

I went to a convention a month ago with a friend and she was annoyed that so many people brought their 3DS out at random. I explained to her why and she seriously did not have a clue about any of this stuff despite owning a 3DS for two years now.

She should be around when I whip out both my NA and JP 3DSes at once and simultaneously clear the queues on both of them.

I really need to figure out what to do about the flaky R button on the NA one too... getting through Streetpass is so painful when you can't fast forward.

I live in a college town and I got about 100 hits in a month. Plus I'm going to comic-con in about a month so that should help too. It's good to be king.

Honestly I'm surprised by people that do have Streetpass enabled.
A friend of mine got a 3DS recently and when I met up with him I had to walk him through enabling Streetpass because he didn't know a thing about it, the system does a completely terrible job of explaining what it is and how to get it enabled. It's even worse after the Plaza DLC game update, he had never opened the app before so I told him to so I could enable Streetpass and you are just bombarded with updates and hundreds of pop-up messages that only explain it vaguely and there are so many I don't blame anyone for button mashing through them then not knowing what to do.
Individual games handle it even worse because it's completely different for each one, sometimes you'll get a prompt when you first boot the game (which is the best way), sometimes you'll have to dig around in the menu, and sometimes you have to unlock it.

Strange discovery today: the Best Buy nearest me is not a Nintendo Zone, but the adjacent Home Depot's parking garage is. Seriously, the middle of the parking garage had plenty of signal, enough to get a relayed Streetpass and my slushie machine in Animal Crossing.

Apparently, this was the incumbent at the Home Depot parking garage: http://aly-san.tumblr.com

I just hit 1000+ unique streetpasses.

I have to say that 99% of the time there are no offensive or rude streetpasses. There was however a Hitler Mii who said he was going to gas jews and also a Mii with the fox hat who said 'yiff yiff'.

OVER ALL however I'd have to say most people are friendly and amusing to streetpass.

40 streetpasses today, in Brisbane (Aus)... at the monthly StreetPass meetup.

So good.

Would have been 10-20 more had I gotten through them quickly enough before having to leave.

Bred my first
phantom plant
in StreetPass Garden!

It really does help if you stop and wait next to potential relays rather than just walk past them.

Which is no problem at 9am on a Sunday when nobody is around, but I can't really justify it the rest of the time.

So, I haven't carried my 3DS with me in a little over a Month. Yesterday, I'm working on the trash at my job and, this Mother comes up to me and, asks if I had my DS on me. I tell her no. She tells me that I'm the only reason her Daughter comes to the Target I work at. I guess I should start carrying it again.

I need to remember to start killing my JP 3DS's wireless whenever I pass by a relay point. As usual, it grabbed every relay first, leaving my NA 3DS to high five my JP Mii five times in a row. Going to start just leaving the JP 3DS at home when I don't need the play coins from carrying it around anymore.

That's pretty funny.

Creepy and awesome.

Streetpass makes me paranoid. If I notice someone walking past me more than once I just assume they recognise my Mii and wanna pass.

wow lol, that's kind of crazy/awesome

Four yesterday, three guys and 1 girl. One guy I met for the second time.

Games being played

Mario and Luigi
Pokemon Black 2
Etrian Odyssey IV
SMTIV

Is there a way to get actual maps for all of the regions that don't show up in my plaza?
(Yes, been using homepass, hoping I won't be treated like a filthy cheater in here...)

I used to think streetpass was garbage , mostly cause no one owned a 3DS. With games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon coming out soon, I see more and more people are bringing it out. I used to just bring it out for the play coins to do my daily 1000 steps with it and buy puzzle pieces and warriors for Find Mii, but I've been pleasantly surprised these last couple of months. I even bought the other Streetpass games since I was getting more than the usual 1 or 2.

Anyway, got 5 today

All of them guys, one of them had an L mii from Death Note asking if I was Kira.

Games being played

Pokemon Black x2
Animal Crossing NL x2
Fire Emblem A x1

today i maxed out the 10 pass limit for the first time ever. then i realized i received all of them between 11am and 1pm. the next 8 hours i was out were all a waste! damn limit... who knows how many i could have missed. oh well, find mii complete, on to round 2.

so many animal crossing players! holy shit i can't wait to see what X/Y does :)

Changing my morning schedule slightly has really degraded the quality of the passes I've been getting. Puzzle swap says it all: Travelers met, 9 Pieces obtained: 4. The joys of having around 500 pieces...it is making me wonder if I should modify my piece collecting strategy, it is a shame we can't re-order Miis (I always wonder if someone who had no new pieces for me because someone earlier in the queue took the piece).

Only one person I'd met more than once (I made sure to use them first in mansion so they appeared in a room and gave me a puzzle box*) and only one person has played any games and only mansion at that. Before I was getting a few regulars up to a nice selection for mansion.

The ~30,000 troops I need to make the emperor slightly more fair in Battle seems further away than ever (I got like 300 troops from this batch due to no monarchs). Though to be honest I hardly get any monarchs (and its worse for them as I can sometimes annihilate them with a 1/98/1 split).

*-Miis in room are 1 tag = gems. 2 or more = gems and puzzle box (I'm not sure if it always new, feels like it, btw, they're getting pretty tough now in the late 20s...). If they've played the game there is the team up option and refusing it gets you random item (equipped weapon is a possible choice) and sometimes a puzzle box...but I think it is one they have done. I wonder if similar rules apply.

My most reliable relay point (Pizza hut) I can walk past (or rather back and forth). The others seem to be flaky even if you stand around. If my schedule allows it that is still 2 easy tags a day.

I think today might actually have been the first time I filled my queue completely. I usually empty it if I see it at 7/8/9. I don't think I have seen 10 before.

It also took me to:

Over 400 Streetpass Hits
Over 300 Plaza Population
Exactly 300 hits since the new Streetpass games were released.

A good day.

Edit: Ooh, the plaza music changed.

I think the better play for National Streetpass Day is to turn-up the day after and harvest all the relay points.

My mother regularly goes by the three local relay points here, but only seems to get a hit every couple weeks. Occasionally when I'm with her and we go by I'll get a relay pass with her Mii and the game-specific data from other people for games I own that she doesn't.

Guess there just aren't many people using them in our rural area. I wish the relay points worked internationally so us rural people wouldn't still be pretty screwed.

Hopefully they will follow through with that idea (as mentioned in the Iwata Asks) to combine the relay points for less frequented areas.

Got ten, probably could have gotten more if I had checked today.
