Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

I hope so! Your post about spending less time on Vita due to a lack of AAA games and cross platform PS4 indies was sad :(

Well that definitely got me excited. And I mean, I'll still be playing on the Vita, just more often playing PS4 games on it. :p But stuff like this makes me happy because I WANT good exclusive games on the platform. With the addition of Remote Play system wide, simply being a game ON the Vita won't cut it, if it's multiplatform.

Not sure if it had IP blocks actually

The Vita version apparently connects just fine if you import the physical copy from what I have heard. Even on a US account?

Not sure need more info here...
I've played the game just fine from Australia having to use no IP Block avoidance issues on both Vita and PC so I don't think they employ them. They eventually did update the Terms of Service to say no non-Japanese players allowed after a overwhelming amount of them flocking to the Japanese version, but I don't think they've actually banned or stopped anyone in spite of that.
Soooo am I missing something or does Sony not let you get PSP demos on your Vita?
I'm not sure about the US or JP stores but this seems to be the case on the EU one. It might still work via transfers from the PS3 store but that leaves you to question why they're not up on the Vita store.

It has better chance to be revived than Folklore though.

Japanese Survival Horror is unfortunately dead.

For you, sure. For me on the other hand? I'll still go native Vita over everything so long as it's a quality release.
What use would Rayman Legends on any other platform, including PS4 if it existed, be if I couldn't take it with me when I left the house?

What it comes down to is "are you happy with playing your Vita using it as a WiiU controller or do you actually want a handheld portable system?".

You seem to be very much in the former category, whereas I am not. While I see great benefit in that functionality, I'd much rather be able to take my Vita with me anywhere and be able to still play my games.

I don't know that Silent Hill is dead, exactly.
But getting games along the lines of Silent Hill 1-3 is probably not likely.
As far as RE6? I'm not quite sure how it's a COD clone unless you're purely comparing the "blockbuster movie" type storylines. RE6 plays more like Gears without the cover mechanic and competent versus multiplayer.

Oh yeah, I meant for myself. I still hope there are plenty of multiplatform games coming to Vita, because I don't WANT it to be relegated to a Wii U controller. For me, I feel like a good...say...60-70% of my Vita time will be playing PS4 games around my house. BUT I still appreciate the things Vita can do independent of the PS4, which is why I want good exclusives. Now, you mentioned Rayman Legends. I would have a hard time deciding whether to get a theoretical PS4 version or a Vita version. That's because I ALMOST always play my Vita at my house. Because of that, it would be hard for me to go against the PS4 version, since I'd be able to play it on the TV, and on Vita the same way 80% of my Vita time is spent.

need advice Vita owners..
was going to buy a Vita just a day before the 2000 model was unveiled.. then i thought id wait..
i really would like the micro usb port and the extra hour of battery.. but of course the screen issue is something im still unsure of...
So.. should i get the OLED vita or wait for the Vita 2000? Im ready to wait till the end of this year.. but anything after that would just be too long.. wanna make use of these PS+ games ive accumalated..
i have seen some comparison videos of the LCD vs OLED.. but cant really draw conclusions yet..

SH died because the original team is no more and Konami gave it to shitty developers. RE6 was a pure shooter, do not even that horror elements or weird atmosphere like RE4, and Tecmo killed Fatal Frame when they sold it to Nintendo, gave it to shitty developer like Grasshopper and turned the series into that Spirit Camera spin off crap.

Siren was the only hope for the Japanese horror genre, but it's over now. (Mikami's The Evil Within look like RE4, so not real horror but we need to see more of it)

You can pick up a used vita today for pretty cheap, and if you decide to get the new model, easily sell the old one for not much of a loss. Seems worth it to me.

COD Clone in term of the amount of set pieces and scripted sequences thrown in it. RE 5 had way less of them but RE 6 was just choke full of them. I don't hate it but i don't consider it Survival Horror anymore.

Last Silent Hill was released in 2011 and didn't do so hot. We haven't heard about a new one for a long time now so i don't think it is gonna return anytime soon. As good as dead. The recent ones were also terrible/average at most.

Fellow Sorcerers, RedSunGamer has some Soul Sacrifice footage uploaded, being played on VitaTv

One thing that stood out to me is that the character movements and animations seem to have been reworked. Much less robotic looking. It's especially noticeable in the throwing animation, where the character actually shows a bit of anticipation and follow-through when throwing stuff. Besides making motion look more natural, these little tweaks will stop the spellcasting from being too spammy. Looks pretty good on a big screen - even with the weird texture filtering (yup - it's still not sorted out).

Toukiden retail release make me happy.

hopefully there is no enhanced version or something like that soon after the western release (Tecmo love that crap)

They made a Gravity game while they were Team Siren, so they can create a Siren game while they are Team Gravity.

That actually make perfect sense.

:P

Well, 2014 certainly looks like it's beginning to take shape. I knew this was going to happen, but I'm excited nonetheless. Danganronpa, FFX/X-2, Gravity Rush 2, Freedom Wars, Toukiden, Deception, just to name a handful. Very cool stuff.

Just picked up a Vita and want a Wipeout game..Pure, Pulse or 2048?
I hear Pure has lots of free content but Pulse has better controls? And the vita one runs poorly or so I hear. What do you guys think?

2048 is AMAZING and it has all of the PS3 version's content as free DLCs. Yeah, even the Fury campaign.

It's an incredible Wipeout with new cool features and approaches, and it runs great. Seeing those graphics I couldn't believe my eyes, never thought I would see something like that on an handheld.

I'm really looking forward to these (though I am unsure what Freedom Wars is, is it a Monster Hunter clone or something else?)! Also Soul Sacrifice 2, whenever that gets announced (might skip Delta, provided it gets a Western release, depending on how into SS I am when it comes out). I just hope more than a few of them get physical releases, since I like to have a boxed game collection (old school, I know).

Also, I know it isn't Vita, but I was really happy to see Atelier Eschatology in the list of confirmed localisations. I was really looking forward to that.

What? Unless you are one of those people who got stomachache and must be treated at the ER for merely hearing the word "30 FPS", the game runs great,

If you are talking about the loading, then in my opinion it is something people greatly overexaggerate since it is already patched to perfectly reasonable levels.

I started playing it two months ago, after the patch I guess, and never had a complain about loading times. They take a little while but it's a totally acceptable amount of time, even compared to Wipeout HD on PS3.

Can anyone help me a bit with Persona 4?

Just got through the ski trip in February. My social link with Marie is maxed out, as I was told to do. But it didn't trigger her dungeon. What did I do wrong?

If you beat Adachi with Marie's link maxed, then at January Margaret informs you that Marie's ran away or something. You must request Margaret to look for Marie, otherwise she'll act as if Marie has never existed from the beginning.

I do prefer 60fps especially for racing / fast paced games but I'll go for 2048.
Thanks for the input!

OH YOU'VE GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME. When I did that, I skipped it because I didn't want to go right after
Adachi's stuff
, and she said I could come back to her and talk to her in the Dweller's Requests thing. COME ON. Unbe-FUCKING-LIEVABLE. Nyargh. Rage. Throwing things. Grumble...

It would be stupid to try and draw a conclusion about the screen until you hold both in your hand and compare anyway. I think in any case whatever you decide will still be good.
The OG Vita battery is surprisingly good so unless you plan on playing massive massive sessions you will be fine. I play long sessions of games and usually get tired or bored well before the battery is close to dying.

Also I don't think the west will be getting 2000 models before the end of the year, so there's that too, unless you are fine with importing.

2048 is the definitive version of Wipeout IMO. Whoever told you it runs poorly is crazy.

GAME in the UK have a real good Vita deal at the moment. 3G/Wifi model with 8 Gig card and Killzone mercenaries for £169. Admittedly Killzone is digital download so will fill up half that card but I have seen the 3G/Wifi model for more than that standalone.

30 days PS+ too

Top of the page..

Buy GTA. No really. Put your Vitas down and buy GTA.

To be fair you must see both endings (with and without Marie) to unlock all cut scenes, plus you physically can't get some trophies on the first round. So better luck on Second Round :D

Same for me. I was a WoW player for like 6 years (I took some rests, but always returned when new exciting content was released xD) and keep dying in the same fucking bosses for weeks, like every other players that does 10/25 dungeons. Played MH, found it has everything I found boring about MMOs but lacked its main appeal (playing with other people, the feel you are in a live world). And the combat is clunky. I'm ok mastering how to play a game. But in MH I feel that I have to overcome a bad designed gameplay first. And I don't want to waste my time doing it when there are so many great games out there.

I know those WoW feels man, except I played consistently between Vanilla and MoP. Heh, so many deaths. Your breakdown of MH makes a lot of sense to me and probably what's stopping me from enjoying it. I guess if I had friends that played I may enjoy it much more.

tl;dr - I love Monster Hunter, as do many other folks. It is NOT the game for everyone, though. If anyone is interested in getting into the series, it's best to push through to your first major encounter and do it a few times. If you enjoy that experience and the progression of skill through learning and adapting, congratulations - you're in. If you find that you simply cannot enjoy the big fights and the animation based movement and combat, that's OK - probably not for you.

I'm going to definitely try it again at some stage. I will more than likely buy MH4 and maybe even this Vita game, but I think I'm done with trying MH3, I have too much of a backlog to finish right now.
